Bottega Veneta Jodie Size Guide: Mini, Small, Medium and Large

0

The Bottega Veneta Jodie is sold in four sizes, and the names are not as intuitive as they look. The jump from Mini to Small is large, and the Medium is bigger than the bag Bottega simply calls the Jodie. Here are the brand’s own measurements, what each size actually holds, and which one to buy.

Bottega Veneta Jodie size chart

These are Bottega Veneta’s published measurements. Height includes the knotted intrecciato handle, which is why the numbers run tall relative to the bag body.

Size Height Width Depth Handle drop
Mini Jodie 13cm / 5.1in 26cm / 10.2in 8.5cm / 3.3in 10cm / 3.9in
Small Jodie 21cm / 8.2in 36cm / 14.2in 13cm / 5.1in 18cm / 7.1in
Jodie 48cm / 18.9in 40cm / 15.7in 16cm / 6.3in 30cm / 11.8in
Medium Jodie 50cm 54cm 20cm 30cm

Read that table twice before ordering. The Medium Jodie is the largest of the four, wider and deeper than the style Bottega lists simply as the Jodie. If you are shopping by name alone you can easily buy a bag twice the size you pictured.

Mini Jodie

The Mini is a genuine evening bag with a daytime alibi. At 26cm across and 8.5cm deep it is carried by the knot in the hand, on the shoulder for a short drop, and nothing else.

Bottega states it fits a large-format phone, a card case, earbuds and keys. That is an honest capacity, so treat it as a going-out bag rather than a working one. It is also the entry point to the line, which makes it the most common first Jodie.

Small Jodie

The Small is the one most people actually want, and the step up from the Mini is bigger than the names suggest: 10cm wider, 4.5cm deeper, and an 18cm handle drop that clears the shoulder properly.

It takes a slim wallet, a phone, sunglasses and a compact. It is the size that works from a desk to dinner without looking like luggage, and if you are buying one Jodie to wear constantly, buy this one.

Jodie

At 40cm wide with a 30cm handle drop, the Jodie is a true shoulder bag with slouch. The height of 48cm reflects the full drape of the intrecciato, so it wears softer and lower than the number implies.

This is the travel and weekend size. It holds a tablet, a book and a folded scarf, and the long drop means it sits under the arm rather than in the crook of the elbow.

Medium Jodie

The largest of the four at 54cm wide and 20cm deep. It is a genuine carryall and the only Jodie that comfortably takes a laptop sleeve alongside everything else.

Buy it if you want the Jodie shape to do a work bag’s job. Do not buy it expecting something between the Small and the Jodie, because it is not.

Which Jodie size should you buy?

You want Buy
Evening, dinner, an event Mini
One bag for most days Small
Travel, weekends, a soft slouch Jodie
Work, laptop, carryall Medium

How the Jodie wears

The knot is structural, not decoration. It is the handle, so the bag hangs from a single point and the intrecciato collapses inward when the bag is not full. A half-empty Jodie looks softer and smaller than its measurements, which is part of the appeal and worth knowing if you are judging size from a product photo.

The leather matters as much as the size. Smooth nappa slouches most, while the padded and suede versions hold more shape and read slightly larger on the shoulder at the same measurements.

Care

Bottega’s own guidance is to keep the bag away from direct light, heat and rain, and to dry it immediately with a soft cloth if it does get wet. Store it stuffed so the intrecciato keeps its shape, because a Jodie stored flat creases along the weave and those creases are difficult to reverse.
