What is the Boodles Raindance collection?

Raindance is a family of jewellery based on one idea: a rounded cluster of brilliant cut stones. When Boodles designed its 2025 Chelsea garden for the collection’s 25th anniversary, it took inspiration from the movement of raindrops and the intricate patterns in the Raindance design.

The ring came first, and the collection has grown around it. Today the same cluster appears on half hoop and full hoop bands, stud and drop earrings, pendants, long necklaces, bangles and two row bracelets. It comes in platinum, yellow gold, white gold and rose gold, with diamonds alone and with sapphires, rubies, emeralds, Paraiba tourmalines, aquamarines and rainbow mixes of coloured stones.

Boodles designs its pieces in house, and Raindance is the clearest example of the house style: feminine, gem led and technically precise. Read our full profile of who Boodles is for the wider story.

What is the history of the Raindance ring?

2000: the original ring

Boodles created the Raindance ring in 2000, during the period when brothers Nicholas and Michael Wainwright were running the company and had assembled a dedicated design team. The classic version is a cluster of nine brilliant cut diamonds.

2010: the V&A selection

Ten years later the V&A Museum in London invited Boodles to display the Raindance ring in its permanent jewellery exhibition. The museum’s jewellery curator chose it as an example of ‘iconic British jewellery design’. In 2020 Boodles confirmed that the piece chosen was the classic ring with nine brilliant cut diamonds.

2020: the pink anniversary ring

For the 20th anniversary, Boodles revealed a Raindance ring in platinum set with rare fancy pink and white diamonds, a nod to the pink that runs through the house’s design language. Coveti stocks the Raindance 20th Anniversary Platinum Diamond Ring at $117,720.

2025: Raindance 25 and the Chelsea garden

The 25th anniversary brought the Boodles Raindance Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025, which won a gold medal. Coveti also lists the Raindance 25 pieces in pink and white diamonds, including the Raindance 25 Pink and White Diamond Ring and a matching collar, drop earrings and bangle. The Raindance Chelsea pieces, in platinum and yellow gold, sit alongside them.

Which Raindance ring should you choose?

There are 40 Raindance rings at Coveti, from $7,760 to $160,660. They fall into clear families, so the choice is mostly about scale and stone.

Raindance ring What it looks like Metals at Coveti Price at Coveti (USD)
Half Hoop A band of small clusters across the top of the finger Platinum, yellow gold $7,760 to $8,510
Full Hoop Clusters all the way round Platinum, yellow gold $12,990

Five Diamond A row of five diamonds Platinum $23,070

Large and Mega Statement clusters Platinum, yellow gold $126,870 to $156,920
Pink and white diamond 20th Anniversary and Raindance 25 rings Platinum $117,720 to $160,660

If you want the piece the V&A chose, buy the Classic. The Raindance Classic Platinum Diamond Ring and the Raindance Classic Rose Gold Diamond Ring are both $25,310. For colour, the Raindance Rainbow Yellow Gold Ring mixes diamonds with pink sapphire, tsavorite and green tourmaline at the same price. If you are deciding between coloured stones, our guide to emerald, sapphire and ruby rings sets out the differences.

Platinum and gold behave differently over time. Platinum is dense, naturally white and holds stones securely, and 62 of the 131 Raindance pieces at Coveti are platinum. Yellow and rose gold give a warmer frame around the diamonds, and gold is lighter on the hand than platinum.

What other Raindance pieces are there?

Raindance earrings

There are 28 pairs from $9,250, including enamel earrings in pink and blue. The Raindance Classic Cluster Platinum Stud Earrings at $15,790 echo the classic ring, and the detachable double drop earrings let you take the drop off for daytime. See more in diamond stud earrings.

Raindance necklaces and pendants

There are 36 necklaces from $12,430 to $494,830. The single cluster pendant is the easiest way into the collection: the Raindance Platinum Diamond Cluster Pendant is $29,040. The long necklaces and the Large Two-Row Platinum Diamond Necklace sit at the top of the price range. Browse pendant and charm necklaces for more.

Raindance bracelets and bangles

There are 21 bracelets from $33,900, from cluster bangles to two row line bracelets. The Raindance Classic Diamond Yellow Gold Bracelet at $38,000 is the everyday choice. See diamond bracelets and bangles.

Raindance sets

Six sets pair a pendant with earrings, a ring with earrings, and a ring with a pendant, from $26,610 to $44,720. They make sense as a gift, since the pieces arrive matched in metal and stone.

How do you wear and stack Raindance?

Raindance works because the cluster is rounded and low, so it sits comfortably beside other rings. Three ways to wear it:

  • On its own. A Classic ring on the right hand is a confident daytime piece. It does not need a partner.
  • As a stack. Pair a Classic with a Raindance Half-Hoop Platinum Diamond Ring above and below it, which gives a band of light across the finger. A Raindance Full-Hoop Platinum Diamond Ring is the cleaner option if you want sparkle from every angle. More options are in stackable rings.
  • As a bridal set. A Raindance half hoop also works beside a solitaire engagement ring. Match the metal of both rings, and choose a half hoop if the engagement ring has a low setting, since it will sit flush. Our engagement ring guide covers settings and shapes.

Mixing metals also works with Raindance. A rose gold Classic between two platinum half hoops looks deliberate rather than accidental, because the cluster shape ties the stack together. For a two stone alternative, see what a toi et moi ring is, and for bolder single pieces browse our statement rings.

What diamonds does Boodles use in Raindance?

Raindance depends on the quality of its small stones, because a cluster only works when every diamond returns light evenly. Boodles says it treats quality of cut as paramount and vets every stone for brilliance. Its diamonds are typically selected within the D to G colour range, the upper end of the colour scale that runs from D, exceptional white, down to Z, light yellow.

A few house practices are useful to know when you buy:

  • Boodles diamond rings have the carat weight engraved inside the shank, for reference and guarantee.
  • Boodles diamonds are generally certified over three quarters of a carat, and Boodles is happy to explain the certificate for any stone.
  • Every diamond is handpicked by a trained Boodles expert, and the house rejects a high proportion of certified stones that do not look right.
  • All Boodles diamonds come from suppliers who guarantee they are non conflict, in line with United Nations resolutions, and since 2021 the house has used Single Mine Origin gold in all its jewellery.

How do you look after Raindance jewellery?

A cluster setting has many small claws, so a little care keeps it looking right for decades. Take rings off for the gym, gardening and heavy cleaning, since a knock on a hard surface is a common way for a small stone to come loose. Store each piece separately in a soft pouch, because diamonds can scratch other jewellery and even each other.

To clean a Raindance ring at home, soak it in warm water with a drop of mild washing up liquid, brush gently behind the stones with a soft toothbrush, rinse and dry with a lint free cloth. Lotion and soap build up under a cluster faster than under a solitaire, which dulls the sparkle. Have the claws checked by a jeweller once a year, and sooner if a stone ever feels loose to the touch.

How does Raindance ring sizing work?

Boodles is a British jeweller, so Raindance rings use UK ring sizes, which run in letters from A to Z with half sizes in between. If you normally buy in US sizes, the conversion below is a useful starting point.

US size UK size (approximate)
5 J and a half
6 L and a half
7 N and a half
8 P and a half
9 R and a half

The surest method is to measure a ring you already wear comfortably on the same finger. Boodles itself recommends this, and also offers a printable ring size guide. Fit matters more on hoop styles: a full hoop has stones all round, so it is harder to resize than a half hoop, which has a plain metal base. When you are between sizes for a full hoop, size up a half.

How much does Boodles Raindance cost at Coveti?

Raindance at Coveti costs from $7,760 for the Half-Hoop Platinum Diamond and Sapphire Ring to $494,830 for the Raindance Large Two-Row Platinum Diamond Necklace. The median Raindance piece is $39,120.

The pink and white diamond pieces are among the most expensive in every category, reflecting how rare Argyle pink diamonds have become since the mine closed in 2020. Our pink diamonds guide explains why. Every piece is new and authenticated, and ships insured worldwide by DHL Express and FedEx, mostly Delivered Duty Unpaid.
