- Bex Gown in Silver: a streamlined column in silver stretch sequins, with a high neck, short sleeves and dimensional trim at the openings. The most red carpet piece in the collection.
- Bex Gown in Black and Green: the same shape in black viscose crepe jersey, with bright green embroidery at the neck and sleeves. Quieter, and easier to wear again.
- Petra Gown in Ivory and Black: ivory Italian double crepe, a draped sleeveless bodice and a sculpted high neck finished with hand stitched black sequins.
- Farren Dress in Black: plush bonded velvet with a sculpted asymmetric collar over a plunging V, held in place by an internal bustier.
If you are dressing for black tie, the Bex in silver and the Farren are the two to try first. For a wedding, the Petra in ivory and black reads formal without competing with a bride in white.
The maxi dresses
- Karina One Shoulder Pleated Dress: the statement of the season. Italian stretch viscose satin is pleated in the weaving, then overprinted with a blue floral, so the colour moves across every fold. It drapes diagonally across the body and is lined in stretch charmeuse.
- Siena Tank Dress in Black: a fine viscose jersey knit, fitted through the body with a scoop neck, an attached scarf and a softly flared hem. The easiest long dress here to pack.
The midi dresses
- Fiora Draped Dress: printed black and white viscose satin with stretch pleats that change direction across the body, and an asymmetric skirt.
- Helena Dress in Ganache: deep brown crepe jersey with long dolman sleeves and a draped bodice gathered at the waist. The one to wear to dinner in November.
The mini dresses
- Sable Mini Dress: black velvet, a high boat neck and an A line shape, with a long mantle falling from the back of the neck.
- Joelle Mini Dress: structured blue floral stretch mikado, sleeveless with a high neck and side seam pockets.
How Brandon Maxwell dresses fit
Every dress this season is marked true to size, and the brand recommends your usual size. The house model is 178cm (5ft 10in) and wears a US 2, which is a UK 6. The pleated satin pieces, the Karina and the Fiora, have a little stretch, so if you are between sizes they are forgiving. How to style them
Maxwell’s dresses are designed to need very little. A single pair of earrings, a slim heel and a small bag is enough; the line of the dress should lead.
