Co-ord Sets for Women: The Luxury Occasion Edit 2026
Co-ord sets for women at the luxury end are two pieces cut from one fabric and sold separately, so you wear them as one look and split them later. Markarian makes four occasion co-ords for Fall 2026, in sequins, gold brocade, silver brocade and beading, all made in New York and lined in silk. Shop them alongside our designer skirts at Coveti.
What is a co-ord set?
In Britain, co-ord is the everyday word for a matching set: a top and a bottom in the same fabric, bought together and worn as one outfit. In the US the same idea is called a matching set, also a two-piece. Shoppers in Australia, Canada and the Gulf use both names. The appeal travels well. You get the impact of a dress, plus two pieces that go back into your wardrobe on their own.
Most co-ords on the high street are casual knit and linen. An occasion co-ord is closer to eveningwear: structured tops, lined skirts, metallic cloth and beading. That is where Markarian sits, and it is why its sets work for a wedding, a Christmas party and a black tie dinner. For the label itself, read who is Markarian. Lily and Mirage: the black and gold co-ord
The Lily Sequin Embellished Drape Top is black dupioni draped across a sculpted corset top and hand-embellished with gold sequins. The Mirage Sequin Embellished Midi Skirt is a fitted column in the same cloth, with a slit at the back for ease. Together they read as a column dress with a draped bodice.
How to split it: Mirage with a fine black knit and slingbacks is a dinner look. Lily goes over wide black trousers with a gold heel. More skirt ideas are in our sequin skirts guide.
Jasminium and Pia: the gold brocade co-ord
The Jasminium Gold Top is a fitted peplum with soft pleats at the waist and a clean V-neckline. The Pia Gold Midi Skirt flares the same gold brocade into a full A-line midi on a contrast black waistband. As a set, it is the most festive shape of the four, with a defined waist and a lot of skirt.
How to split it: Pia with a black cashmere crew and a metallic flat is the easiest daytime way into gold. Jasminium tucked over slim black trousers works for a cocktail party. Our brocade dresses guide explains how the fabric wears.
Maisie and Mira: the silver brocade co-ord
The Maisie Silver Corset Top is a signature Markarian shape with a round neckline and a scooped back. The Mira Silver Shorts are high-waisted and structured. From across a room the pair looks like a silver mini dress, and Markarian tags both pieces for the bridal after-party.
How to split it: Maisie over a long black skirt is a quieter evening look. Mira with sheer black tights and a loafer is how Markarian takes the shorts into winter.
Goldie and Aziza: the beaded co-ord
The Goldie Beaded Cape Top has long shoulder trains, a high neckline and an open back, all covered in sapphire, onyx and ivory-toned beads and sequins. The Aziza Beaded Slip Gown wears the same beading from strap to hem. Layered, it is a full-length beaded column with a cape, and it belongs at black tie.
How to split it: Aziza alone with a fine sandal is a clean formal gown. Goldie over a black column skirt makes a striking evening top.
Ila and Jasminium Navy Bouquet: the daytime co-ord
The Ila Navy Bouquet Trouser is cornflower blue cotton with metallic navy florals, an elastic waistband and side and back pockets. Markarian pairs it with the Jasminium Navy Bouquet Top from Pre-Fall 2026 as a set. It is the co-ord for a christening, a long lunch and Christmas Day, when a full brocade look would feel too much.
How to split it: Markarian suggests the trouser with a white shirt and loafers for daytime. Other Pre-Fall 2026 pairs live at Coveti include the Kit Pastel Plaid Halter Top with the Betsy Pastel Plaid Midi Skirt, and the Vega Ivory Linen Wrap Top with the Suri Ivory Linen Skirt.
How do you split a co-ord set without losing the look?
- Anchor with black. A plain black knit, shirt and trouser lets one metallic piece carry the outfit.
- Keep the proportion. A full skirt like Pia wants a close top; a column like Mirage takes a looser knit.
- Repeat one tone. Gold sandals with Pia, silver jewellery with Maisie. The echo makes a split look intentional.
- Buy one shoe for both. A heel that suits the full set will usually suit each half on its own.
Co-ords for two hemispheres
In London, Toronto and New York the party season falls in winter, so the brocade and beaded sets earn their keep with sheer tights, a long coat and a closed heel. In Sydney and Melbourne, December is summer: Mira shorts with a bare leg, Pia with a sleeveless top, and the Ila trouser for Christmas Day lunch all make sense. In the UAE and across the Gulf, where many weddings and dinners call for more coverage, the longer pieces do the work: Aziza is floor length, and Pia and Mirage are midi. For more December dressing see Christmas party outfits and our New Year’s Eve outfits guide, and for a lunch look, Christmas Day outfits.
Sizing a co-ord set
Coveti lists Markarian in UK sizes 4 to 18, converted from the brand’s US sizing (US 0 is UK 4, US 14 is UK 18). Australian sizes match the UK numbers, and EU sizes are UK plus 28, so a UK 8 is an EU 36 and a US 4. Because tops and bottoms are sold separately, you can take a UK 8 corset top with a UK 10 skirt. Corset tops like Maisie and Lily are fitted through the bodice, while the Ila trouser has an elastic waist. The Markarian size guide has fit notes by silhouette.
My own rule: if you are between sizes, size the corset top for your ribcage and the skirt for your waist, then let the set do the rest.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a co-ord set?
A co-ord set is a top and a bottom made in the same fabric to be worn together as one outfit. Co-ord is the British name; in the US it is usually called a matching set.
Can you wear a co-ord set to a wedding?
Yes. An occasion co-ord in brocade, sequins and beading is as formal as a dress. The Markarian Goldie top and Aziza gown suit a black tie wedding, and the Lily and Mirage set suits a cocktail wedding.
Can you wear a co-ord set separately?
Yes. Each Markarian piece is sold on its own, so the tops, skirts, shorts and trousers all work with plain black separates as well as together.
Can I buy different sizes for the top and the bottom?
Yes. The top and bottom of each set are sold separately at Coveti, so you can choose a different UK size for each piece.
Are Markarian co-ord sets lined?
Yes. All eight pieces in the four Fall 2026 sets are fully lined in 100% silk.
