Editor’s guide: wearing Bernadette
The house dresses itself by one rule, and its founders say it plainly: the feminine dress with a man’s coat. One print, plain everything else, and the second colour taken from the print’s ground. Here is that rule in four looks from the current stock.
1. The print and the plain shoe
The Dress Ezra in Hydrangea Green on Black, the house’s recurring midi in hydrangea green on black, with the Classic Satin Pump in Lime and nothing at the neck. The Dara Shirt in Lingerie Roses Red on Cream in silk, Lingerie Roses red on cream, is the same idea as a shirt.
2. The bow, under a heavy coat
The Short Dress Will in Icy Pink in icy pink taffeta with a statement bow at the back, and the Dress Lina in Morning Mist and Mocha, a mocha column with a mint bow, under a grey overcoat two sizes too big. The bigger the bow, the plainer the coat.
3. The knit and the skirt in one stitch
The Katt Sweater in Ruby Red Pointelle over the Katia Skirt in Ruby Red Pointelle, both in the house pointelle, which is the brand’s own pairing. On a colder day the Kane Sweater in Mint Hydrangea Intarsia on Camel, cut oversized with a hydrangea knitted across it, over a black slip. The Kira Cardigan in Ruby Red Pointelle is the cardigan version, and the one piece the house says to size down in.
4. The silk worn out of the bedroom
The Pyjama Louis Capri Silk Satin in Lingerie Roses Red on Cream with the shirt open over a vest and a heel, and the Peignoir Silk Crepe de Chine in Hydrangea Pink on Green over its own slip dress as an evening coat. The house sells both as ready-to-wear and means it.
The accessories, new this season
Coveti carries the Bernadette accessories for the first time from 22 September 2026: hand-embroidered silk brooches 18 cm across on a metal pin, like the Wild Rose Brooch in Black; velvet drawstring bucket bags lined in silk, like the Round Bag Embroidered in Black Lingerie Rose Embroidery on Black; 65 cm silk squares printed in Italy, like the Silk Scarf in Lingerie Roses Red on Cream; the Lingerie Rose Cashmere Socks in Black; long gloves; and the Classic Pump on a 4.5 cm kitten heel, made in Italy. One brooch at a time, on a plain colour, never on a print.
Sizing: European, shown on the UK ladder
Bernadette cuts EU 34 to 46 and prints a fit sentence on every page. Almost everything is true to size; the Kane and Sharon sweaters, the Everett shirt and the short George dress are cut oversized on purpose, the Ezra dresses carry a note to size up if you sit between two sizes, and the Kira cardigan in Ruby Red is the one piece the house says to size down in. The house model is 170 to 176 cm and wears EU 36 on every page. Knitwear in letter sizes rides the same rungs, so an EU 36 and a size S are the same garment; the pumps are whole EU sizes 35 to 41 and run true. The size guide carries the house body measurements.

Frequently asked questions
Who is Bernadette Antwerp?
The Antwerp label founded in 2018 by Charlotte de Geyter, a Royal Academy of Fine Arts graduate who draws every print by hand, with her mother Bernadette de Geyter, a former Ralph Lauren buyer who is co-founder and creative consultant. It trades as Bernadette Antwerp.
Is Bernadette a luxury brand?
Yes, in the contemporary luxury bracket: Italian silk, cashmere and RWS wool, hand embroidery in India, boned and lined bustiers, and prints drawn for the house. Ready-to-wear runs $890 to $3,040 at Coveti.
Where is Bernadette made?
Designed in Antwerp and made in six countries the house names on every page: Romania (24 pieces in stock), Portugal (16), China (11), Bulgaria (4), India (17) and Italy (5). Fabrics and yarns come from Italy.
Does Bernadette run true to size?
Yes, on the EU ladder shown at Coveti as UK 6 to 18. The Kane and Sharon sweaters, the Everett shirt and the short George are oversized by design, the Ezra sizes up between sizes, and the Kira cardigan in Ruby Red runs large.
Who wears Bernadette?
The house lists Rose Byrne in Dress Lenette in 2025, Gillian Anderson in the black Taffi dress in 2022, Gwyneth Paltrow in the Audrey dress and Dakota Johnson in the Robe in 2021; SheerLuxe adds Sandra Bullock in a red robe.
Do Bernadette prints come back?
Rarely. A print is drawn for one collection and the archive is not reissued, so a colourway that sells through is usually finished. The shapes return each season; the drawings on them change.
How should I care for Bernadette?
Dry clean the silk, taffeta, moire, velvet and embroidered pieces; blot a spill on silk rather than rub it. Hand wash the knits cool, reshape and dry flat, and store them folded. Keep the brooches away from water and store them flat.
