Organza Dress Guide 2026: 8 Huishan Zhang Pieces From $2,150
An organza dress is a dress cut from organza, a sheer, crisp plain weave that holds its shape away from the body instead of collapsing against it. Traditionally the cloth was silk; today it is just as often nylon and polyester. Coveti holds eight Huishan Zhang organza dresses, gowns and skirts, priced from $2,150 to $5,700, and this guide explains the cloth first and the pieces second.
What organza is
Organza is a plain weave: one thread over, one thread under, the simplest structure a loom makes. What gives it character is the yarn. The threads are fine, tightly twisted and woven at a high sett with open space between them, so light passes straight through while the cloth stays firm in the hand.
Silk organza was the original, and it remains the couture standard for its glow and its body. Nylon and polyester organza arrived later and now account for much of what is made, because synthetic filament holds a crisp finish well, resists creasing and carries dense embroidery without sagging.
About 18,100 people search for an organza dress worldwide each month, with roughly 4,400 of those searches in the United States and 1,300 in the United Kingdom.
How organza holds volume
Satin drapes. Chiffon floats. Organza stands. The twist in the yarn and the tightness of the weave give the cloth a natural stiffness, so a gathered skirt in organza keeps its circumference instead of falling flat, and a sleeve cut full stays full.
Used on the outside, the same stiffness becomes the point. A single layer of organza reads as a clear, architectural shell around the body. Because organza is so light, a full organza skirt can carry real scale while weighing far less than the equivalent in duchesse satin, which matters at a long evening event.
The trade off is that organza shows everything. Every seam allowance, every dart and every stitch is visible through the cloth unless it is finished cleanly, so organza is a test of the atelier. Huishan Zhang, who trained in pattern cutting at Central Saint Martins and worked in the haute couture atelier at Dior before launching his label in London, is a designer for whom that test suits the work.
The eight Huishan Zhang organza pieces
The current organza offer divides cleanly into three groups: long gowns, shorter dresses and midi skirts. Four of the eight are worked in the house’s green gold embellished organza, which appears across a gown, a dress and two skirts.
Gowns
- Beau Gown in Black Organza, $5,700
- Delphi Gown in Pink Flower Embroidered Organza, $5,320
- Ravina Gown in Green Gold Embellished Organza, $5,320
Dresses
- Hani Dress in Green Gold Embellished Organza, $3,830
- Violette Dress in Black Organza, $2,490
- Halle Dress in Sugar Coral Organza, $2,190
Midi skirts
- Lana Midi Skirt in Green Gold Embellished Organza, $2,520
- Vania Midi Skirt in Green Gold Embellished Organza, $2,150
The two skirts are a useful way into the cloth. A midi skirt in embellished organza paired with a plain knit gives you the fabric at evening strength from the waist down, and the full styling notes sit in our guide to Huishan Zhang sequin and embellished skirts.
Embroidered and embellished organza at Huishan Zhang
Plain organza is about line. Embroidered and embellished organza is about surface, and it is where the house spends its hand work. Organza is an ideal ground for this: the cloth is firm enough to hold a dense motif without puckering, and sheer enough that the decoration appears to sit on air.
The clearest example this season is the Delphi Gown from Resort 2027. It is cut in pink organza, 100% nylon and silk lined, worked all over with dimensional embroidered flowers. The sleeves are long and sheer, and the bodice is softly structured rather than rigid. In the campaign images the gown is worn with a belt; that belt is styling only and does not come with the dress. The full collection context is in our Huishan Zhang Resort 2027 guide.
The green gold embellished organza runs through four pieces: the Ravina Gown, the Hani Dress and the Lana and Vania midi skirts. Buying across that family lets you choose the scale of commitment, from a full gown at $5,320 to a skirt at $2,150. For a wider look at how the house handles applied decoration on other cloths, read our guide to embellished dresses.
The plain organza pieces, the Beau Gown and the Violette Dress in black and the Halle Dress in sugar coral, are named for the cloth alone, so the attention goes to the cut.

How we measured: the figures are Coveti’s live catalogue on 7 November 2026, prices in USD, in-stock pieces only, counted by the Coveti Studio. Colour is the catalogue colour family, so the sugar coral Halle Dress sits under Red.
Lining organza
Because organza is sheer, how a dress is lined decides how it wears. A full lining in silk turns the organza into a veil over a solid ground: the colour deepens, the shimmer softens and the dress becomes wearable without any thought about what sits beneath. The Delphi Gown takes this route, with a silk lining under its nylon organza.
Before you buy any organza piece, read the product page for its lining and composition notes, and if the house has not published them, contact Coveti before you commit.
Fit matters more in organza than in a soft cloth, because a crisp fabric will not ease over a measurement that is slightly out. Huishan Zhang states that its sizing is true to size and cuts UK 6 to UK 18; the house models are 178 cm and wear a UK 8. Our Huishan Zhang sizing guide converts those sizes for the US and Europe.
When to wear organza
Weddings. Organza is a natural wedding guest cloth: it has ceremony without the weight of satin, and it photographs with light moving through it. Pink and coral are the softer choice; save black organza for an evening reception where the invitation allows it. Our Huishan Zhang wedding guest guide covers the full range.
Galas. Embellished organza catches light at a step and repeat in a way that plain crepe does not, and a long gown like the Ravina holds its shape through a long night of standing. For a broader edit across houses, see our gala dresses page.
Garden parties. Daylight is where organza is most itself. The sheerness reads as freshness, the crispness survives a breeze, and a dress at knee to midi length is right for lawns, racing enclosures and summer lunches.
Related: Huishan Zhang tulle
Tulle is a different cloth: a fine net rather than a woven plain weave, softer and more open, with less snap. It also builds volume, but through layering rather than through stiffness. Coveti holds 11 Huishan Zhang tulle dresses and gowns from $1,370 to $9,430. A short selection, all tulle rather than organza:
- Micheline Gown in Black Embellished Tulle, $9,430
- Bligny Gown in Blush Tulle, $7,000
- Augusta Gown in Black Tulle, $6,260
- Selma Gown in Citronelle Tulle, $2,570
- Lorelei Gown in Pink Embroidered Tulle, $1,960

Caring for organza
Treat organza as a professional dry clean cloth, especially when it is embroidered, embellished and lined in silk; tell the cleaner about the decoration before they start. Spot clean nothing yourself, because water can mark silk organza and leave a ring.
Store organza hanging, on a padded hanger, in a breathable cotton cover with room around it. Never crush it into a drawer: the crispness that gives organza its volume also means a hard fold can set into a line. If a crease appears, steam from a distance with the dress hanging, and never press an iron directly onto embroidery. Our Huishan Zhang fabric guide covers the other cloths the house works in.
Organza dresses around the world
United States. The American calendar runs on charity galas in the autumn and spring, and on garden weddings from May to September. Organza suits both, and black organza is a strong answer to a black tie invitation in a city.
United Kingdom. The British summer season of racing, garden parties and country weddings is the natural home for organza in daylight colours.
Europe. Summer weddings across Italy, France and Greece are long, warm and late. Organza breathes better than heavier evening cloths, and a lined piece keeps its modesty from the church to the dinner table.
The Gulf (GCC). The main occasion season runs through the cooler months, with weddings and Eid celebrations at its centre. Long sheer sleeves over a lined body, as on the Delphi Gown, answer modest dress codes while keeping the lightness of the cloth.
Frequently asked questions
What is an organza dress?
An organza dress is cut from organza, a sheer, crisp plain weave that holds volume away from the body. It was traditionally made in silk and is now often made in nylon and polyester. The stiffness of the cloth lets skirts and sleeves keep a full shape without heavy layers.
How many Huishan Zhang organza pieces does Coveti carry?
Coveti holds eight Huishan Zhang organza pieces in stock: three gowns, three dresses and two midi skirts. They range from $2,150 for the Vania Midi Skirt in Green Gold Embellished Organza to $5,700 for the Beau Gown in Black Organza.
Is organza see through?
A single layer of organza is sheer, so most organza dresses are lined in the body. The Delphi Gown from Resort 2027 is silk lined under its nylon organza, with long sheer sleeves. Check the lining note on each product page before you buy.
Is organza good for a wedding guest dress?
Yes. Organza has a sense of occasion without the weight of satin, and it photographs well in daylight. Soft colours such as pink and coral suit day ceremonies, while black organza is better kept for an evening reception that allows it.
What is the difference between organza and tulle?
Organza is a woven plain weave with a crisp, papery handle that holds shape through stiffness. Tulle is a fine net, softer and more open, which builds volume through layering.
How do you care for an organza dress?
Have it professionally dry cleaned, and tell the cleaner about any embroidery. Store it hanging in a breathable cover so the crisp cloth does not set into folds, and remove creases with steam from a distance rather than an iron.
