Isabel Marant vs Isabel Marant Étoile: What Is the Difference?
By Gemma Deeks, Coveti Fashion Editor. Updated 14 October 2026.
Isabel Marant Étoile is the house’s second line. It launched at the Paris shows in 1999, five years after the main label, and it covers the everyday side of the wardrobe: knits, sweatshirts, denim, printed blouses and easy dresses. The main Isabel Marant line is the runway collection, with more tailoring, leather and evening pieces. Both are designed in Paris by the same studio.
At a glance
- Isabel Marant: the main runway line, launched in 1994.
- Isabel Marant Étoile: the more relaxed, lower-priced line, launched in 1999.
- Same designer, same Paris studio, same sizing.
- Étoile pieces carry their own label; shoes and bags are sold under Isabel Marant.
How the two lines differ
The main line carries the season’s ideas: sculpted shoulders, lurex, leather and printed silk. Étoile takes the same mood and puts it into pieces you can wear every day, often in cotton, wool blends and denim. Prices are lower, and the cuts are a little easier.
