The Needle and Thread new collection is Cruise 2027, released alongside a navy Pre-Spring 2027 capsule. What are the Thalia gowns?

Thalia is the centre of the collection. The brand describes the gowns as inspired by Swan Lake, and the construction follows the brief: N+T frills, graduating tulle scallops that get larger as they fall, and skirts built up from layers of net and tulle. The effect is a tutu stretched to the ankle, with real volume but very little weight.

Amaya is the second ballet reference, and it is the more structured of the two. The bodice is ruched and sits over an internal power-mesh corset, so it holds its shape without boning digging in. Rhinestones are set on the tulle for a low, scattered sparkle, and the sleeveless version has tulle bows across the arms.

You can choose between two colours and two sleeve lengths. The Amaya Shimmer Gown in Soft Peony is the prettiest thing in the collection, a dusty ballet pink that suits most skin tones better than a sugar pink would. The Amaya Shimmer Gown in Jet Black is the grown-up version, and the corset makes it a good black tie choice for anyone who wants support without a heavy fabric. Jet black carries the most styles. Autumn Winter 2026 was a garden and lace season. Its key colour was garnet, worn across Heart Lattice, Clover, Bow Lattice and Lily Bloom, and its stories were named for English and French references: Wild Rose, Rococo Ribbon, Palace Garden, Marie Toile de Jouy, Lovers Lace and Gilded Lace. It also brought the Sylvie cable jewelled capes, knitwear with embellishment.

Cruise 2027 swaps lace for tulle scallops and the garden for the theatre. The colours are cooler and more graphic, with black and moonbeam doing the heavy lifting, and the shapes are more corseted.
