The story in three chapters

Graphic animal. The collection opens on a mid-calf zebra coat in jet black and off white wool and fur with a high collar and rounded sleeves, then moves into crepe and scuba zebra dresses with deep V and bateau necklines. The animal story returns at the end in printed crepe, scuba and Mikado: a sweetheart dress with a cropped Mikado bolero, a fringed scuba dress, and a cropped halter top with a mini skirt.

Sequoia and sand. The middle of the show turns to leather, suede and snake print in Sequoia brown and Bleached Sand: a leather jacket over a tiered snake-print georgette dress, a strapless midi of layered leather fringe, draped crepe and suede suits with asymmetric panels, and two snake-inspired embroidered gowns finished with Charleston fringe at the hem.

Night. The evening section is pure house signature. Jet black velvet with light gold thread embroidery, strapless columns with pleated georgette capes, Linden Green and Cyber Leaf embroidered tulle, Nimbus Cloud gowns with silver embroidery, sequined thread lace in jet black and Linden Green, and two closing brocade gowns in jet black and gold.

The colours, explained

Sequoia is a warm brown that the house uses for leather, suede, snake print and velvet. Bleached Sand is a pale sand beige. Nimbus Cloud is a pale grey white. Linden Green is a soft lime, and Cyber Leaf a brighter, sharper green. Surf the Web is a deep blue, used on velvet and embroidered tulle over a black base. Jet black runs through 29 of the 61 looks and remains the collection’s anchor.

What it means for evening dressing this winter

Three ideas carry over to anything you buy now. First, the cape is back as the formal finish: 11 looks carry one, from a fluid floor-length cape on a Nimbus Cloud column to a pleated georgette cape over a strapless embroidered gown.
