ATP Atelier Shoe Size Guide: How Do They Fit?

0

ATP Atelier runs European sizing and cuts its leather shoes on an Italian last. The short answer for almost everyone is to order your usual European size: every ATP Atelier shoe page at Coveti gives the same advice, with no instruction to size up and none to size down. The longer answer is below, including what to do when you fall between two sizes and how the fit shifts between an open sandal and a closed boot.

ATP Atelier size conversion

EU UK US Foot length
35 2 5 22.1 cm
36 3 6 22.9 cm
37 4 7 23.8 cm
38 5 8 24.3 cm
39 6 9 25.1 cm
40 7 10 25.4 cm
41 8 11 26.3 cm
42 9 12 26.7 cm

The foot lengths in this table are ATP Atelier’s own size guide figures.

Foot lengths are approximate. They shift a little between an open sandal and a closed boot, so use them as a guide to the rung rather than a promise of fit.

How ATP Atelier shoes fit by style

Fit is consistent across the collection, but the shape of the shoe changes what a half size does for you.

  • Flat sandals and comfy sandals. True to size. The upper is open, so extra length shows as overhang rather than comfort. Start with the Alassio, then browse the sandals.
  • Loafers and slip-ons. True to size, with a closed toe that wears in rather than out. See the Airola and the rest of the loafers.
  • Ballet flats and Mary Janes. True to size, and cut on an Italian last like the rest of the range. See the flats.
  • Mules. True to size. The backless shape means the front of the shoe does all the holding, so a size too large slips at the heel. The Tavenna is the one to try.
  • Boots. True to size. Try them in the socks you plan to wear with them. The stretch suede Cerone gives across the shaft, and our guide to ATP Atelier boots sets out every shaft height. See the boots.
  • Slingbacks and pumps. True to size, on heels of 3.5 cm to 5.5 cm. The Lana slingback is the place to start.

Measuring your foot properly

Stand on a sheet of paper at the end of the day, when your feet are at their largest. Mark the heel and the longest toe, then measure between the marks. Compare that figure with the foot length column above and take the rung that is closest without going under. If one foot is longer, and for most people one is, fit the larger one.

What the leather does with wear

ATP Atelier works mainly in calf leather, nappa and suede, all on a leather lining. Each relaxes a little across the width as it warms to the foot. None of them gains length. That distinction matters: a shoe that is snug across the ball of the foot will ease, and a shoe that is short at the toe will stay short.

The full collection sits on the ATP Atelier brand page, and the designer shoe edit carries every style Coveti holds. If a pair does not fit, our delivery and returns terms are set out on the returns page. Frequently asked questions

What size should I take in ATP Atelier shoes?
Take your usual European size. ATP Atelier cuts its leather shoes on an Italian last and every style runs true to size, so the house size is the size to order.

Do ATP Atelier sandals run true to size?
Yes. The flat sandals and the comfy sandals both run true. Because the upper is open, a half size of extra room reads as overhang at the toe rather than comfort, so stay with your usual size.

What if I am between sizes?
On an open sandal take the smaller rung, because the straps do the holding. On closed shoes, such as loafers, boots and pumps, take the larger rung, since leather gives across the width and not along the length.

What sizes does ATP Atelier make?
Most styles run from EU 35 to 42. A few start at 36, such as the Verbania rubber boot. Each product page lists only the sizes that style is cut in.

How do ATP Atelier boots fit over the calf?
The Erve and Sarconi knee high boots are calf leather on a 44 cm shaft. If boots usually feel tight on you, look at the Cerone, whose stretch suede gives across the shaft.

Does the leather stretch?
Calf leather, nappa and suede all relax slightly with wear across the width. The length does not change, so never size down hoping a shoe will give.

How do I convert my UK size?
UK 4 is EU 37, UK 5 is EU 38, UK 6 is EU 39, UK 7 is EU 40. The full table above carries the foot length in centimetres, which is the most reliable check.

Where are ATP Atelier shoes made?
The leather shoes are handmade in Tuscany, Italy, by small family workshops. The exception is the collaboration with Tretorn: the Verbania rubber boot is designed in Sweden and is not made in Italy.
