The Best ATP Atelier Sandals to Buy

0

Sandals are the largest family in the ATP Atelier shoe range at Coveti, and the clearest expression of what the house does: plain shapes in good leather, handmade in Italy and meant to wear in rather than out. ATP Atelier was founded in Stockholm in 2011, and the design still reads Scandinavian even though every sandal is made by small family workshops in Tuscany. Here is every sandal family Coveti carries, what each one is for, and how to choose between them.

The short answer

Buy the Alassio. It is the plainest flat leather sandal in the line, in nappa leather on a leather lining. If you walk long distances on pavement, look at the Rosanna, one of the two styles the house files as comfy sandals.

Alassio, the plain flat

The Alassio is the one most people should start with: a flat sandal in nappa leather, leather lined, with nothing added. It comes in Black, Linen and Cannella. Nappa is soft from the first wear, and the shape wears in rather than out.

Allai, the calf leather flat

The Allai takes the same idea and cuts it in calf leather, which is a little firmer than nappa and holds its shape well. It comes in Black and Cannella, plus a black version with contrast stitching for a more graphic line.

Rosa, the cutout

The Rosa is the cutout flat. It is the dressiest of the flats and the one that reads least like a holiday shoe. You can have it in Linen and Black calf leather, and in Cannella and Walnut suede.

Velturno, the second calf flat

The Velturno is another flat in calf leather, in Black and Cannella. Put it beside the Allai and choose the shape that suits your foot. The leather, the lining and the make are shared.

Rosanna and Ultimo, the comfy line

ATP Atelier files two styles as comfy sandals, and they are the pair for long days on foot. The Rosanna comes in black calf leather and walnut suede. The Ultimo comes in black calf and in Mandorla grained calf, which hides small marks better than a smooth leather. On city pavement, these are the sandals to choose.

Rosate, Ledro and Mori, the dressier sandals

The Rosate is the cutout sandal on a heel, in Black and Cannella calf and in Walnut suede. The Ledro is the most formal shape, black nappa on a 5 cm heel that stays easy to walk in. The Mori adds an ankle strap in black calf leather for a more secure fit. None of them asks much of you, which is in keeping with the rest of the house.

Sizing and care

Every ATP Atelier sandal runs true to size in EU 35 to 42, so take your usual European size. Between sizes, take the smaller: on an open sandal the straps do the holding, and leather relaxes a little across the width as it is worn. Full conversions are in the ATP Atelier shoe size guide. Keep the sandals out of salt water and let them dry away from direct heat. Brush the suede pairs, and give calf and nappa a neutral leather cream now and then. Frequently asked questions

What are ATP Atelier sandals made of?
Calf leather, nappa leather, suede and grained calf, depending on the style. Every sandal has a leather lining and is handmade in Italy.

Do ATP Atelier sandals need breaking in?
Very little. They are made to wear in rather than out, and nappa styles such as the Alassio feel soft from the start. Calf leather takes a few more wears to relax.

Are ATP Atelier sandals lined?
Yes. Every sandal in the range Coveti carries has a leather lining, which feels better against bare skin than a synthetic one.

Which ATP Atelier sandal is the most comfortable?
The Rosanna and the Ultimo, which the house files as comfy sandals. For a heel, the Ledro sits on 5 cm and stays easy to walk in.

How should I care for leather sandals?
Wipe with a soft dry cloth and treat with a neutral leather cream now and then. Keep suede away from damp and brush it with a suede brush.

What size should I take in ATP Atelier sandals?
Your usual European size. Every sandal runs true to size in EU 35 to 42. Between sizes, take the smaller, since the straps hold the foot and the leather relaxes a little across the width.
