What is a cabochon?

A cabochon is a stone polished into a smooth dome rather than cut into facets. Faceted stones throw light back in sparks; a cabochon shows its colour and pattern across a soft curve instead. That is why the Trove pieces read as graphic from across a room: three solid rounds of colour against the metal. Rose quartz is a pink quartz, cloudy and milky rather than glassy, which suits the domed cut. The oak versions use the same shape in natural wood, so the grain becomes the pattern.

How to wear a statement cuff

A statement cuff is a wide, rigid bracelet that sits on the wrist bone rather than hanging loose like a bangle. It is the largest piece of metal you will wear, so it sets the tone.

• Wear one cuff and let it lead. Keep rings small and skip other bracelets on the same arm.
• Bare wrist, pushed sleeve. A cuff reads best on a sleeveless dress, a short sleeve and a shirt cuff rolled twice. With a knit, push the sleeve to the forearm and slide the open back cuff over it.

If you wear the belt on the hip rather than the natural waist, the hip is wider, so consider the next size up. Nappa is soft full grain lambskin, so the belt shapes to the body and the holes soften with wear rather than cracking.
