Christopher Esber Size Guide: AU, UK, US and EU Conversions
The single most useful thing to know before buying Christopher Esber: the label is cut on Australian sizing, and on the brand’s own conversion table Australian sizes map straight onto UK sizes with no offset. An AU 8 is a UK 8. An AU 12 is a UK 12. If you already know your UK size, you know your Esber size.
That trips people up because plenty of size charts online assume an Australian label needs converting down to UK. It does not. Below is the brand’s published table, plus the body measurements behind it.

| Letter | XXS | XS | S | M | L | XL |

Sizes shown on Coveti product pages are UK.
Body measurements
These are the body measurements the brand publishes for each size. They describe the body the garment is cut for, not the finished garment, so use them to place yourself on the ladder rather than to predict how much ease a specific piece has.
| UK / AU size | 4 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 | 14 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bust | 78.5 cm | 80 cm | 85 cm | 90 cm | 95 cm | 100 cm |
| Waist | 59.5 cm | 62 cm | 68 cm | 73 cm | 78 cm | 83 cm |
| Hip | 86.5 cm | 89 cm | 94 cm | 99 cm | 104 cm | 109 cm |
Note the jump between a 6 and an 8. The waist opens up six centimetres there against two and a half between a 4 and a 6, so the ladder is not evenly spaced at the bottom. If you sit between those two, the measurement matters more than the number you usually take.
Does Christopher Esber run true to size?
Yes. The house publishes no blanket sizing correction, which in our experience is the honest signal: labels that run small usually say so. Take your normal UK size and it will be right on most of the range.
Two exceptions worth knowing.
- Ruched jersey and body-contouring knits. These stretch with wear and settle closer than a woven of the same size. If you are between sizes on a jersey piece, the smaller one usually holds better after a few wears. The Aiba Draped Shirt Dress is a good example of the fabric behaviour.
- Swim. One style in the current range, the Pierced Orbit One Piece, carries the brand’s own instruction to size up. Where a piece has a sizing note the product page states it, and where there is none the piece is cut true.
Tailoring runs true and needs no adjustment. The Bennett Silk Pant and the Relaxed Denim Quartz Jean both behave as the number suggests.
The Orion gown, one of the most searched Esber pieces, is listed by the brand as true to size. Both the Orion Gown and Orion Separation Gown are 71% rayon and 29% polyester, with a fitted ruched bodice and a free skirt from the drop waist, so match your bust and waist. The model on the brand photographs is 180cm and wears an AU 8.
Choosing between two sizes
Measure your waist first. Esber places a lot of construction at the waist and hip, gathered panels, orbit hardware, cut-outs, so that is where a size decision is usually made. Bust is the more forgiving measurement on the draped pieces because the drape absorbs it.
For a fitted jersey piece, take the size your waist lands on. For tailoring and outerwear like the Dannie Jersey Jacket, take the size your bust lands on so the shoulder sits correctly, since a shoulder is the one thing an alteration cannot fix cheaply.
Footwear and accessories
Christopher Esber shoes are made in Italy and sold in Italian sizing, which lines up with EU sizing, so an IT 38 is an EU 38. Coveti shows the sizes as EU. Most styles carry no correction from the brand, with two clear exceptions.
| Style | Brand sizing note | What to order |
|---|---|---|
| Jo Flip Flop | Runs small | A full size up |
| Billi T-Bar Flat | Runs small | A full size up |
| Saskia Stranded Flat | Size up for a wider foot | Your usual size, one up for a wide foot |
| Heels, mules, wedges, boots and other flats | No correction published | Your usual Italian size |
Shoes run from IT 35 to IT 41, with some styles starting at 36. Belts are sized by length in centimetres, from 70 cm to 90 cm. Bags are one size: the Turnlock Mini measures 18 x 11 x 9 cm with a 14 cm strap drop. Sunglasses are an international fit. Read more in our guides to Christopher Esber shoes and the Turnlock bag.
Questions we get asked
What size is an AU 8 in UK?
A UK 8. Australian and UK women’s sizing use the same numbers on the Christopher Esber conversion table, so there is no conversion to do.
What is a Christopher Esber size 10 in US sizing?
A US 4 to 6, and an Italian 43. The label’s own chart gives a range for the US mid-sizes.
Is Christopher Esber true to size?
Yes on the great majority of the clothing. The brand publishes no general sizing correction, and where an individual style needs one the product page says so. In footwear, the Jo flip flop and Billi T-Bar Flat run small.

Some pieces do, mostly knitwear and swim. XXS is a UK 4 and XL is a UK 14 on the brand’s table.
Do Christopher Esber flip flops run small?
The Jo flip flop does. Christopher Esber says it runs small and recommends sizing up a full size. The Billi T-Bar Flat, made from the same PVC, carries the same note.
What size system do Christopher Esber shoes use?
Italian sizing, which matches EU sizing. An IT 38 is an EU 38, roughly a UK 5 and a US 8.
Does the Christopher Esber Orion gown run true to size?
Yes. Christopher Esber lists the Orion Gown and Orion Separation Gown as true to size, on Australian sizing that matches UK sizing.
