Polène Boky: The New Book Bag, Explained

Boky is the newest Polène bag, and it starts from a book. The design assembles pouches with folds that look like pages, stitches that recall bookbinding and a twisted central fold, a delicately pleated page, which the house calls its signature. The name is a reworking of the English word “book”. Coveti carries it in 7 colours on 13 October 2026, at $1,400.

Key facts

  • Size: 26 x 18 x 11 cm, 670 g.
  • Inside: three assembled pouches, two zipped and one magnetic.
  • Carry: crossbody, on the shoulder and in the hand.
  • Leather: textured full-grain Spanish calf leather, with an Italian suede lining.
  • Made in: Spain, like every Polène bag made by the house’s artisans in Ubrique.
  • Colours at Coveti: Textured Black, Textured Black Cherry, Textured Camel, Textured Desert, Textured Ebony, Textured Smoky Green, Textured Taupe.

How the pouches work

Most bags have one main space and a pocket. Boky is three pouches assembled into one: two close with zips and one with a magnet. In practice that means a zipped section for valuables, a second zipped one for cards and keys, and a quick-access magnetic section for the phone. It is the most organised bag Polène makes at this size.

Size and capacity

At 26 x 18 x 11 cm it sits between the Numéro Dix and the Mokki. It takes a phone, a full-size wallet, sunglasses, keys and a small make-up pouch. The strap, worn long, puts it across the body; shortened, it sits on the shoulder.

Leather and lining

The outer is textured full-grain Spanish calf, the grain that hides marks best. The lining is Italian suede, which is unusual at this price and feels softer than the cotton linings on many Polène bags. Suede linings attract lint, so give it a shake now and then.

Colours

Boky launches in seven textured shades: black, ebony (a deep brown), camel, taupe, desert, smoky green and black cherry. Taupe and desert are the most versatile; smoky green and black cherry are the ones to choose if you want colour without brightness. See the new autumn 2026 colours.

Boky against the Numero Dix and the Mokki

The Numéro Dix is lighter at 386 g and smaller, with one zipped space and two straps; it is the better travel bag. The Mokki is wider at 32.5 cm, with two compartments under a flap, and looks more formal. Boky sits between them: more organised than the Dix, softer and more casual than the Mokki, and the only one of the three lined in suede. If you already own a Dix and want something that takes a wallet, Boky is the natural next bag. See the Numéro Dix guide and the Mokki guide.

How to style the Boky

Because the folds are the decoration, keep the rest of the outfit plain. Black Boky with grey tailoring and white trainers is an easy weekday look. Taupe and desert work with denim and a camel coat. Smoky green and black cherry look best against navy, cream and charcoal, where the colour reads as rich rather than bright. Worn crossbody, keep the strap long enough that the bag sits at the hip, where the pouches can open without catching.

Is the Boky worth it?

If you like your bag organised, yes: three separate pouches, two of them zipped, in a crossbody shape. It is a little heavier than its size suggests at 670 g, because of the extra leather in the folds.
