Polène Numéro Dix: Size, Straps, Leathers and How to Wear the Half-Moon Bag

The Numéro Dix is Polène’s half-moon bag, and the house describes it as a nod to saddlery: a rounded shape with foam padding and hand-sewn stitches. It is one of the most versatile bags the brand makes because it arrives with two straps, so the same bag works across the body, on the shoulder, at the waist and tucked under the arm. Why two straps matter

Most half-moon bags pick a lane: a shoulder bag that is awkward across the body, a belt bag that cannot go on the shoulder. The Numéro Dix solves that with two straps in the box. The long 138 cm strap sits across the body at hip height on most people and drops to the waist when worn on one shoulder. The short 106 cm strap turns it into a baguette tucked under the arm, and it is long enough to wear around the waist. Swap them in a few seconds and you have a travel bag, an evening bag and a belt bag in one.

What fits inside

At 24 x 20 x 7.5 cm it takes a large phone, a card holder, keys, a lipstick and a pair of folded sunglasses. The leathers

The standard bag is textured calf, which is the most forgiving finish. Smooth calf, on the Galop and some core colours, looks dressier and shows marks more. This season Polène added a crocodile-embossed nubuck in taupe: the Numéro Dix in crocodile nubuck taupe, a soft, matt finish that wants a suede brush and a dry day. Galop and Micro

The Galop keeps the Dix shape in smooth leather with a different lining, at 480 g. The Micro is a charm-sized version, 11 x 15 x 5.5 cm, made from upcycled offcuts with a 40 to 50 cm strap; it holds cards and a lipstick, and many people clip it to a bigger bag. Is the Numero Dix worth it?

It is the easiest Polène to wear every day: light at 386 g, zipped, and with two carry lengths that cover most of what a small bag needs to do. If you need more space, the Numéro Neuf and the Boky are the next step up.
