Who Is Taller Marmo? The 2026 Guide to the Kaftan House

0

Taller Marmo is an eveningwear label founded in 2013 by Riccardo Audisio and Yago Goicoechea, two Istituto Marangoni graduates who launched in Dubai with fluid kaftans inspired by 1960s and 1970s jet-set style. Every piece is made in Italy, and Coveti carries the label worldwide, including the new Fall 2026 collection.

That is the short answer. The longer one is more interesting, because Taller Marmo sits in an unusual place in luxury fashion. It is an Italian-made house with a Gulf birthplace, a kaftan specialist that also cuts some of the most theatrical gowns on the evening circuit, and a label whose best pieces return season after season instead of chasing trends. This guide covers the founders, the name, the signature pieces, the fabrics, how the clothes fit and where to buy them.

Who founded Taller Marmo?

Taller Marmo was founded by Riccardo Audisio and Yago Goicoechea, who met as students at the Istituto Marangoni in Milan.

The two designers started the label together in 2013. Milan gave them their training and, later, their production base. The idea for the brand itself came together in Dubai, where they launched with a tight offer of long, fluid kaftans. That origin explains a great deal about the label today: it was built for warm evenings, long dinners and a client who travels with a suitcase full of occasions.

The house now works between Milan and Dubai. The design language carries both cities. There is Italian tailoring discipline in the cut and finish, and a Gulf sense of evening dressing in the volume, the coverage and the drama.

What does the name Taller Marmo mean?

The name joins two languages: “taller” is Spanish for workshop, while “marmo” is Italian for marble.

Read together, it means something like “the marble workshop”. It is a fitting name for a house whose clothes are sculptural without being stiff. A Taller Marmo column dress falls the way carved drapery does on a statue, in long clean folds, and the fabrics are chosen for exactly that weight and fall. The Italian half also happens to describe where the clothes are made.

When and where did Taller Marmo start?

Taller Marmo started in Dubai in 2013, and the label now works between Milan and Dubai.

The first collections were kaftans, cut long and fluid, drawing on the jet-set wardrobes of the 1960s and 1970s. Picture the resort evenings of that era: bare feet on a terrace, a single dramatic garment doing all the work. From the start, the kaftan was treated as eveningwear, not as a cover-up.

In 2016 the label was a finalist for the International Woolmark Prize, an early mark of recognition for a young label.

What is Taller Marmo known for?

Taller Marmo is best known for fringed and feather-trimmed evening kaftans, with the Mrs Ross Kaftan as its most recognised design.

The house signatures are easy to spot once you know them. These are the pieces that define the label, and most of them return season after season in new colours and fabrics.

  • The Mrs Ross Kaftan. A house classic since 2019, framed by more than seven metres of fluid fringe. The Mrs Ross Kaftan in emerald green is cut in crepe cady to an ankle-length line, with a high scarf neckline trimmed in tonal fringe. We cover it in depth in our Mrs Ross Kaftan guide.
  • The Del Rio. A column dress with long bell sleeves finished in ostrich-feather boa. The Del Rio Dress in emerald green keeps the central line clean and lets the feathers move at the wrist.
  • The Mila Kaftan. A maxi kaftan with sixty functional buttons along the neckline, so you can wear it off the shoulder, cold-shoulder and in other arrangements. The Mila Satin Kaftan in midnight blue is the current version in double viscose satin.
  • The OOO Kaftan. Named for “Out Of Office”, it pairs generous volume with a plunging neck and a front slit. See the OOO Kaftan in midnight blue.

Beyond the kaftans, the label has built a strong following for its gowns. The Notte Gown in black is a good example: a sleeveless crepe cady bodice, a low-waisted skirt embroidered with maxi sequins and tube beads, and a seam of ostrich-feather boa where the two meet. For a broader look at the shape that made the house, read our guide to Taller Marmo kaftans.

Who wears Taller Marmo?

Taller Marmo has dressed actresses, musicians and broadcasters, and the label’s reach has grown mostly through the women who wear it.

According to the house, Naomi Watts was the first to wear the Notte Gown, in New York. The singer Olivia Dean wore a custom Taller Marmo gown on stage in Minneapolis during her The Art of Loving tour. Tamron Hall wore the Gloria fringed crepe kaftan on her talk show. The actress Rossy de Palma has a long association with the label, as Glass Magazine has noted.

The wider client is easier to describe than to name. She dresses for weddings, galas, holidays with a dress code and long dinners. She wants coverage without looking covered up, and movement without fuss. Those needs map neatly onto wedding guest and mother of the bride dressing, and onto a holiday wardrobe that has to pack small.

How are Taller Marmo clothes made?

All Taller Marmo pieces are made in Italy, and the brand recommends professional dry cleaning only.

Fabric is where the label spends its effort. The core cloth is a viscose-blend crepe cady, a matte, weighty crepe that drapes in long folds and holds a column shape without clinging. Alongside it the house uses double viscose satin for its liquid evening pieces and a viscose and silk velvet for winter. The most precious fabrics are woven in Como: silk fil coupe with baroque damask motifs, and metallic organza that gives a sheer, structured volume over a slip.

Fabric Composition on Coveti What it does Example
Crepe cady 78% acetate, 22% viscose Matte, fluid, weighty drape Astor Dress
Stretch crepe cady 74% acetate, 22% viscose, 4% elastane Close, smooth fit with give Dragon Gown
Double viscose satin 62% acetate, 38% viscose Liquid sheen, catches the light Butterfly Gown
Velvet 82% viscose, 18% silk Deep colour, winter weight Musidora Gown
Silk fil coupe 100% silk Sheer with a woven damask motif Chimera Gown

The finishing details are consistent across the line: scarf-like high necks, attached shawls with long fringes, cold shoulders, high side slits and the ostrich-feather boa that has become a house signature. The look is covered and fluid, with one controlled reveal, usually a shoulder, an arm in a sleeve slit, a leg through a slit.

How does Taller Marmo sizing work?

Taller Marmo cuts Italian sizes IT 36 to 48, the brand says its sized pieces fit true to size, and many kaftans come in one size.

Coveti lists the sized pieces in UK sizes. IT 36 is a UK 4, IT 38 a UK 6, IT 40 a UK 8, IT 42 a UK 10, IT 44 a UK 12, IT 46 a UK 14 and IT 48 a UK 16. US sizing is roughly the UK size minus four, so an IT 38 is close to a US 2.

The one-size kaftans are cut, in the brand’s words, to fit comfortably between an Italian 36 and an Italian 48. Not every kaftan is one size: the sheer layered styles over a slip, such as the Sphinx and the Kintsugi, are sized. Models on the brand site are 173 to 180 cm tall and wear an IT 38, with one size in the kaftans. The full conversion table and fit notes by silhouette are in our Taller Marmo size guide.

How does Taller Marmo compare with other evening labels?

Taller Marmo is more fluid and more covered than most evening labels, and it builds drama from fringe, feathers and volume rather than corsetry.

The closest comparison on Coveti is Safiyaa, which also dresses a client who wants modest, architectural eveningwear, though Safiyaa leans on structured crepe and capes where Taller Marmo leans on movement. 16Arlington shares the love of feathers and a party mood, with shorter, sexier shapes. The Attico shares the seventies references with more of a nightclub edge. Elie Saab works in heavier embellishment and classic couture gowns.

What sets Taller Marmo apart is the kaftan. Few labels have taken one garment and built a whole evening house around it. If you like the label and want to explore around it, our edit of brands like Taller Marmo goes deeper.

What is in the Taller Marmo Fall 2026 collection?

Fall 2026 is a 1920s and silver-screen collection of 59 pieces, now on Coveti.

The house looked at Paul Poiret’s cocoon shapes, flapper low waists, film-noir sequins and Old Hollywood mermaid skirts. The palette runs through midnight blue, black, juniper, emerald green, antique bronze and antique gold, with multicolour iridescent sequins for the boldest looks. Highlights include the Hollywood Disco Gown, worked in three-dimensional sequins with ostrich-feather boa at the neck and hem, and the cocoon-shaped 1910 Kaftan in black. Our full Taller Marmo Fall 2026 edit covers the key looks and matching sets.
