Embroidered Trousers: How to Wear Them and 10 to Buy
Embroidered trousers are trousers decorated with stitched thread, in a band down the leg, at the hem and sometimes over the whole surface, and the best pairs keep the embroidery to one strong idea on a plain, fluid cut. Our wide-leg trousers edit is the place to start, and this guide leads with the embroidered and printed pieces on the Andres Otalora brand page, with styling help from our guide to how to wear wide-leg trousers.
Key facts
- Embroidery is stitched into the fabric with thread, while a print is applied to the surface.
- The Andres Otalora Lo Harias Embroidered Pants are made in 53% rayon and 47% nylon in a beige and black stripe.
- The Lo Nuestro Pants are beige linen with a printed maxi chrysanthemum motif.
- The Tan Amada top and Invernal maxi skirt are both black with ivory embroidery in 92% rayon and 8% polyester.
Below: what to look for in embroidered pants (the US term) and trousers, how to wear them with plain tops, how embroidery differs from a print, and ten picks from the Andres Otalora Fall Winter 2026 collection and earlier seasons. What makes embroidered trousers worth buying?
Good embroidery is flat, even and placed with intent. When you look closely, the stitches should lie smoothly against the ground fabric, without puckering, and the design should follow the line of the leg rather than fight it.
Three things separate a pair you will keep from one you will tire of. First, placement: a single band down the outside of the leg lengthens the body, while all-over embroidery is a statement best kept for evening. Second, the ground cloth: a fluid fabric, such as the rayon and nylon blend Andres Otalora uses, lets the embroidered trouser move instead of hanging stiffly. Third, contrast: tone-on-tone embroidery is quiet and easy to wear; ivory on black, and black on beige, are more graphic and do more of the work for you.
Embroidery also adds a little weight to a cloth, which helps a wide leg hang straight and keeps the hem from flaring in the wind.
Is embroidery the same as a print?
No. Embroidery is stitched into the fabric with thread and has a raised texture you can feel; a print is ink on the surface and is flat to the touch. Both have their place, but they wear differently.
The Lo Nuestro trouser in this edit is a good example of the second kind: its chrysanthemum motif is printed on linen, not embroidered. It gives you the decorative effect with the lightness of plain linen. The Lo Harias, by contrast, is genuinely embroidered, with embroidery running down the leg over a beige and black stripe.
How do you wear embroidered trousers?
Let the trousers lead and keep the top plain, close-fitting and in one of the colours of the embroidery. That single rule covers most outfits.
- With a poplin shirt. A crisp cotton poplin shirt, tucked in, gives a clean line above a decorated leg. The black Una Pausa, which ties at the front, works with both the black and the beige pieces.
- With a silk blouse. Silk double georgette, a heavier two-ply crepe georgette, drapes softly and suits evening. Choose off-white with beige embroidery and black with black.
- With a matching top. For a two-piece, match the embroidery: the Tan Amada top and Invernal skirt share ivory embroidery on black, and the wine Sombra Clara pairs with the wine Latiendo.
- With a fine knit. In winter, a close merino roll neck in black and camel keeps the outfit warm without competing.
- Shoes. A wide leg needs a heel and a platform to keep the hem off the floor; a pointed flat works if the trousers are hemmed to the ankle.
- Jewellery. One piece, in gold. The trousers are the ornament.

Ten embroidered and printed pieces worth buying
Andres Otalora leads this edit with the embroidered Lo Harias and the printed Lo Nuestro, followed by matching embroidered tops and skirts, two plain blouses to wear with them and two earlier trousers already at Coveti.
1. Lo Harias Embroidered Pants
The Lo Harias is a wide-leg trouser in a beige and black stripe, made in 53% rayon and 47% nylon, with embroidery running down the leg as a quiet detail over a fluid line. It anchors a fitted top and needs very little else.
2. Lo Nuestro Pants
The Lo Nuestro is a light wide-leg trouser in beige linen, printed with a maxi chrysanthemum that climbs the side of the leg. It is printed rather than embroidered, so it is the lighter choice for warm days and travel.
3. Tan Amada Embroidered Top
The Tan Amada is a strapless black top in 92% rayon and 8% polyester, banded with ivory embroidery. Worn above the Invernal skirt it makes an evening two-piece, and above plain black trousers it carries the embroidery to the top half instead.
4. Invernal Embroidered Maxi Skirt
The Invernal is a black maxi skirt in the same 92% rayon and 8% polyester, bordered with ivory embroidery that also traces the front split. If you prefer a skirt to trousers, this is the embroidered piece to choose.
5. Sombra Clara Embroidered Top
The Sombra Clara is a wine strapless top in 69% rayon, 27% nylon and 4% spandex, with embroidered stripes crossing the bodice. Wine is a deep purplish red that reads as dressed on its own.
6. Latiendo Pants
The Latiendo is a wine wide-leg trouser in the same rayon, nylon and spandex blend as the Sombra Clara. On its own it is the plain trouser to wear under an embroidered top; together they make a matched set.
7. Donde Reposa Embroidered Midi Dress
For a one-piece alternative, the Donde Reposa is a fluid midi dress in 53% rayon and 47% nylon, the same blend as the Lo Harias, with embroidery that adds texture and dimension.
8. Una Pausa Blouse in Black
The Una Pausa in black is a crisp cotton poplin blouse that ties at the front. Tucked into the Lo Harias, it is the plain top this guide keeps coming back to.
9. Luz de Si Pant
From an earlier resort season, the Luz de Si Pant is already live at Coveti. Check the product page for its fabric and finish; it is a useful second trouser for warmer months.
10. Me Hablas Pant
The Me Hablas Pant, also from an earlier season, rounds out the edit. Compare its leg shape with the Fall Winter 2026 pairs before you choose.

Wearing embroidered trousers around the world
Embroidered trousers suit every climate; what changes is the weight of the cloth and the top above it.
In the US, the beige Lo Harias works for spring and summer weddings and gallery evenings, and in a cold city winter it goes under a long coat with a knit. In the UK, linen like the Lo Nuestro is a summer trouser, while the rayon and nylon pairs carry through autumn with a roll neck. Across Europe, an embroidered trouser with a poplin shirt is a natural fit for long lunches in the south and dinners in the north. In the Gulf, the winter months are wedding season and evenings stay warm: wide embroidered trousers with a long, loose blouse in silk give full, modest coverage and stay cool, and the wine and black pieces suit evening celebrations in Dubai, Riyadh and Doha.
How do Andres Otalora trousers fit?
Take your usual size and check the hip measurement on a wide leg. Andres Otalora cuts in US sizes 0 to 12 and Coveti lists the UK equivalent: a US 0 is a UK 4, a US 4 is a UK 8 and a US 6 is a UK 10. The house size chart gives body measurements (bust, waist and hip in centimetres) rather than garment measurements, and the brand gives no fit corrections, so take your usual size and check the chart on each product page. Wide trousers are best hemmed for the shoe you will wear most, so try them with that heel before taking them to a tailor.
Caring for embroidered trousers
The brand publishes no care labels online, so follow the label inside each pair. Turn embroidered trousers inside out before steaming, never press an iron directly onto the stitching, and hang them full length by the waistband so the embroidery does not crease. Linen can be pressed while slightly damp.
More labels to browse
For further embroidered and printed trousers, look at Johanna Ortiz and Silvia Tcherassi, both Colombian labels, and La DoubleJ. Our guide to Colombian fashion designers covers the wider scene, and bustier tops has more on the strapless tops above.
Frequently asked questions
Are embroidered trousers in style?
Yes. Embroidered wide-leg trousers are part of the Andres Otalora Fall Winter 2026 collection, worn with plain tops for day and matching embroidered tops for evening.
What top goes with embroidered pants?
A plain, close-fitting top in one of the embroidery colours, such as a black cotton poplin shirt with black and beige embroidery. Tuck it in to show the waist.
What is the difference between embroidered and printed trousers?
Embroidery is stitched into the fabric and has a raised texture, while a print is ink on the surface and is flat. The Lo Nuestro is printed and the Lo Harias is embroidered.
Can you wear embroidered trousers to a wedding?
Yes. Pair them with a silk blouse and a heel for day, and with a matching embroidered top for evening.
How do you care for embroidered trousers?
Follow the garment label, steam them inside out and never iron directly on the stitching. Hang them full length to protect the embroidery.
Can you wear embroidered trousers in winter?
Yes. Choose a heavier blend such as rayon and nylon over linen, and add a fine knit and a long coat.
