Colombian Fashion Designers: What Defines the Style and 8 Pieces to Buy
Colombian fashion designers are best known for print, strong colour and dressing built for heat and celebration: long printed dresses, wide trousers, swimwear and resort pieces made for weddings, holidays and long evenings. Coveti carries four Colombian labels, led by the Andres Otalora brand page, and our profile of who Andres Otalora is is a good place to start.

Then it names the Colombian labels at Coveti and leads the picks with Andres Otalora, whose Fall Winter 2026 collection is designed in Cali and labelled Made in Colombia.
What defines Colombian luxury fashion?
Colombian luxury fashion is defined by print, colour, a strong link to craft and a focus on resort and occasion dressing. Those four traits show up across very different labels.
Print is usually the starting point. Florals, graphic patterns and borrowed textile motifs are cut into whole outfits rather than used as a single accent. At Andres Otalora, the Fall Winter 2026 prints are a Tribal Ikat, abstract florals and chrysanthemums. Ikat proper is a resist-dye technique in which yarns are bound and dyed before weaving; the Andres Otalora version is a printed ikat pattern, explained in our guide to what ikat is.
Colour
Colour is used with confidence: reds, greens, yellows and strong contrasts such as black and ecru. Plain pieces tend to come in rich solids, such as wine and lime, rather than greys.
Craft heritage
Many Colombian designers refer to the craft traditions and landscapes of Latin America. Andres Otalora describes its Fall Winter 2026 season as drawing on the heritage, nature and artistic expression of the highland landscapes of Latin America, and as traditional craft read through a contemporary lens. In the clothes, that shows as embroidery, embellishment and print rather than as a costume.
Resort and occasion dressing
The clothes are made for warm weather and for events. Linen, cotton, viscose and silk dominate, and the shapes are long dresses, caftans, strapless tops and wide trousers that work at a wedding, on holiday and at a dinner.

How to choose a piece from a Colombian designer
Choose by occasion and fabric, and let one print carry the outfit.
- For a wedding, pick a long printed dress in viscose and polyester, which drapes well under evening light.
- For resort, choose linen and silk, which stay cool and pack easily.
- For work, choose a plain silk blouse and a printed wide trouser.
- For a first piece, choose a print you will wear more than once, such as a black and ecru floral.
- Keep the rest of the look plain: one print, solid shoes, simple jewellery.
Eight Colombian designer pieces to buy, led by Andres Otalora
All eight come from the Andres Otalora Fall Winter 2026 collection, each labelled Made in Colombia. They cover the main shapes of Colombian occasion and resort dressing.
1. Memoria Densa Midi Dress in Cress Green Tribal Ikat
The Memoria Densa is a fluid linen midi dress in the cress green Tribal Ikat, with brown and white. It is the clearest example of a Colombian label reworking a textile motif as print, and it suits a celebration as well as a gallery opening. Our guide to ikat dresses has more.
2. Un Martini Maxi Dress
The Un Martini is a long halter dress in polyester, printed in red and ivory abstract floral. It is the season’s strongest wedding-guest dress; see our guide to winter wedding guest dresses.
3. Gesto Continuo Embellished Caftan
The Gesto Continuo is a red caftan in silk crinkle chiffon, a sheer chiffon with a permanent crinkle, finished with embellishment. It is the resort piece of the collection; our guide to kaftan dresses covers the shape.
4. De los Astros Pleated Top
The De los Astros is a strapless top in beige linen, with soft pleats wrapping the bodice. A strapless top is fitted at the bust and stops at the waist, so it pairs with full skirts and wide trousers. See our guide to bustier tops.
5. Me Quedas Pants in Cress Green Tribal Ikat
The Me Quedas is an easy wide-leg trouser in 95% polyester and 5% elastane, printed with the cress green ikat. Wear it with a plain blouse to let the print lead; our guide to wide-leg trousers has more.
6. Invernal Embroidered Maxi Skirt
The Invernal is a black maxi skirt in 92% rayon and 8% polyester, with ivory embroidery bordering the skirt and tracing its front split. Keep the top half simple and let the embroidery show.
7. Permanecer Blouse
The Permanecer is a one-shoulder blouse in black silk double georgette, a heavier two-ply crepe georgette with a soft drape. It works with tailoring as well as with denim.
8. Lo que Late Leather Belt
The Lo que Late is a wide, structured black leather belt that wraps the waist and ties at the front. It marks the waist on the loose dresses; see our guide to wide leather belts.

How to wear Colombian designer pieces in winter
Wear them as party, travel and indoor clothes, and layer with plain winter pieces. Light fabrics and strong prints need very little to work in the cold months.
A linen midi dress takes a fine black knit over the top, opaque tights and a knee boot, and the print still shows from the waist down. A long viscose dress goes under a camel coat for the journey to a winter wedding, then stands on its own once the coat comes off. A strapless top in linen and rayon looks right under a black blazer, with a wide trouser in the same colour for a column. The silk caftan is the holiday piece: it packs flat, the crinkle hides creases and it works by the pool and at dinner. For colour, wine and red read warm in winter light, and black and ecru prints sit well beside grey and navy wool.
December is the busiest month for this kind of dressing, and the reason is plain: party season, winter weddings and holiday travel all ask for the kind of printed, light, celebratory dressing that Colombian labels make. Our guides to red dresses and burgundy wide-leg trousers have more winter colour ideas.

Wearing Colombian designers around the world
Colombian designer clothes are cut for warmth, so the season you buy for depends on where you live. In the US, these clothes come into their own around the holidays and the winter-wedding season, and the long printed dresses suit the South, Florida and California as they are; Miami has its own Andres Otalora boutique. In the UK and northern Europe, treat the linen and viscose pieces as resort and summer clothes, and wear the long dresses to winter parties with a coat and tights. Southern Europe suits the caftans and poplin shirts for much of the year. In the Gulf, the winter weddings season is the key moment: long printed dresses, caftans and silk blouses work in evening heat, and wide trousers and maxi skirts layer easily for modest dressing.
How do Colombian designer clothes fit?
Fit varies by label, so check each brand page. For Andres Otalora: Andres Otalora cuts in US sizes 0 to 12 and Coveti lists the UK equivalent: a US 0 is a UK 4, a US 4 is a UK 8 and a US 6 is a UK 10. The house size chart gives body measurements (bust, waist and hip in centimetres) rather than garment measurements, and the brand gives no fit corrections, so take your usual size and check the chart on each product page.
