JW PEI shoes: the complete guide to heels, mules, sandals, flats and boots

JW PEI made its name with vegan bags, and the shoes now run almost as deep. Coveti carries 259 JW PEI styles and colourways: 82 mules, 60 sandals, 71 heels and pumps, 19 flats, 15 ballerina sneakers, 10 boots and a pair of loafers, priced from $250 to $490. Below: what each style is, how the US sizing converts, what the shoes are made of and the pairs to buy first.

Key facts

  • 259 JW PEI shoe styles and colourways at Coveti, $250 to $490; mules and sandals make up more than half the line.
  • Uppers are vegan leather, satin, mesh, faux suede, denim and woven vegan leather; most pairs are lined in vegan leather and set on a rubber sole.
  • Heels run from flat (1 to 1.5 cm on the ballet flats and ballerina sneakers) to 11.5 cm on the tallest pump.
  • JW PEI sizes in US numbers; Coveti lists the EU equivalent from the brand’s own chart (US 6 = EU 36, US 7.5 = EU 38, US 9 = EU 40, US 11 = EU 42).
  • The brand advises sizing up on the Helena pierced mules and half a size up on the Piper platform sandal; every other style is true to size by its account.
  • Three Fluffy flat sandals list feather in the upper; every other pair in the current line is animal-free.

What JW PEI shoes are like

The shoes follow the bag rule: one strong idea and no logo. A gold sphere for a heel, a pierced vamp, a satin bow, a crystal strap, an embroidered orchid on a mesh mule. The shapes are current rather than classic, pointed toes and square toes, kitten heels and sculptural heels, ballet flats that lace like a sneaker, so the line reads as fashion first. That is also the trade-off: these are the shoes for a season of wearing a trend, at a price that makes it easy, rather than a lifetime pair resoled every few years.

Construction is simple and consistent. The brand lists the upper, the lining, the sole and the heel height on every style, and on almost all of them the lining is vegan leather and the sole is rubber, which grips well on city pavements. The satin and mesh uppers are the dressiest and the most delicate; the vegan leather and woven pairs are the ones that cope with weather. Our guide to JW PEI vegan leather explains how the material wears.

The line, style by style

Mules

The biggest group, 82 pairs, from the low Helena pierced mule on a 2.5 cm heel to the Sofia and Noemi heeled mules at 8 to 9.5 cm. They are the easiest JW PEI shoes to wear because there is no strap to fit. Our JW PEI mules guide covers every family.

Sandals

60 pairs: strappy heeled sandals for evening, flat sandals and slides for summer, and a few platform styles. See the JW PEI sandals edit.

Heels and pumps

71 pairs of slingbacks, pointed pumps, kitten heels and lace-up heels; the Queena floral slingback and the Rosalie orchid heel are the statement pieces. See JW PEI heels.

Ballet flats and ballerina sneakers

The most searched JW PEI shoes this year. The Caitlin and Flavia ballerina sneakers cross a ballet flat with a lace-up trainer; the Erika, Kayla and Solenne flats are the dressier, quieter version. See the ballerina sneakers guide.

Boots

10 styles for autumn, from the Sophia mesh ankle boot to the Olivia knee-high on a 10.5 cm heel and a slouchy faux fur boot. See JW PEI boots.

Sizing in one paragraph

JW PEI cuts in US sizes 5 to 11. Coveti uses the brand’s own conversion chart and lists whole EU sizes, so US 6 is EU 36, US 7.5 is EU 38, US 8.5 is EU 39, US 9 is EU 40, US 10 is EU 41 and US 11 is EU 42. EU 37 is the brand’s US 6.5 where the style is made in it, and its US 7 where it is not. Most pairs fit true to size by the brand’s account; the exceptions are the Helena pierced mules, where JW PEI advises sizing up, and the Piper platform sandal, where it recommends half a size up. The full table, with foot lengths, is in our JW PEI shoe size guide.

Are JW PEI shoes good quality?

For the price, yes, with clear limits. The rubber soles and vegan-leather linings are the right choices for a shoe at this level, the heel heights are honest, and the brand photographs each pair on a plain plate so what you see is what arrives. Synthetic uppers do not stretch and mould the way calf leather does, so a pair that pinches on day one will pinch on day ten; buy the size that fits now. Satin marks with water and mesh can snag, so keep those pairs for evenings. The wider verdict on the label is in our JW PEI review.

How to wear them

Let the shoe be the one detail. A gold-sphere mule with straight jeans and a white shirt; a satin slingback with a slip dress; a ballerina sneaker with wide trousers and a cardigan; the knee-high Olivia with a mini skirt and a long coat. JW PEI shoes sit best beside JW PEI bags because the two share a vocabulary, so a Thea top-handle and a pointed mule in the same tone look deliberate. Our JW PEI styling guide has full outfits.

How JW PEI compares

The closest references at Coveti are By Far, which works in leather with a nineties eye, Amina Muaddi, whose flared heels and crystal straps sit at several times the price, and The Attico, the night-time version of the same idea. JW PEI is the most accessible of the group and the only one built on vegan materials. If you want one statement pair a season rather than one pair for a decade, it is the sensible place to shop.

Frequently asked questions

Does JW PEI make shoes?

Yes. Alongside its bags and clothing, JW PEI makes mules, sandals, heels, ballet flats, ballerina sneakers, boots and loafers. Coveti carries 259 JW PEI shoe styles and colourways from $250 to $490.

Are JW PEI shoes true to size?

Mostly. JW PEI sizes in US numbers and gives no sizing advice for most styles; it advises sizing up on the Helena pierced mules and half a size up on the Piper platform sandal. Coveti converts to EU with the brand’s own chart.

What are JW PEI shoes made of?

Vegan leather, satin, mesh, faux suede, denim and woven vegan leather uppers, usually lined in vegan leather on a rubber sole. Three Fluffy flat sandals list feather in the upper.

Are JW PEI shoes comfortable?

The flats, ballerina sneakers and low mules are made for all-day wear; the pumps and sandals between 8 and 11.5 cm are evening shoes. Every listing at Coveti gives the heel height.

Where can I buy JW PEI shoes?

At JW PEI’s own site and selected stockists, and at Coveti, which authenticates every pair and ships worldwide. Shop JW PEI at Coveti.

How much are JW PEI shoes?

At Coveti, $250 to $490; flats and ballerina sneakers sit at the lower end and the knee-high boots at the top.
