What size system does KNWLS use?

So a customer who wears a US 4 takes a UK 8 in KNWLS tailoring and an S in jersey.

Do KNWLS corsets run small?

They run close, because that is how a corset works. A boned corset should close without strain and let you breathe and sit comfortably. Take your usual UK size for the intended shape. If you are between sizes, take the next size up, especially with a fuller bust. The Veil Leather Corset laces at the back and the Victoria Corset has adjustable straps and lacing, so both give a little room to adjust.

How do KNWLS jersey and mesh pieces fit?

Like a second skin. The Halcyon Top, Skinn Dress and CU Top are stretch fabrics cut to sit flat against the body. Take your usual letter size. Sizing up does not make them looser in a flattering way: it makes the seams sit in the wrong place. The Ace dress and Haze hoodie are more relaxed.

How do KNWLS jeans and trousers fit?

Low on the hip. The Alice Bootcut Jeans and Astra Breeches are low-rise, so they sit below your natural waist. Measure your hip at the widest point and check it against the size you normally take. The denim has very little stretch, so size up if you are between sizes.

How do KNWLS jackets fit?

Short and slim. The Claw, Victoria and Charlotte jackets sit at the waist and are cut to go over a corset, a slip top and a fine knit. If you want to layer a hoodie underneath, take the next size up. What do the model fit notes mean?

Every KNWLS product page at Coveti includes a model line, for example a model of 5 foot 10 wearing a UK 6. Use it as a reference for length rather than width. If you are shorter than the model, cropped jackets will sit a little lower on you and midi skirts will fall closer to the ankle. If you are taller, the low-rise trousers will sit slightly higher on the hip than in the photographs.

Does KNWLS fit differently from other London labels?

Yes, in two ways. KNWLS rises are lower than most, so trousers and skirts sit on the hip rather than the waist, and the tops are shorter to match. And the jersey is cut to sit flat against the body, without the ease built into most contemporary jersey. Customers who wear a UK 8 at labels with a relaxed cut usually take the same UK 8 at KNWLS and simply expect a closer fit. If you prefer a looser feel in corsets and denim, take the next size up.

How do you measure for KNWLS?

Measure bust at the fullest point, waist at the narrowest point and hips at the widest part. For low-rise trousers and skirts, the hip is the measurement that matters.
