La DoubleJ Jackets and Coats: Bombers, Coats and Capes

0
The short answer. La DoubleJ, the Milan house founded by J.J. Martin in 2015, makes its jackets and coats in Italy, mostly in jacquards and wool blends that carry its prints into outerwear. The key shapes are the oversized Brooklyn Bomber in Derby Black, the mid-length Precious Coat in Herald Fuchsia in Lake Como jacquard, and the double-breasted Victoria Coat in Grey. Capes, a wool robe coat and a knit scarf cape complete the outerwear.

A La DoubleJ coat is rarely the quiet layer you throw over an outfit. More often it is the outfit. The house that J.J. Martin built in Milan around print on print applies the same thinking to outerwear: jacquards woven with silk and metal threads, contrast linings in another print, buttons with a scarab on them. Every piece below is made in Italy.

I have split the edit into bombers, coats and capes, with a word on fit at the end.

La DoubleJ bombers

Brooklyn Bomber

The Brooklyn is the house take on the classic bomber, but cut slouchy and still structured, with a slight high-low hem and ribbed knit collar and cuffs. The Derby Black version is a jacquard with cotton and silk in the mix, side pockets and a single zip finished with a scarab detail, a motif the brand ties to resurrection. It comes in solid black virgin wool as well, and the Brooklyn Bomber in Buttercup White is also on Coveti.

Bon Bon Bomber

The Bon Bon Bomber in Atlantis Yellow is the dressier sister. It is cropped and slim through the body, with ruched sleeves that finish in ribbed cuffs, in an Italian jacquard with a little silk. Because it stops high, it sits well over a full skirt and a swing dress. The brand also suggests it with La DoubleJ denim.

St. Moritz Jacket

For colder days there is the padded St. Moritz Reversible Jacket in Herald Cream. It has a stand-up collar, long ribbed wool cuffs and a zip, with Herald jacquard on one side and a printed lining on the other. You can wear it with the jacquard out on the slopes and the print out in town.

The coats: Precious, Victoria and Brooklyn

Precious Coat

This is the evening coat. The Precious is a mid-length jacquard with a slight shoulder, four buttons down the front and a martingale button at the cuff, and the jacquard comes from Lake Como. The Herald Fuchsia shade adds wool, silk and acrylic to a polyester base. Wear it over a long dress, and on the weekend over a white tee and jeans for the contrast. It also comes in Lark Black and Honeysuckle Tricolor Yellow, and the Precious Coat in Botanical Black is on Coveti too.

Victoria Coat

The Victoria is the most classic winter coat here: an oversized, double-breasted coat in a structured melange wool blend, fully lined, with a wide neckline, puffy sleeves gathered into cuffs and logoed pearl-effect buttons. At 125 cm it is long. The grey version also has removable hand-embroidered patches with feathers and pearl-effect beads, so you can wear it plain on Monday and dressed up on Friday. A Buttercup Black version in virgin wool sits alongside it.

Brooklyn Coat

The Brooklyn Coat in Cheetah Coating Light Beige is a knee-length, oversized topper in a wool, alpaca and silk blend, with a striped contrast collar and cuffs that give it a varsity feel. La DoubleJ treats animal print as a neutral, and this one goes with almost anything. Layer it over a chunky sweater, and see our La DoubleJ knitwear guide for the knits.

Duster Coat and Baker Street Jacket

The Duster Coat in Peony Black is full length at 120 cm, double-breasted with patch pockets and wide lapels, in an Italian viscose sable satin with a little stretch. It is slim in the shoulders and arms. The Baker Street Jacket in Navy goes the other way: a double woven wool with its own built-in capelet, a zip, pockets and a contrast colour inside, 135 cm long.

Capes and the robe coat

Milano Cape Coat and Milano Mini Cape

The Milano Cape Coat in Pink falls to mid calf at 112 cm, in a shaggy wool, alpaca and mohair blend. Gold toggle clasps close the front, slits at the sides let your hands through to carry a bag, and a built-in gilet keeps it in place. The lining is printed. The shorter Milano Mini Cape in Honolulu Red is a jacquard that ends below the seat, with open cape sleeves that button at the cuff, front pockets and the same built-in gilet. Both are good over slim trousers and a fine knit, where the volume has room.

Coveti also stocks the Maria Cape, including the Maria Cape in Kells Pink.

In My Power Knit Scarf Cape

New for Autumn Winter 2026, the In My Power Knit Scarf Cape in Alchemy Light Blue, Burgundy, and Camel is a one size wrap in 100% wool, knitted at gauge 5 for structure, with placed jacquard motifs on a camel base. Throw it over a knit one day and a blazer the next.

Maiolika Robe

The Maiolika Robe in Multicolor Burgundy is a one size wool robe coat, 135 cm long, with a pattern inspired by the maiolica tiles of Italian coastal towns. It is the most relaxed piece here. Wear it over a tee and jeans to travel, and over a silk dress for an outdoor dinner when the evening cools.

How the jackets and coats fit

La DoubleJ ready-to-wear is cut true to size. Most of the jackets and coats here come in letter sizes from XXS to XXL, the Victoria Coat is listed in UK sizes 4 to 18, and the capes, scarf cape and robe are one size. Where the house uses Italian numeric sizing for tailoring, subtract 32 to get your UK size, so IT 40 is a UK 8. The one style with its own note is the Duster Coat: the brand says to size up only if you want a looser, more casual fit. For everything else, order your usual size. The oversized cuts, Brooklyn and Victoria included, are generous by design.
