La DoubleJ Autumn Winter 2026: The Pieces Worth Buying

0
The short answer. The La DoubleJ Autumn Winter 2026 pieces worth buying first are the knits and the jacquard outerwear. Start with the High Kick Top in Cocoa, a ribbed silk-cashmere knit, and the Fireside Turtleneck, then put the Victoria Jacket in Botanical Black over a placed-print silk shirt. The main prints are Kells, Buttercup, Coven, Alchemy, Botanical, Devon and Quill, and like every La DoubleJ print they are made to be mixed.

La DoubleJ was founded in Milan in 2015 by J.J. Martin, an American journalist who has lived in Italy since 2001. Its first collection drew on the archive of Mantero, one of the oldest silk houses in Como, and the look has always been print on print. Autumn Winter 2026 adds weight. Ribbed silk-cashmere, mohair checks and heavy jacquards now sit next to the silk twill, and the clothing is made in Italy.

The La DoubleJ knits to buy first

The knitwear is where I would spend first. It gives the prints something solid to sit against.

High Kick Top and High Kick Sweater

The High Kick Top is 70% cashmere, 27% silk and 3% ostrich feathers, knitted in a rib with a high neck and a wide hem. It is cut close to the body, so it sits neatly under a jacket. Cocoa is the quiet choice, and there is a colour-block version in Ecru, Tobacco and Light Blue. The High Kick Sweater in Black is the looser relation, with feathers along the hem.

Fireside Turtleneck

The Fireside Turtleneck in Camel and Light Yellow is English rib in gauge 7, a wool mix with real structure. The Ecru, Green and Black version is gauge 3, a chunkier chain yarn with cotton and alpaca. Wear the finer one under tailoring and the chunky one on its own.

The Picket sweaters

The Picket family is the plain-knit backbone of the season. The Picket High Sweater in Tobacco is 94% wool in English rib and also comes in Green, while the Picket Crew Neck in Burgundy adds cashmere and a picot edge at the collar. Solid knits give the eye a rest between two prints.

Cameo Vest and Silky Turtleneck

The Cameo Vest in Ecru, also in Light Green, shares the gauge 3 yarn of the chunky Fireside and turns any silk shirt into a winter top. For print inside a knit, the Silky Turtleneck in Kells Swirl Placee Burgundy is 55% silk and 45% cashmere, slim through the chest.

La DoubleJ jackets, coats and capes

The outerwear splits in two: jacquard tailoring for the city, and capes you throw over everything else.

Victoria Jacket and Precious Coat

The Victoria Jacket in Botanical Black is double-breasted with an oversized neckline, in a fully lined cotton-mix jacquard. A Kells Check Green version comes in 100% virgin wool. The Precious Coat in Botanical Black takes the same jacquard into a mid-length coat with slightly structured shoulders. I would choose Botanical Black for outerwear, because a black ground sits quietly over a brighter dress.

Luckycharm Jacket and 24/7 Jacket Bis

The Luckycharm Jacket in Animalier Raspberry is a tuxedo-style jacket in jacquard matelasse, and a black techno duchesse version has logoed pearl-effect buttons. The brand notes that the Luckycharm runs small, so consider sizing up. The 24/7 Jacket Bis is the fitted alternative, with structured shoulders.

Capes and ponchos

The Soul Poncho in Kells Placee Camel is a 140 x 150 cm blanket wrap in 95% wool and 5% silk. The Weaver Long Cape is soft Shetland wool, warm yet light, and the Make An Entrance Cape Bicolor mixes glossy and matte yarns in burgundy and black. Throw one over a knit on the days a coat feels like too much.

Silk shirts and dresses for the cold months

Silk shirts carry print into winter because they live under knits. The Boy Shirt in Kells Placee Blue Petrol is silk twill with a loose fit, and it also comes in Kells Swirl Placee Burgundy. The Foulard Shirt in Alchemy Placee Dark Red is oversized with a mandarin collar. The Pouf Shirt in Coven Buttercream goes the other way, with a super-fitted body and puffy sleeves.

There are more than twenty dresses, and the swing shape is still the house signature. The Swing Dress in Botanical Black is the winter version: cotton-mix jacquard, 135 cm long, with hidden side-slit pockets. For the office, the Day To Dinner Dress and the 9 To 5 Dress are cut in fluid wool stretch at 120 cm. The whole family is in our La DoubleJ Swing Dress guide.

The prints of Autumn Winter 2026

Seven prints do most of the work. Placee in a shade name means a placed print, positioned on each garment so the motif lands where it should.

Print Shades this season Cut into
Kells Tobacco, Camel, Blue Petrol, Pink, Light Green, Indigo, plus Swirl and Check Silk shirts, Club Pants, Soul Poncho, denim, mohair checks
Buttercup Black, Gold, White Swing Dress, Magnifico Dress, Silky Crew Neck, scarves
Coven Buttercream, Pink, Burgundy Day To Dinner Dress, Pouf Shirt, Harem Pants
Alchemy Dark Red, plus a multicolour knit Foulard Shirt, Palazzo Pants, Make An Entrance Dress
Botanical Black Cotton-mix jacquard jackets, coat, Swing Dress
Devon Brown Silk-mix jacquard with lurex: jackets, skirts, Party Pochette
Quill Green Velvet stretch and jersey: Mini Bandage Dress, Loose Pants

How to layer print in cold weather

  • Keep the silk close to the body. A Boy Shirt under the Cameo Vest keeps the print at the collar.
  • Match one print top to bottom. The Foulard Shirt and the Palazzo Pants both come in Alchemy Placee Dark Red, so the print reads as a suit.
  • Put the bigger print on the outer layer. A placed-print poncho over a plain dress looks calmer than a print coat over a print dress.
  • Finish at the neck. A Skinny Scarf, 8 x 150 cm, tucks inside a jacket collar. Our silk scarf guide covers the larger squares.

Which size to buy

La DoubleJ ready-to-wear is cut true to size. Relaxed styles use letter sizes from XXS to XXL. Tailoring such as the Victoria Jacket uses Italian numeric sizing, so subtract 32 for your UK size: IT 40 is a UK 8. Denim is sold by waist size in inches. The exceptions are the Luckycharm Jacket, which runs small, and the Loose Pants in Ecru, which run large. The detail is in our La DoubleJ size guide, and delivery and returns terms are on the Coveti returns page.
