La DoubleJ Loungewear: The Magica Catsuit, Leggings and Le Divine Edit
La DoubleJ Loungewear: The Magica Catsuit, Leggings and Le Divine Edit
Loungewear is where most labels get lazy. A logo on a sweatshirt, a grey jogger, done. La DoubleJ went the other way. The pieces in this edit are cut in Italian jersey and fleece, printed in the same house patterns you see on the silk dresses, and finished with details that matter when you actually move in them: a doubled waistband, a racer back, a cinched ankle cuff. The Magica pieces in particular go from a morning class to lunch without looking like gym kit.
What is the Le Divine capsule
Le Divine is a capsule La DoubleJ made with Viviana Volpicella, the Italian stylist. It takes the house love of print and puts it on shape-hugging activewear. Every piece in it is made in Italy, and the core fabric is a technical jersey of 79% polyester and 21% elastane. The blend has real stretch and real hold.
Rio comes in yellow and chocolate, Aperol in black and white, and Ali Micro in chocolate and yellow. For the story behind the print names, my La DoubleJ prints explained glossary goes through them one by one.
Magica Catsuit
The Magica Catsuit in Palazzo Yellow is a one-piece in Italian jersey with spaghetti straps and an open back, and the brand describes the jersey as a second skin. La DoubleJ says it took its cue from the energy of 1980s aerobics wear, and you can see it in the long, sleek line.
The Magica Catsuit in Rio Chocolate is the quieter of the two shades and the one I would pick for wearing beyond the studio. Add a long cardigan for a Sunday in town. Both are made in Italy and run from XXS to XXL.
Magica Bra
The Magica Bra is a technical jersey crop with a round neckline, a racer back and an elastic band at the base for support. The brand suggests wearing it alone with high-waisted leggings and jeans, and it has the structure to pull that off.
The Magica Bra in Rio Yellow is the bright one. The Magica Bra in Aperol Black & White is the graphic one. Each has matching leggings.
Magica Leggings
The Magica Leggings have a very high waist, and La DoubleJ doubled the fabric across the belly for extra compression. The fabric is the same technical jersey as the bra.
The Magica Leggings in Aperol Black & White pair with the Aperol bra for a full set. The Magica Leggings in Ali Micro Chocolate are the ones I would reach for most, since brown goes with almost everything.
The La DoubleJ leggings you wear under a dress
A second legging does a different job. The Leggings in Zooflora Burgundy are cut from the brand’s skinny jersey, 83% polyamide and 17% elastane, which is lighter and silkier than the Magica fabric. They sit at a mid-rise, stop at the ankle and measure 92cm in length.
La DoubleJ suggests them for workouts and for wearing under a printed dress, and the second idea is the better one. A Zooflora legging under a Swing Dress in another print is pure La DoubleJ. The Swing Dress guide is a good start.
Court Pants and the Meditation Tee
Court Pants
The Court Pants in Ali Chocolate are part of Le Divine too. La DoubleJ took the shape of a 1990s tracksuit pant and remade it in 100% polyamide nylon with a balloon leg. There is a high elastic waist, a contrast panel, piping down to the ankle and a cinched cuff. The brand also put a sun motif on the seat, which tells you how seriously it takes itself here. Wear them with a white tee for travel days.
Meditation Tee
The Meditation Tee in Nucleus Off White is a rectangle of stretch fleece, 94% cotton and 6% elastane, cut so the sleeves drape and the hem falls just below the seat. It has a round neckline and a loose fit. It works for yoga and tucked into jeans. The Nucleus print, according to La DoubleJ, is a kaleidoscope of cells inspired by the matter that makes up living things. It also comes in Rio Chocolate.
Knits and turtlenecks for layering
Picket Crew Neck
The Picket Crew Neck in Ecru is a blend of 83% wool, 12% cashmere and 5% cotton, made in Italy. It is slim through the chest and shoulders and wider at the base, which gives an hourglass line, and there is embroidered picket detail along the trim.
Turtleneck
The Turtleneck in Ali Chocolate is in the same skinny jersey as the Zooflora leggings, body-hugging with a little stretch, and the brand notes it is a touch lighter than its crepe jersey. It is designed to go under sleeveless dresses and into jeans.
Lacey Turtleneck
The Lacey Turtleneck in Off White is wool lace, 90% wool and 10% polyamide, with a close cut. La DoubleJ sees it as a between-seasons piece: alone in early autumn, under a jacket later on.

What is La DoubleJ known for?
La DoubleJ is a Milan label founded in 2015 by American journalist J.J. Martin, known for bold, joyful prints designed to be mixed. Its first collection drew on the print archive of Mantero, a historic silk house in Como, and it works with Italian artisans and mills. Its loungewear brings those prints to jersey and fleece.
Can you wear the Magica Bra as a top?
Yes, and La DoubleJ suggests exactly that, pairing it with high-waisted leggings and jeans. It has a round neckline, a racer back and an elastic band at the base, so it holds its shape on its own.
