What makes a La DoubleJ T-shirt different

Nearly every tee in the range is made in Italy, and the core slogan styles are 100% cotton jersey. The house also treats a T-shirt as a supporting player for its prints. A white crew here is rarely plain: there is a rainbow motto across the back, an embroidered word across the chest, a creature on a pocket. Raise Your Vibration T-Shirt

The Raise Your Vibration T-Shirt is the one most people search for, and it is the purest expression of the brand motto. The phrase runs across the back in rainbow colours, and a small Yin Yang JJ emblem sits on the front over the heart. It has a round neck and a classic fit, it is labelled unisex, and it is 100% cotton made in Italy. The brand calls the jersey breathable and wrinkle resistant, so it works under a suit jacket on Monday and over a swimsuit on Saturday.

House T-Shirt in Joy

If you want the slogan on the front, the House T-Shirt in Joy Off White prints the word Joy in rainbow text across a white base. The shape is oversized and boxy with a slight stretch, it is 100% cotton, made in Italy, and the care label says machine wash. I like it with dark denim.

High Tee Shirt in Divine

The quieter option is the High Tee Shirt in Divine White, a regular-fit cotton jersey crew with the word Divine embroidered across the front. Embroidery gives it a more polished finish under a blazer. The same style is on Coveti in High Tee Shirt in Solid Lilac as well.

The La Scala Tee, the dressy one

The La Scala Tee is a cropped, boxy T-shirt finished with a feather trim at the hem, and it is the piece that proves a tee can go to dinner. The La Scala Tee in Lemuria Black is a structured cotton jersey with 2% ostrich feathers and a 58cm garment length. The Lemuria Placee Pink version is shorter at 50cm, so check the length if you prefer more coverage.

For colder months, the same shape comes in heavier fabrics. The La Scala Tee in Cherubs Black is cut from a shimmering fil coupe, and the La Scala Tee in Lark Black is a jacquard with wool and silk in the mix. Both keep the contrast ostrich feather trim. The brand pairs them with matching trousers, the Saturday Night Pants, for a full print look, and with the A-Long Skirt for something softer. Fitted and relaxed: Jazzercize and Meditation

At opposite ends of the fit spectrum sit two styles. The Jazzercize T-Shirt in Zooflora Burgundy is a body-hugging classic T-shirt cut in a skinny jersey of 83% polyamide and 17% elastane, 60cm long. It sits close, so it layers neatly under jackets.

The Meditation Tee in Nucleus Off White goes the other way. It is built from a rectangle of stretch fleece (94% cotton, 6% elastane), which creates draped sleeves and a loose fit, and the hem falls low enough to cover the seat. It works for yoga and looks neat half tucked into jeans.

Discman Hoodie

The Discman Hoodie in Off White is 100% cotton, made in Italy, with Raise Your Vibration across the front and an adjustable drawstring in rainbow stripes. The fit is slightly oversized with elastic at the cuffs and hem, and the garment length is 70cm.

Off Court Sweatshirt

The Off Court Sweatshirt in Divine Grey is a garment-dyed cotton crew with ribbed cuffs, collar and hem. It has a slouchy, nineties shape that stops at the hip, with a message across the back, and it is made in Italy.

The Biggie Concert Sweatshirt

From the LDJ x MOTHER collaboration, called Ciao Mamma!, The Biggie Concert Sweatshirt in Bug Off Blue is a slightly cropped, oversized raglan crew in 100% cotton. A yellow dragonfly is embroidered on the deep blue; the dragonfly was one of La DoubleJ’s first spirit animals and stands for transformation, courage and joy in the house’s language.

Which size should you buy

La DoubleJ cuts its ready-to-wear true to size, and the tees and sweatshirts use letter sizing from XXS to XXL. None of these styles carries a brand note to size up, so order your usual size. The models in the product shots stand between 176cm and 180cm and wear a size S. For a slouchier tee, choose the House T-Shirt and the Discman Hoodie, which are already cut roomy. How to wear them with prints

A white Raise Your Vibration crew calms a printed skirt the way a white shirt would, and its rainbow lettering picks up the colours of almost any La DoubleJ print. Try it tucked into a midi skirt from our La DoubleJ skirts guide, with flat sandals. The La Scala Tee does the opposite job: wear it with the matching trousers and let the print run head to toe, then keep jewellery minimal because the feathers are already doing a lot.
