Lisa Yang Size Guide: What Sizes 0, 1 and 2 Mean
Lisa Yang sizing uses numbers in place of letters: women’s knits come in 00, 0, 1 and 2, men’s in 3, 4 and 5, and each number spans a range of letter sizes. This guide converts every number for the Lisa Yang cashmere range at Coveti, from cashmere sweaters to a first knit like the Sandy Sweater in Black.
The short answer: for women, 0 is XS, 1 covers S to M and 2 covers M to L. For men, 3 covers S to M, 4 covers M to L and 5 covers L to XL. The woven doublé tailoring is different again and follows French sizes 32 to 42.
Why Lisa Yang uses numbers
Cashmere knit has give, and a sweater can be designed to hang loose on one body and sit close on another. Lisa Yang reflects that with broad numbered sizes, each covering two neighbouring letters.
The house publishes the conversion in its FAQ, and the table below reproduces it alongside the label you will actually choose at Coveti. What the house does not publish is a chart of body measurements, so this guide does not invent one. Everything here comes from the brand’s size chart, the fit line on each product page and the model information the house gives.
The founders put weight on fit. Lisa Yang told Monocle in December 2025: “We use the best fibres and try to push the craft, working with the fit, the silhouette, the details and innovation”.
Women’s sizes: 00, 0, 1 and 2
The house chart reads like this. Size 00 is XXS. Size 0 is XS. Size 1 is S to M. Size 2 is M to L.
At Coveti, women’s knits are sold in letters, XS to L, so you can shop the way you normally would. XS is house size 0. S is house size 1. L is house size 2. M is the size to check, because it sits in the overlap: an M at Coveti can be a house 1 in one style and a house 2 in another, and the size note on the product page names the house size behind it. Where a style is made in 00, it is listed as XXS.
So if you normally wear M, read that note before you add to bag. It tells you which house size you are getting. The upper end of size 1 fits closer; the lower end of size 2 gives more room. Some styles offer both.
How to choose between S and M
House size 1 covers both, so this choice needs a closer look. The house gives no instruction to size up, and none to size down, so start from the size you usually wear and read the product page before you choose.
First, look at the fit line. Most Lisa Yang product pages state the cut in plain words: “Designed for a relaxed fit” on some, “Designed for a regular fit” on others. Of the 277 women’s pieces at Coveti, 123 are relaxed and 115 are regular. The remaining women’s pieces carry no fit line.
In a relaxed piece, the extra room is the design: the knit is meant to sit away from the body in your usual size, so a roomy look in the photographs is intended rather than a sign that the size runs large. In a regular piece, the knit follows the body more closely. Coveti’s size note on each product page names the house size behind each letter, which is the detail to check when you sit between S and M.
Second, think about the gauge. A 3 to 5 gauge knit is a thick fabric, and it takes up more room inside a coat than a 12 gauge one. The Heidi Sweater in Black is a 7 gauge plain knit, a middle weight. The Abby Cardigan in Black is 12 gauge and lies flatter, so it layers under a blazer with less bulk. Our comparison of Lisa Yang sweaters lists the gauge and fabric of each named knit.
What the model photographs tell you
The house shoots women’s pieces on models who are 176 to 183 cm tall, and they wear size 1. Men’s models are 188 to 190 cm and wear size 4.
That is useful context for length. A size 1 photographed on a 180 cm model shows how the body and sleeve fall on a tall frame; on a shorter frame the same piece will sit a little longer in proportion. The house publishes no garment measurements, so the model line is the best visual reference it gives.
Relaxed and regular, line by line
The two lines are cut with different emphases. Women’s pieces are close to an even split, 123 relaxed against 115 regular. Menswear leans firmly towards regular, with 71 regular pieces and 22 relaxed. The table below shows both counts.
Relaxed women’s knits are often worn alone, over a slim trouser such as the Sofi Trousers in Truffle, a 12 gauge plain knit pant. Regular knits suit layering under tailoring. Neither is better.
Men’s sizes: 3, 4 and 5
Men’s numbers pick up where the women’s leave off. Size 3 is S to M, size 4 is M to L and size 5 is L to XL. Coveti sells men’s pieces in letters from S to XL.
There is one wrinkle. Some newer men’s pieces label house size 3 as XS, which shifts the letters down by one step: 3 becomes XS, 4 becomes S to M and 5 becomes M to L. The table below shows both labelling systems side by side. When the letter looks smaller than expected, the house number on the product page is what to trust.
The Mason Sweater in Navy, a 12 gauge plain knit, is a good test piece for a first men’s order. The Parker Trousers in Navy are knitted in Double Face Cashmere and follow the same 3, 4, 5 system. For the full men’s line, read our Lisa Yang menswear guide.
Woven doublé tailoring: French sizes 32 to 42
The coats, blazers, skirts and trousers in woven doublé are tailored rather than knitted, so they use conventional sizing. The house cuts them in French sizes 32 to 42, and Coveti sells them as 4 UK to 14 UK.
The steps are regular. French 32 is UK 4, 34 is UK 6, 36 is UK 8, 38 is UK 10, 40 is UK 12 and 42 is UK 14. The brand also gives a letter for each, from XXS at 32 to XL at 42.
Doublé is two layers of woven fabric joined into one, in 95% wool and 5% cashmere, so it has none of the stretch of a knit. Size it as you would any tailored jacket. If you plan to wear the Doublé Shawl Coat in Black over a heavy 5 gauge sweater, check the shoulder against your usual coat size; it is $1,930 at Coveti. The Doublé Blazer in Mid Grey and the Doublé Barrel Trousers in Dark Cedar follow the same French scale.
Lisa Yang sizing around the world
Coveti is London-based, ships worldwide and lists every price in US dollars. The sizes on the Lisa Yang brand page are the same wherever you order from.
US shoppers can use letters directly: XS to L for women’s knits, S to XL for men. For doublé tailoring, the usual conversion is to subtract four from the UK size, so UK 8 is roughly a US 4 and UK 12 a US 8. That is the general high-street convention, not a figure from the house.
UK buyers will find the tailoring already labelled in UK sizes, 4 to 14. Knits follow the letter system.
In the EU, the French numbers on the doublé pieces are the familiar continental sizes, so a French 38 reads as an EU 38.
In the GCC, many buyers wear knitwear indoors in air conditioning and over lighter layers. A relaxed fit in a 12 to 18 gauge knit suits that setting better than a heavy knit, and Gulf winters are mild enough that a thin layer underneath is usually all you need.
Choosing between two sizes
Take your usual size, since the house gives no sizing correction. Read the fit line to know whether the piece is meant to sit loose. Use the size note to see which house size sits behind the letter you pick. In doublé, follow your usual tailored size.
Once your piece arrives, keep the shape by drying it flat and never on a hanger, as the house advises; our guide on how to wash cashmere covers the rest. If a size does not work, the Coveti returns page sets out the process. For background on the label itself, read who Lisa Yang is.

How we measured: the house size to letter conversion is the size chart in the Lisa Yang FAQ. The Coveti column is the size label each piece is sold under on Coveti, read from all 370 live product records on 31 October 2026; where one Coveti size covers two house sizes, the size note on the product page names both. The fit counts tally the “Designed for a relaxed fit” and “Designed for a regular fit” lines on each live piece. Women’s models on the brand pages are 176 to 183 cm and wear size 1; men’s models are 188 to 190 cm and wear size 4.
Frequently asked questions
What does size 1 mean in Lisa Yang?
Size 1 in Lisa Yang covers S to M. At Coveti it is sold as S, and in some styles also as M, with the product page size note naming the house size. The house shoots its women’s pieces on models 176 to 183 cm tall wearing size 1, so the photographs show that size.
Does Lisa Yang run large?
The house does not say that Lisa Yang runs large, but many pieces are cut relaxed on purpose. Of the 277 women’s pieces at Coveti, 123 carry a relaxed fit line and 115 a regular one. A relaxed piece is meant to sit loose in your usual size, so check the fit line before you choose.
What is Lisa Yang size 2 in US sizing?
Size 2 is M to L on the house chart, and Coveti sells it as M and L in US letter sizes. Size 0 is XS and size 1 covers S to M. The house does not publish body measurements, so the letter is the most reliable guide for US shoppers buying knitwear.
How do men’s Lisa Yang sizes work?
Men’s pieces use sizes 3, 4 and 5: 3 is S to M, 4 is M to L and 5 is L to XL. Coveti sells them from S to XL. Some newer men’s pieces label size 3 as XS, which moves each letter down one step, so check the house number on the product page.
What size is a doublé coat?
Woven doublé coats, blazers, skirts and trousers use French sizes 32 to 42, sold at Coveti as UK 4 to UK 14. French 36 is UK 8 and French 38 is UK 10. Doublé is a woven cloth in 95% wool and 5% cashmere, with no knit stretch, so take your usual tailored size.
Should I size up to layer a Lisa Yang sweater under a coat?
Not usually. The house gives no instruction to size up, so pick the knit in your usual size and size the coat to suit it. A heavy 3 to 7 gauge sweater needs room in the coat shoulder, while a 12 gauge knit layers under tailoring with little bulk.
