Lisa Yang Menswear: The Men’s Cashmere Guide

Lisa Yang menswear is the men’s line of the Stockholm cashmere house, built mostly from knitwear and sized 3, 4 and 5. Coveti carries 93 men’s pieces within its Lisa Yang cashmere edit, the bulk of them in men’s cashmere knitwear, and the obvious first piece is the Mason Sweater in Cream.

The men’s line uses the same Inner Mongolian cashmere as the women’s collection, cut in three house sizes that Coveti sells as S to XL. There are 70 knits, 10 T-shirts, 8 pairs of trousers, 3 knitted shirts and a hoodie in two colours. Prices at Coveti run from $550 to $1,660.

What the men’s line is

LISA YANG was founded in Stockholm in 2014 by Lisa Yang and Samuel Stenberg, and the house is dedicated to cashmere. Its product pages carry a line that sums up the arrangement: designed in Stockholm, crafted in Inner Mongolia. The men’s pieces follow the same rule. For the full background on the founders, read who Lisa Yang is.

The design is Scandinavian, though not stripped back. Lisa Yang told Monocle in December 2025: “The inspiration for the designs comes from Scandinavia but I wouldn’t call the style minimalist”. The men’s colours show it. Next to navy, black and graphite there are mahogany, azure, dark fern, limone and moonstone.

Most of the menswear is 100% cashmere. The house uses hand-selected Grade A fibre, 36 millimetres long and 14 micrometres in diameter, and says longer, finer fibres resist pilling. A smaller group of men’s pieces is knitted in 70% cotton with 30% cashmere, and the Baxter is 77% cashmere with 23% silk.

Men’s sizes: 3, 4 and 5

The house runs men’s sizes as numbers. Size 3 is S to M, size 4 is M to L and size 5 is L to XL. At Coveti you choose a letter from S to XL.

Watch for one change. Some newer men’s pieces label house size 3 as XS, which moves each letter down a step, so on those styles 4 becomes S to M and 5 becomes M to L. If a letter looks a size smaller than usual, check the house number on the product page.

The models give a useful reference. The house shoots menswear on men 188 to 190 cm tall, wearing size 4. If you are shorter, expect a size 4 to sit a little longer in the body and sleeve than it does in the photographs.

The men’s line leans towards a regular fit: 71 of the 93 pieces at Coveti are designed for a regular fit and 22 for a relaxed one. A regular piece follows the body more closely. In a relaxed piece, the extra room is part of the design. Our Lisa Yang size guide covers the full chart for both lines.

The knits, from fine to heavy

Gauge is the number of stitches per inch, and every Lisa Yang knit states it. Higher numbers mean finer fabric. The house treats 12 gauge as its year-round plain knit, 18 gauge as featherweight fine knit, and 3 to 7 gauge as heavy knits for the colder months. Our explainer on cashmere gauge and ply goes deeper.

18 gauge: the fine knits

At the light end is the Johannes T-shirt in Ivory, a fine knit in 100% cashmere at $820 at Coveti. It is a plain T-shirt shape worked in pure cashmere. The Carter T-shirt, the Liam and Peter sweaters and the Kieran Cardigan share the same 18 gauge. These are the pieces to wear under a jacket, because they add almost no bulk.

12 gauge: the everyday plain knit

Most men will start here. The Mason Sweater is a 12 gauge plain knit at $710 at Coveti, and it comes in five colourways, level with the Louis Cardigan Jacket and the Parker Trousers for the widest choice in the men’s line. The Clayton, Emil and Aksel sweaters sit at the same gauge. The Ethan Shirt in Dark Oak applies the 12 gauge knit to a shirt shape, and the Emerson Hoodie in Truffle does the same for a hoodie.

7 gauge: more weight for winter

The Faron Sweater in Dark Oak is a 7 gauge plain knit and a clear step up in warmth, at $970 at Coveti. The Rufus and Kristian sweaters are the same weight, as are the Wilson, Maximilian and Fenris cardigans. The Baxter Sweater in Navy is also 7 gauge, though it mixes 23% silk into the cashmere.

3 and 5 gauge: the heavy knits

At the thick end, the Sylvan Sweater in Truffle is a 3 gauge plain knit at $1,170 at Coveti, a sweater that does the job of a light jacket on a cold day. The Cian is also 3 gauge. At 5 gauge, the Olai is a plain knit, while the Ellis Sweater in Dark Cocoa and the Espen are cable knits.

Brushed, double face and the blends

Two house techniques stand out in the men’s line. Brushed Cashmere is the result of years spent refining washing and finishing; the house controls water temperature and yarn tension to raise a lofty, cloud-like surface. The Lachlan Sweater in Cloudy Brushed, at $1,140 at Coveti, is the main brushed sweater, with the Devean Cardigan, the Omar Sweater and the Glenn Stripes Sweater alongside it. More on the finish in our guide to brushed cashmere.

Double Face Cashmere merges two knitted layers into one. It feels soft like a knit but holds its shape like a weave. The Louis Cardigan Jacket in Dark Fern is the best known, at $1,660 at Coveti, and the Leif, Fionn and Tanner follow the same idea. The Parker Trousers in Dark Fern and the Eero Trousers bring double face cashmere to tailoring, so a full outfit in one fibre is possible. Browse them under men’s trousers.

The cotton and cashmere blend pieces are 16 gauge and lighter. The Bradley T-shirt in Salt is $550 at Coveti, the entry price for the men’s line, and the Keir, Otis, Lowen and Carsten sweaters use the same yarn. They make sense in warm climates and for spring.

How to wear Lisa Yang menswear

The line works as a set of layers. An 18 gauge T-shirt under a Double Face cardigan jacket works for the office without a shirt and tie. At the weekend, a 12 gauge crew neck goes with the Parker Trousers.

The heavy 3 and 5 gauge sweaters want little around them. Wear them with plain trousers and a simple coat, and let the knit carry the outfit. A brushed sweater looks best against flat fabrics, where its soft surface reads clearly.

On colour, go a little further than navy. The house likes colour, and a dark fern Louis works with a cream Mason. If you are comparing Lisa Yang with other labels, our guide to men’s cashmere sweaters is a good next read, and everything men’s from the house sits in men’s clothing.

Caring for men’s cashmere

You do not need to wash cashmere after every wear, says the house, though keeping it clean helps deter moths. Hand wash plain and fine knits with a cashmere detergent, and a delicate no-spin wool cycle at a maximum of 30 degrees C in a laundry bag is an alternative. Stains, along with brushed and boucle cashmere, go to a professional cleaner.

Dry knits flat on a towel and never hang them. Iron inside out on the lowest heat through a damp cloth. Store folded, away from sunlight, with cedarwood balls replaced each year. Light pilling is normal and comes off with a cashmere comb. Our guide on how to wash cashmere has the full routine.

Lisa Yang menswear around the world

Coveti is London-based, ships worldwide and prices every piece on its Lisa Yang brand page in US dollars. Every piece is 100% authentic.

In the US, men’s sizes appear as letters from S to XL. A 12 gauge knit covers most of the year in milder states, and the 3 to 7 gauge sweaters suit a northern winter.

In the UK, a 7 gauge sweater under a coat handles most of autumn and winter, and an 18 gauge T-shirt works on its own in summer.

Across the EU, the heavy knits belong in Scandinavia and the Alps, while the cotton and cashmere blend suits southern summers.

In the GCC, the 16 gauge blend and the 18 gauge fine knits are the practical daytime choice, especially in air-conditioned offices. A Double Face cardigan jacket is a good outer layer for winter evenings in the desert.

Frequently asked questions

Does Lisa Yang make menswear?

Yes. Lisa Yang makes a full men’s line, and Coveti carries 93 pieces of it. There are 70 knits, 10 T-shirts, 8 pairs of trousers, 3 knitted shirts and a hoodie. Most are 100% cashmere, with some pieces in 70% cotton and 30% cashmere and one style in cashmere and silk.

What size should I buy in Lisa Yang men’s?

Lisa Yang men’s size 3 is S to M, size 4 is M to L and size 5 is L to XL. Coveti sells them as S to XL. Some newer pieces label size 3 as XS. Men’s models are 188 to 190 cm tall and wear size 4, which is useful context for length.

Which Lisa Yang men’s sweater should I buy first?

The Mason Sweater is the best first choice for most men. It is a 12 gauge plain knit in 100% cashmere, the house’s year-round weight, and it is $710 at Coveti in five colourways. For more warmth, the Faron is 7 gauge, and for a softer surface the Lachlan is brushed.

What is the Louis Cardigan Jacket made of?

The Louis Cardigan Jacket is 100% cashmere in the house’s Double Face Cashmere technique, two knitted layers merged into one. It is a 7 gauge knit that feels soft but holds a structure close to a woven jacket. It comes in five colourways and is $1,660 at Coveti.

Is men’s cashmere the same quality as the women’s line?

The fibre is the same. The house uses hand-selected Grade A cashmere, 36 millimetres long and 14 micrometres in diameter, across its collections, and says every 100% cashmere piece is organic cashmere. Men’s pieces use the same gauges and house techniques, including Brushed Cashmere and Double Face Cashmere.

How do I wash a brushed men’s sweater?

Send it to a professional cleaner. The house advises professional cleaning only for brushed and boucle cashmere. Between cleans, keep it folded and away from sunlight, with cedarwood balls nearby to deter moths. Plain and fine knits can be hand washed with a cashmere detergent instead.
