Posse Sizing: Does Posse Run Small? Fit Guide by Style

0

Posse sizing is mostly true to size. Of the 216 Posse pieces live on Coveti, 190 tell you to take your usual size, in letters from XXS to XXL. The exceptions are deliberate, like the close body Dean Dress in Black and the oversized Ellis Sweater in Cream, so read each note across our designer clothing.

This guide is built from the fit note on every Posse product page we carry, counted one by one. If you are choosing a dress first, our edit of the best Posse dresses walks through each style from mini to maxi.

Does Posse run small?

Posse does not run small; the large majority of its styles are described by the brand as fitting true to size.

Across the 216 Posse pieces currently live on Coveti, 181 carry the brand line that the style fits true to size, and a further 9 simply say to take your usual size. That is 190 pieces, close to nine in ten, where your usual letter size is the right starting point. The other 26 are not mistakes in the sizing. They are pieces Posse has designed with a particular shape in mind: 11 relaxed, 6 close body, 6 oversized, plus two one size purses and a belt sized XS to L.

The useful takeaway is this: with Posse, the fit note on the product page matters more than the label. Two pieces in the same size can be designed to sit very differently on the body.

What sizes does Posse come in?

Posse sizes run from XXS to XXL in letters, and Coveti lists exactly the same letters.

That gives seven sizes: XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL. Coveti does not convert these into numbered sizes, so the letter you see on our product page is the letter Posse uses. Availability varies by piece and by colour, so check the size selector on each page; a style can be cut in the full run while only some letters are still in stock.

What size does the Posse model wear?

On most Posse pages the model is 173cm tall and wears a size XS.

Posse’s house model, Ploy, is 173cm and wears XS, and that combination appears on 134 of the 216 product pages we carry. Most of the remaining pages show a model between 175cm and 178cm wearing a size S. The model note sits at the end of the fit line on almost every product page, and it is worth reading alongside the photographs: an XS on a 173cm frame tells you a lot about where a midi hem and a cropped trouser will land on you.

How does Posse fit by category?

Dresses, shorts, skirts and trousers are almost all true to size; the relaxed, oversized and close body designs cluster in tops, knits and the newest dresses.

Counts are taken from the fit note on each live Posse page on Coveti in October 2026. The true to size column includes the 9 pieces that simply say to take your usual size.

Is the Resort 27 drop sized differently?

The Resort 27 drop plays with volume far more than the rest of the Posse range on Coveti, so read the fit note on every new piece.

Of the 31 pieces from the October 2026 Resort 27 drop, only 10 are described as true to size. Eleven are relaxed, 6 are close body, 2 are oversized and 2 are one size purses. That is the reverse of the wider range, and it is why a shopper who has always taken an S in Posse may find the new season feels different. Our Posse Resort 2027 edit covers the drop piece by piece.

Which Posse pieces fit close to the body?

Close body pieces are cut to follow your shape, so take your usual size and think twice before sizing down.

All six close body styles are from the Resort 27 drop. The Florian Dress in Black is a straight cotton velvet midi with an invisible zip at centre back and a hook and eye closure, and it is fully lined. The Dean Dress and Dean Mini Dress share the same fastening and lining, with a fitted body. The Dean Top in Black is strapless, with an elasticated top edge and an invisible side zip.

In silk, the Blake Dress in Cloud Pink and the Blake Top in Cloud Pink are close body too, but both have self fabric ties (at the side seams on the dress, at the waist on the top), which give you a little room to adjust. The velvet pieces list cotton velvet with no elastane in the composition, so the zip and the cut do all the work.

Which Posse pieces are relaxed and oversized?

Relaxed and oversized pieces are designed with extra room, and for three of them Posse itself suggests sizing down if you want a closer fit.

  • Primrose Sweater in Black: a merino wool V neck with lace detailing. Posse designs it relaxed and says to take the size down if you prefer a closer fit. The same note applies to the Primrose in Cloud.
  • Ellis Sweater in Cream: a cotton knit with a wide neckline and dropped shoulder. Oversized, with the same advice to size down for a closer fit.
  • Florian Coat in Black: a midi length, reversible coat in a wool and cashmere blend, cut oversized to sit over dresses and knits.
  • Blake Trouser in Black: a cropped silk trouser with an elasticated waistband, designed relaxed.
  • Maeve Baby Tee in Toffee Stripe: a boxy cotton baby tee with a wide boat neckline, relaxed through the body.

The Cody Top is the third style where Posse suggests sizing down, if you would like a more tailored fit. Browse the full edit of designer sweaters for more relaxed knits.

How do Posse coats and trousers fit?

Most Posse coats and trousers are true to size; check the waistband and closure to judge how much give you have.

The Chester Coat in Powder Pink is described as true to size, a mid length coat with a collar, subtle padding in the body and a full lining, so choose your usual letter and leave room for a fine knit. The Wren Coat is also true to size, with a boxy, relaxed cut built in. Explore more shapes in our edit of designer coats.

For trousers, the fastening tells you most. The Florian Trouser in Black is a high rise, cropped cotton velvet trouser with an invisible zip at centre back, true to size and fixed at the waist. The Blake Trouser and the Odette Pant both have elasticated waistbands, so they are more forgiving if you sit between two sizes.

How do you choose between two Posse sizes?

When you sit between two sizes, let the fit note and the fastening decide: size up for zipped close body pieces, size down for relaxed pieces with an elasticated waist.

  1. Read the fit note first. True to size, relaxed, close body and oversized each mean a different starting point.
  2. Check the fastening. An invisible zip with a hook and eye has no give; an elasticated waistband has plenty.
  3. Look at the composition. Pieces with elastane, such as the Tommy family, move with you, while the cotton velvet and silk pieces list no elastane at all.
  4. Compare with the model. If the model is 173cm in XS and you are taller, expect hems to land higher on you.
  5. Think about layering. A coat should go over a knit, so a true to size coat in your usual letter is the safest choice.
  6. Buy the set in two sizes if needed. Posse sells its matching tops, skirts and trousers separately, so you can take a different letter on top and bottom.

That last point is one of the most practical things about the brand. Our guide on how to style a matching set shows how to wear the pieces together and apart. Coveti’s returns page explains what to do if a size is not right.

Which Posse pieces are easiest to size online?

The easiest Posse pieces to buy online are true to size styles with a tie, an elasticated waist and a forgiving cut.

The Odette Wrap Dress in Cream is true to size and has an apron style wrap with a waist tie, so the fit at the waist is yours to set. The Teo Sweater in Black carries a simple take your usual size note and a close to body silhouette that is easy to predict. For party season, our guide to work Christmas party outfits uses several of these pieces, and the full edit of designer dresses shows each fit note on the product page.
