Maison Margiela Cut-Out Jeans in Washed Indigo
The Maison Margiela Cut-Out Jeans in Washed Indigo is a pair of cut-out jeans from the Autumn Winter 2026 collection of Maison Margiela, the Paris house Martin Margiela founded in 1988. Coveti stocks it in our Jeans edit, and every piece is checked for authenticity before it leaves us.
The Cut-Out Jeans is high-rise jeans with slashed detail across the front thighs, cut in 100% cotton. Key details: faded wash and classic five-pocket construction. They have the four white stitches at the back, the blank-label mark the house has used since 1988. Keep them for years, not a season.

About Maison Margiela
Maison Margiela is a Paris fashion house founded in 1988 by the Belgian designer Martin Margiela, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, and his business partner Jenny Meirens. Its first show, for Spring Summer 1989, introduced the split-toe Tabi boot, still the house’s best-known shoe. Margiela built the label on anonymity and on showing how clothes are made: a blank white label held on by four white stitches, exposed seams, linings worn as outer layers and old garments taken apart and remade. The Italian group OTB became majority owner in 2002, Martin Margiela left in 2009, and John Galliano led the house from 2014 to 2024. Glenn Martens, also creative director of Diesel, was appointed in January 2025 and showed his first Artisanal collection in July 2025 and his first ready-to-wear collection, for Spring Summer 2026, that October. Most of the ready-to-wear is made in Italy.
“I would keep the Cut-Out Jeans for years. They are made to be worn hard and look better for it.”

How Maison Margiela Compares
Shoppers looking at Maison Margiela often also consider
The Row,
Lemaire and
Dries Van Noten.
The Row is quieter and purely minimal, and Lemaire is soft, practical Paris dressing. Dries Van Noten shares Margiela’s Antwerp roots but leads with print and colour. Maison Margiela is the most conceptual of the four, built on deconstruction, tailoring taken apart and remade, and the four white stitches.

What do the four white stitches on Maison Margiela mean?
They hold the blank white cotton label to the back of the garment. Martin Margiela chose an unmarked label so the clothes, not the name, would speak, and the four stitches on the outside became the house’s signature.
