LaQuan Smith is the New York label of the designer LaQuan Smith, who was born in Queens in 1988. He taught himself design, learning to sew and cut patterns from his grandmother, and launched the label in 2013. He has been a member of the CFDA since 2021. The collections are designed and made in Long Island City, Queens, and early supporters included Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian. The look is sensual and precise: second skin bodysuits, corsetry, sharp shoulders and fabrics that catch the light.
