About Versace

Versace was founded in Milan in 1978 by Gianni Versace, who was born in Reggio Calabria in
1946 and grew up around his mother’s dressmaking workshop. He chose the Medusa head from Greek myth as the house
emblem, and it still sits on the hardware of almost everything the house makes, framed by the Greca, the Greek key
border. After his death in 1997 his sister Donatella Versace led the design studio for almost three decades.
