The upper is 58% bovine hair and 42% cow suede, set on a thermoplastic rubber tread sole. It keeps the shape of the Icon at ankle height. About Moon Boot
Moon Boot is an Italian footwear house whose story begins in 1969, the year Giancarlo Zanatta founded the Tecnica Group from his father Oreste’s shoe factory. Inspired by the Moon landing that summer, he made the first ambidextrous snow boot, with no left and right foot, and the Icon became the classic boot of the après-ski wardrobe. Moon Boot is a division of Tecnica Group, based in Giavera del Montello near Treviso. The house says the Icon was shown at the Louvre among 100 symbols of 20th-century design, and that it is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Milan Triennale.
“Icon Low Archive 1985 Cow Hide Boots carries the idea Moon Boot started with in 1969: a shape you know at a glance, made warm and easy for winter days.”
