Bogner in brief
Willy Bogner opened a ski shop on the Schommerstrasse in Munich in 1932, after a year in Norway learning how skis were made. In 1936 the German team wore a Bogner windbreaker at the Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the house has outfitted German Olympic skiers since. His wife Maria Bogner led the design, and her slim stretch ski trousers with a stirrup became so widely copied that ski pants of that shape were simply called Bogners. Their son Willy Bogner Jr. raced at two Olympics, filmed ski scenes for James Bond films and made the 1986 film Fire and Ice, which named the younger line. Bogner is still designed in Munich.
The editor’s guide to buying Bogner
For the slope, start with what Bogner invented: a pair of softshell stretch ski trousers, slim and sleek, then a fitted down ski jacket from Bogner Sport. Add a printed first layer that looks good at lunch with the jacket open, and a Norwegian-style knit for the evening. For town, the double-faced wool coats and belted down parkas show the quieter side of the house. Fire+Ice is the easy way in, with bright ski jackets and ski trousers at lower prices. Read our Bogner ski jackets guide, Bogner ski pants guide and Fire+Ice explained.

Base layers and jersey come in letter sizes, where an S matches an EU 36, and jeans are sized by waist in inches. Bogner publishes no sizing correction, so take your usual size. Some ski trousers are also cut in long sizes, which Coveti does not list. Full details are in the Bogner size guide.
