Adam Lippes Cashmere: Fall 2026 Sweaters, Cardigans and Coats

Adam Lippes cashmere for Fall 2026 comes in three finishes: fine cashmere for close-fitting sweaters and cardigans, hand-brushed cashmere with a soft halo for the cropped knits and skirts, and double-face cashmere for a coat, a cape and a reversible jacket. Every cashmere piece in the collection is 100% cashmere, with nothing blended in. Buy the Worth cardigan in fine cashmere first, then add the Ava shell in the same colour and wear the two as a twinset.

Below: how the three cashmeres differ, every Fall 2026 knit and coat on Coveti, fit and care. The full edit sits on the Adam Lippes brand page.

Is Adam Lippes cashmere good quality?

Yes. The fine-gauge knits are described by the brand as Italian 100% fine cashmere: the Worth, Didion, Eve, Marilyn and Naomi all carry that line in their product copy, and the Eve is called featherweight. The brushed pieces are 100% hand-brushed cashmere. The coat and jacket are cut from Italian double-face cashmere. No silk, nylon and wool blends appear anywhere in the Fall 2026 cashmere line.

Lippes designs in New York and spent his early career at Oscar de la Renta, where he became global creative director. His own label now shows four collections a year, and the brand describes its aim as "the finest American sportswear". Knitwear is where that aim is easiest to test: on a cardigan the stitch and the buttons are on show.

Fine cashmere is flat, dry and slightly cool, with a clean stitch you can see. Brushed cashmere has its surface raised into a haze and feels warmer at the wrist. Double-face cashmere is a woven cloth with two finished sides, so it hangs with weight and holds a line no knit can.

Fine vs brushed vs double-face cashmere: what is the difference?

Finish How it feels Fall 2026 pieces Best for
Fine cashmere Smooth, flat, close to the body Worth, Didion, Eve, Ava, Marilyn, Naomi Layering under coats and tailoring, office, travel
Hand-brushed cashmere Hazy, plush surface, warmer to the touch Cruz, Ari, Ava, Levi, Amari Knit sets, weekends, texture against silk
Double-face cashmere Dense woven cloth, two finished faces Daia coat, Hesper cape, Rhodes jacket Outerwear with drape and weight
Cashmere, relaxed cut Enveloping, deep ribbed cuffs Reid turtleneck Oversized layering
Viscose python jacquard (not cashmere) Smooth, cool, pattern knitted in Worth, Sarita, Divya Day-to-night sets

The fine cashmere knits

Worth cardigan: the one to buy first

The Worth cardigan in espresso is cropped, with a crew neckline and self-fabric buttons, and the brand calls it a perennial favourite of the atelier. The short length is the point. It finishes above the hip, so it sits cleanly over a bias skirt and a high-waisted trouser without bunching at the waistband. In merlot it is the colour story of the season.

Ava shell: the other half of the twinset

The Ava shell in espresso is a cropped knit with a relaxed crew neckline, and the brand pairs it directly with the Worth. Wear the two in one colour and you have a twinset, still the most useful cashmere outfit there is: shell alone in a warm office, cardigan on for the walk home.

Didion and Marilyn: crew neck vs V-neck

The Didion in mink is the crew neck, cut with what the brand calls a close, sleek fit. The Marilyn in black is the V-neck, with a close heritage fit, and it also comes in merlot. Choose the Didion if you wear a shirt underneath and want the collar to sit flat over the neckline; our guide to layering a shirt under a jumper covers the details. Choose the Marilyn under a blazer, where the V follows the lapels.

Eve: the featherweight turtleneck

The Eve in mink is a fitted turtleneck in featherweight Italian cashmere, with clean lines and a discreet logo; espresso is the darker option. Featherweight matters at the throat. A fine collar folds flat, so it goes under a coat collar without stacking. Our cashmere turtleneck guide compares it with the Reid.

Naomi: cashmere as a dress

The Naomi dress in mink is floor-length fine cashmere with long sleeves, a turtleneck and an A-line skirt, and it also comes in espresso. It is the most enveloping knit in the collection. The Fall 2026 runway put capes over lean knits against a palette of winter white and icy neutrals; the Naomi under the Hesper cape is the closest you will get to that look off the runway.

The brushed cashmere: Cruz, Ari, Ava, Levi and Amari

Brushed is the finish to choose if you want cashmere to read as cashmere from across a room. The brand describes every one of these as 100% hand-brushed cashmere.

  • The Cruz cardigan in barley is cropped and finished with custom Italian Swarovski crystal buttons. It also comes in ivory and pink. Those buttons make it the cardigan to wear out to dinner.
  • The Ari top in barley is a short-sleeve mock neck trimmed in fine ribbing, designed as a set with the Levi skirt.
  • The brushed Ava shell keeps the relaxed crew neckline of the fine version, with a softer surface, and the brand pairs it with the Cruz.
  • The Levi skirt in barley is a slim knit skirt with a ribbed waistband. It also comes in ivory.
  • The Amari skirt is a brushed cashmere midi in tiger print, made as a set with the Ari top in tiger.

One point of confusion worth clearing up: the brushed tiger Ari and Amari are a separate print from the Scalamandré collaboration, which covers only the silk velvet Margaux coat and Rei skirt. Our guide to how to wear a sweater and skirt set covers the knit sets.

Double-face cashmere: the coat, the cape and the jacket

Double-face is a cloth woven with two right sides, which is why it drapes with such weight and why a jacket in it can be reversible.

  • The Daia coat in ebony is floor-length Italian double-face cashmere, designed to be worn almost like a cardigan. It comes with a matching self-belt and a slim black leather belt, so you choose how it closes.
  • The Hesper cape in black drapes over the shoulders, with custom hand-carved chain-link buttons along the sides that fasten to create sleeves. Leave them open for a classic cape line; see our cape coats edit for more.
  • The Rhodes jacket in mink grey is completely reversible, with contrast colours inside and out, side pockets, a gold hook-and-eye closure and a detachable scarf.

The Reid, and the knits that are not cashmere

The Reid in hazel is 100% cashmere, an enveloping turtleneck with wide sleeves and deep ribbed cuffs, also in mint. It is cut oversized, and the brand notes that a fitted silhouette is achieved by sizing down. It is the only Fall 2026 knit with that note.

Not every knit is cashmere. The python Worth, Sarita and Divya pieces are viscose jacquard; the Worth in ivory python keeps the cropped Worth shape and makes a good second cardigan for evening.

Which Adam Lippes cashmere should you buy first?

  • Best overall: the Worth cardigan in espresso fine cashmere. Cropped, crew neck, it works with every skirt and trouser in the collection.
  • Best twinset: the Worth and the Ava shell in merlot, worn together.
  • Best for texture: the Cruz cardigan in barley, brushed, with crystal buttons.
  • Best turtleneck: the Eve in mink, fine enough to layer under anything.
  • Best oversized knit: the Reid in hazel.
  • Best investment: the Daia coat, a floor-length double-face coat you can belt two ways.

How does Adam Lippes knitwear fit?

Knits are sized XXS to XXL; the woven pieces run UK 4 to 18, which is US 0 to 14. Coveti’s read is true to size, and the brand gives no general instruction to size up. Fit is described by shape: the Didion is close and sleek, the Marilyn a close heritage fit, the Eve fitted, the Ava relaxed at the neck. The Reid is the exception, oversized by design. The full conversion chart is in our Adam Lippes size guide; check the product page for current sizes.

How do you care for Adam Lippes cashmere?

Every Fall 2026 piece, knits included, is labelled Dry Clean Only. Follow the label. Many cashmere labels allow a cool hand wash, but these do not, and a shrunken Worth cannot be fixed.

  • Fold knits, never hang them. A hanger pulls the shoulders out of shape within a season.
  • Rest a sweater for a day between wears, and store it clean in a cotton bag with cedar.
  • On fine cashmere, lift pills with a cashmere comb. On brushed cashmere, pick them off by hand; a comb flattens the halo.
  • Hang the double-face coat and cape on broad, shaped hangers, and steam out creases rather than ironing.

How does Adam Lippes cashmere compare with other labels?

If your wardrobe leans austere, compare the cuts at The Row and Khaite. If knitwear is the centre of your wardrobe, Brunello Cucinelli is the natural cross-check. Lippes sits closest to polished American sportswear, where a classic shape carries one unexpected detail: crystal buttons on the Cruz, chain-links on the Hesper. See also brands like Adam Lippes.

Frequently asked questions

Is Adam Lippes cashmere good quality?

Yes. The Fall 2026 fine knits, including the Worth, Didion, Eve, Marilyn and Naomi, are described by the brand as Italian 100% fine cashmere, the brushed pieces are 100% hand-brushed cashmere, and the Daia coat and Rhodes jacket are Italian double-face cashmere. Nothing in the cashmere line is blended with silk, nylon and other fibres, and finishing details include self-fabric buttons and crystal buttons.

What is the difference between fine and brushed cashmere?

Fine cashmere is knitted from smooth yarn and left flat, so it looks clean and sits close to the body. Brushed cashmere has its surface raised after knitting, which gives a soft, hazy halo and a warmer feel. At Adam Lippes the Worth, Didion and Eve are fine, while the Cruz cardigan, Ari top and Levi skirt are hand-brushed.

Does Adam Lippes knitwear run small?

No. Coveti’s read is that Adam Lippes knitwear is true to size, sized XXS to XXL, and the brand does not tell customers to size up. Fit varies by style: the Didion is close and sleek, the Ava relaxed at the neck. The oversized Reid turtleneck is the exception, and its product note says to size down for a fitted look.

Can you wash Adam Lippes cashmere at home?

No. Every Adam Lippes Fall 2026 piece, knitwear included, is labelled Dry Clean Only, so professional cleaning is the safe route. Between cleans, fold the knits instead of hanging them, rest each piece a day between wears, store it in a breathable cotton bag with cedar, and remove pills with a cashmere comb on fine knits.

What is double-face cashmere?

Double-face cashmere is a woven cloth with two finished sides, so it drapes with weight and can be worn inside out. Adam Lippes uses it for the floor-length Daia coat, the Hesper cape with chain-link buttons that fasten into sleeves, and the Rhodes jacket, which is completely reversible with contrast colours inside and out and a detachable scarf.

Is the Adam Lippes tiger knit part of the Scalamandre collaboration?

No. The brushed cashmere Ari top and Amari skirt carry a separate tiger print. The Scalamandré x Adam Lippes collaboration covers two pieces only, the Margaux coat and the Rei skirt, both in silk velvet pile with the Tigre motif that Franco Scalamandré introduced in the 1960s. The cashmere set is softer and easier to wear by day.
