The editor’s guide to buying Amiri

Start with the sneakers. They are the reason most people know the name. The Skel-Top Low carries leather bone appliques along the side, the MA-1 is a chunky basketball shape, and the Stars Court Low is the retro court shoe with star appliques. The Pacific Flat and the Coastline are lower and slimmer, closer to a vintage trainer, and they are the easiest to wear with a skirt.

Then the bags. The MA bag is the house handbag, named for the MA icon on its hardware, and Amiri makes it in Nano, Micro and full sizes, in smooth leather, crystal, croc-debossed suede, raffia, shearling and the MA Quad monogram. The Millie is the slim east-west shoulder bag, the Honey has a soft rounded shape with top handles, and the Biscotto is the slouchy crescent you wear under the arm.

The ready-to-wear is built on the same codes: leather jackets with a worn-in finish, cropped down jackets with the Bones motif, knit mini skirts with a stripe at the hem, and tees and tanks carrying the MA logo. Colour runs from black and alabaster to seasonal shades such as Husk, Aged Port and Garden Rose. Amiri sizing

Amiri women’s shoes are sold in whole EU sizes, 35 to 41 for most styles. Amiri publishes no sizing correction for them, so order your usual EU size. Ready-to-wear runs XXS to XL, and some pieces use Italian sizes 36 to 46.
