MM6 in brief
MM6 began in 1997 as Line 6, named after its number on the Maison Margiela label, which carries the numbers 0 to 23 with one circled to show the line. It is designed by the house in Paris and owned by the same Italian group, OTB. Its signature accessory, the Japanese bag, first appeared for Autumn Winter 2009. The editor’s guide to buying MM6
Start with the bag. A Small Japanese bag in leather is the clearest MM6 piece, and the Medium works as a day tote. Add a pair of Anatomic ballet flats with the numeric elastic, a numeric T-shirt and wide-leg jeans with twisted seams. For autumn, the belted trench coat and the lining-look slip dress are the pieces of the season, worn with suede Anatomic boots. Our guides to the Japanese bag, ballet flats and Autumn Winter 2026 go through it piece by piece.

MM6 publishes no general sizing correction, so take your usual size. Full details are in the MM6 size guide.
