Designer Snow Boots for Women: The Coveti Buying Guide

A designer snow boot is a winter boot from a fashion house that is built for cold, wet ground, usually with an insulated upper, a warm lining and a rubber sole, and cut to look right off the slope as well as on it. The Moon Boot collection at Coveti is the centre of our women’s designer boots for snow, led by the Icon Nylon Boots in Black, the house’s original 1969 shape at $320 at Coveti.

The short answer, then. For snow and après-ski on one pair, buy a tall Moon Boot Icon: the house describes it as insulated, water-repellent and snow-proof, with a rubber tread sole. For a closer, more conventional fit, take the LTrack. For a fashion boot that does the walk from chalet to restaurant in shearling and suede, look at the pairs from Brunello Cucinelli, Magda Butrym, Roger Vivier and Gianvito Rossi, which start at $2,250 at Coveti.

What makes a snow boot worth buying

Four things matter more than the label, and they are worth checking on any product page before you buy.

Height. A boot that reaches mid-calf keeps snow out of the top and takes ski trousers tucked inside. An ankle boot is easier in town but lets powder in on a deep day. Decide where you will walk before you decide on a shape.

The upper. Nylon sheds wet snow and can be wiped clean. Suede and shearling are warm and soft but need more care, and the house’s own instruction for suede is never to immerse it. Faux fur and fleece sit somewhere between.

The lining. Read the composition line. Some boots that look shaggy outside have a plain polyester lining, and some plain suede boots are lined in sheepskin. On the EVX Suede and Shearling Boots in Brown, at $540 at Coveti, the lining is 87% sheepskin under a cow suede upper. On the LTrack Lara Boots in Black, at $490 at Coveti, it is 63% sheep leather.

The sole. Of the 107 Moon Boot boots we carry, 72 list a sole of 100% thermoplastic rubber. For the Icon, the house adds a lightweight mid sole and suction pads on the tread for grip.

Moon Boot: the snow boot at the centre

Moon Boot is an Italian house, a division of Tecnica Group in the province of Treviso, and its first boot came from Giancarlo Zanatta’s idea in 1969 for a snow boot with no left and no right. According to Wikipedia, it was first made as après-ski wear in the early 1970s. Our profile of who makes Moon Boot has the full history.

The house now makes far more than one boot, and Coveti carries 107 Moon Boot boots and ankle boots. They fall into a few clear choices for snow.

The tall Icon

The original, and the most practical for deep snow. It is a tall slip-on with a drawstring, sold in multisize EU bands with the advice to size up. The nylon Icon is $320 at Coveti in eight colourways; the Icon Shearling Boots in Brown, in sheepskin and cow suede, are $890 at Coveti. For a shaggier look, the Icon Faux-Fur Boots in Black are $490 at Coveti.

The Icon Low

The same boot cut to the ankle, and the biggest line we carry, with 38 pairs. It is the town boot of the family. The Icon Low Shearling Boots in Brown are $810 at Coveti. Our guide to the Icon vs Icon Low compares the two in detail.

LTrack and EVX

LTrack is sold in single EU sizes and fits like a conventional boot; the house says go one size up between sizes. The LTrack Faux-Fur High Boots in Black are $490 at Coveti. EVX is the lighter family, multisize like the Icon, with the Igloo and Fairy boots in sheepskin and suede at $570 at Coveti.

The other houses: shearling and suede for the resort

Coveti’s other winter boots come from four houses, and they are a different proposition from Moon Boot. These are fashion boots in leather, suede and shearling, priced well above any Moon Boot, and best for the walk through the village rather than a day in deep snow. We hold names and prices for these pairs, not full compositions, so we describe them only as their names do.

Brunello Cucinelli

Two pairs. The Suede mountain-style boots in Dark Grey are $3,150 at Coveti, a mountain boot shape in suede. The Aged calfskin and waxed nylon boots in Black are $3,050 at Coveti, and the waxed nylon is the detail to note for wet weather. More on the Brunello Cucinelli brand page.

Magda Butrym

The Shearling ankle boots in brown are $2,770 at Coveti, a shearling ankle boot for cold evenings. See the Magda Butrym brand page.

Roger Vivier and Gianvito Rossi

The Viv’ Up Booties in Camel Suede and Shearling from Roger Vivier are $2,250 at Coveti, the lowest-priced of the four houses’ boots here. The Kiso Fur Ankle Boots from Gianvito Rossi are $2,470 at Coveti. Both are on the Roger Vivier and Gianvito Rossi brand pages.

Choosing between them

Price makes the first cut. The most expensive Moon Boot we carry is $1,520 at Coveti; the least expensive of the other houses’ boots is $2,250 at Coveti. Function makes the second. A Moon Boot Icon is built to be stood in, in snow, all day. A shearling bootie is built to be seen in at dinner. If you ski, one of each is the sensible pair, and the Icon Low sits neatly between, warm enough for the walk and low enough for a restaurant.

If you are dressing for après-ski specifically, start with our après-ski outfit guide, and pair the boots with pieces from our women’s skiwear edit. Our guide to how to wear Moon Boots covers the styling.

Reading the table

The table below counts the winter boots we stock from each house and gives the price range. The gap it shows is the whole story of this category. Moon Boot accounts for 107 pairs from $320 to $1,520; the four other houses together account for five pairs, all between $2,250 and $3,150. For range and price, Moon Boot is the obvious place to start; the other houses are for one special pair.

House Winter boots at Coveti Price (USD)
Moon Boot 107 $320 to $1,520
Brunello Cucinelli 2 $3,050 to $3,150
Magda Butrym 1 $2,770
Roger Vivier 1 $2,250
Gianvito Rossi 1 $2,470

How we measured: we searched Coveti’s in-stock shoes on 1 November 2026 for winter boots from other houses (shearling, fur and mountain styles) and found the five pairs listed in this guide; Moon Boot counts the boots and ankle boots we added the same day. Prices are Coveti list prices.

Designer snow boots around the world

United States. The category is large: snow boots women draws about 49,500 searches a month in the US, après-ski boots 22,200 and designer snow boots 1,900. Searches for Moon Boot itself average 201,000 a month and climb to around 550,000 in December. US sizes need converting from EU on every boot here; on the Moon Boot multisize chart, US women’s 8 to 9.5 is the 39 to 41 band, and our Moon Boot size guide has the rest.

United Kingdom. About 12,100 searches a month for snow boots women and 720 for après-ski boots. A British winter is wet more often than snowy, which favours nylon and rubber over suede for daily wear, and keeps shearling for the ski trip. UK 6 to 7.5 is the 39 to 41 band.

Europe. This is the home of the ski season and of Moon Boot. Women’s searches for the boot run to about 14,800 a month in Germany, 12,100 in Italy and 8,100 in France. EU sizes read directly from every label.

The Gulf. Search volume is smaller, about 2,400 a month for Moon Boot in the UAE and 1,300 in Saudi Arabia, and the use is travel. A Gulf buyer packing for Courchevel, St. Moritz and the Dolomites needs one boot for snow and one for evenings, and both have to fit in a case. A tall Icon and a shearling ankle boot cover it. Our Dolomites guide and après-ski edit help with the rest.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best designer snow boots for women?

For real snow, the tall Moon Boot Icon is the most practical designer choice: the house describes it as insulated, water-repellent and snow-proof, on a rubber tread sole. For a conventional fit, try the Moon Boot LTrack. For evenings at a resort, the shearling and suede boots from Brunello Cucinelli, Magda Butrym, Roger Vivier and Gianvito Rossi are the dressier option.

Are Moon Boots good for snow?

The tall Icon was conceived as a snow boot in 1969 and was first made as après-ski wear in the early 1970s, according to Wikipedia. The house describes the Icon as insulated, water-repellent and snow-proof, with a rubber tread sole fitted with suction pads. For deep snow, choose the tall Icon over the Icon Low.

What boots should I wear for après-ski?

Something warm that grips and looks right indoors. A Moon Boot Icon Low in shearling, fleece and faux fur works from the slope to the bar. If dinner is the main event, a shearling ankle boot from Roger Vivier and Magda Butrym is dressier. Avoid immersing suede: the house says to clean it with a brush and a damp cloth.

How much do designer snow boots cost at Coveti?

Moon Boot snow boots run from $320 at Coveti for the nylon Icon to $1,520 at Coveti for the Icon Low Biker Boots. The other houses’ winter boots are priced from $2,250 at Coveti for the Roger Vivier Viv’ Up Booties to $3,150 at Coveti for the Brunello Cucinelli suede mountain-style boots.

How do Moon Boot snow boots fit?

The Icon, Icon Low and EVX are sold in multisize EU bands, and the house recommends sizing up, so an EU 38 chooses 39 to 41. LTrack is sold in single sizes; between sizes, go one size up. Mezzaluna fits large, so go half a size down. Our Moon Boot size guide covers every line.

Should snow boots have a shearling lining?

Shearling is warm, but check the composition line, because looks can mislead. Some Moon Boots with shaggy uppers have polyester linings, while the EVX Suede and Shearling Boots are lined in 87% sheepskin and the LTrack Lara in 63% sheep leather. Choose by lining if warmth inside matters most to you.
