Designer Work Bags: Structured Bags for the Office

A good work bag carries a laptop, keeps its shape and looks as sharp at 6pm as it did at 9am. Here is our edit, with Savette‘s Large Symmetry Trapeze and Anello Tote leading. See more in tote and top-handle bags, and read our Savette Bags: A Guide to Every Family and Which One to Buy for sizing across the range.

What to look for

A flat base, a strap long enough for a coat, a zip, a magnetic closure and a smooth lining that wipes clean. Check the dimensions against your laptop before buying.

The edit

Leather, canvas and raffia

Smooth calf is the most hardwearing for daily commuting. Grained leather hides scratches. Canvas and raffia are better kept for summer.

How we chose

We measured each bag against a 13 inch laptop sleeve and kept only those with a structured base, a comfortable strap drop and leather that will take daily commuting. All are in stock at Coveti.

Tote, shoulder bag and briefcase

A tote is the most flexible work bag and the easiest to pack. A large shoulder bag, like the Savette Large Symmetry Trapeze, looks more polished in meetings. A briefcase shape suits formal offices but is the least versatile at the weekend.
