La DoubleJ Headbands and Scrunchies: The Hair Edit

J.J. Martin founded La DoubleJ in Milan in 2015 on the idea that prints are made to be mixed. A headband is the smallest way to try that idea on. There is no size to work out, and a plaited band in a house print sits as happily on a black polo neck as it does on a Swing Dress.

Why hair accessories are the easiest way into La DoubleJ

Every headband, scrunchie and clip in this edit is one size, so the only decision is the print. A hair piece also gives you a small, contained dose of pattern. If a whole printed dress feels like a leap, a Rapunzel with a navy coat lets you see how the prints behave next to your face first. Nearly all of them are made in Italy, in the fabrics La DoubleJ is known for, from Italian silk and jacquard to devore velvet and fil coupe.

Rapunzel Headband

The Rapunzel is the plaited one: a braided design on a cushioned band. Alongside the Giga Scrunchie it is one of the two largest groups in the hair edit, in prints from Bamboo Yellow to Cherubs Black. The Rapunzel Headband in Coven Pink is new for Autumn Winter 2026, a chiffon lurex with a sheer texture and a golden surface from a specialty yarn. For more shine, Jive Pink is fil coupe in silk and metallic yarn.

Medici Headband

The Medici keeps the padded, cushioned band and drops the plait. The Medici Headband in Botanical Black is a fully lined cotton-mix jacquard woven with several colours beyond the base warp. The Medici Headband in Bicolor Black is boucle lurex with a fine, bright reflection. Both are Autumn Winter 2026, and Herald Fuchsia and Lark Black continue in jacquard.

Love Knot Headband

The Love Knot leans on fabric. The Love Knot Headband in Quill Green is velvet stretch in an all-over print, new this season. The Love Knot Headband in Cherubs Blue is a devore in viscose and silk, and Lunaria Light Pink comes in crushed velvet.

Flat Headband

The Flat Headband in Stripes Multicolor is the plainest shape, a flat band in a cotton mix. Peony Red and Tropicana White come in jacquard. This is the headband to wear to the office.

Giga Scrunchies, Bow Scrunchies and sets

The Giga Scrunchie is extra large and elasticated, and it covers a wide spread of fabrics. The Giga Scrunchie in Heath Mint is Italian silk, as are Fun-Gi Green and Riptide Light Blue, while Mayfair Black is devore velvet and Mini Iris Dark Orange is Italian cotton lace. The Bow Scrunchie in Smarties Orange is a polyester twill, also in Cocoon Blue.

Salon Clips and the Crystals Hair Clip

The Salon Clip in Pink is a resin hair clip with a brass detail, also in Light Yellow. The Jazzy Salon Clip in Purple adds brass studs to the resin and comes in Orange too. The Crystals Hair Clip in Lilac is brass set with multicoloured crystals, and it is the dressiest piece here.

How to wear La DoubleJ hair accessories

A cushioned headband like the Medici sits best set back a little from the hairline, with the hair down and tucked behind the ears. The plaited Rapunzel works the same way and adds a little height at the crown. The Giga Scrunchie is big enough to read as an accessory in its own right, so wear it on a low ponytail where it can be seen, and keep it on your wrist when your hair is down. The Salon Clips hold a half-up twist at the back of the head, and a Crystals Hair Clip worn at the side does the work of earrings at night. Wear one hair piece at a time, because a headband and a clip together compete.

How to match a headband to a print dress

There are two ways to do it. The first is to match the print exactly. The Autumn Winter 2026 hair pieces carry the season’s Coven, Quill and Botanical prints plus a Bicolor boucle, so if you own a dress in one of those, the headband turns it into a set. Prints also repeat across the hair edit itself. Iris Yellow appears on both a Rapunzel and a Giga Scrunchie, and Bamboo comes as a yellow Rapunzel, a burgundy Love Knot and a black Giga.

The second way is contrast. Pull one colour from the dress and choose a band in that shade in a different texture, so velvet against silk twill, jacquard against jersey. Then change the scale. A dense, busy print wants a band that reads as solid, like the Bicolor Black Medici, while a quieter print can take a plaited Rapunzel.
