Le Patou Bag: The Complete Guide

Le Patou Bag is the house bag, introduced in 2021 and built on a single
idea: take the JP monogram Jean Patou put on 1920s sportswear and cut it into the leather. The
result is a half-circle body with geometric cut-outs, gold-tone hardware and a strap that
adjusts for the shoulder and for across the body.

What it is made from

Calf leather, with linings in recycled polyester on several runs. The house states that both
Le Patou and Le Petit Patou are produced only from upcycled leather taken from
high-end dead stock, and that it uses no fur at all.

How it wears

The adjustable strap is the reason to buy it. Shortened, it sits under the arm with a coat;
dropped, it goes across the body with denim when your hands are full. The half-circle holds its
shape without a base insert, and the cut-outs are cut rather than printed, so they do not rub
off. Gold-tone hardware, engraved at the side.

Care

Specialist leather cleaning only. Feed the outer leather with a proper leather product, keep
water off it, and store it in the dust bag away from sunlight and heat. The house is blunt
about the one thing that ruins the shape: do not overload it.

How it compares
