Is the Fur on Mackage Real? Fox, Shearling and Fur-Free Mackage Coats Explained

Yes, the fur on a Mackage coat is real when the coat has fur: the composition label names the animal, and the FW26 ski pieces read “Fur: 100% fox”. Most Mackage icons with fur also come without it, so the women’s coats range includes fox, raccoon, shearling and fur-free versions of the same designs. The Rayna-X ski jacket shows how it works: a removable fox collar on a shell you can wear without it.

Key Facts

  • The Rayna-X, Rayna-BX, Auxane-BX and Auxane-BXDNM list “Fur: 100% fox”, and all four describe a removable fur collar.
  • Older Mackage icons name the fur in full, such as “100% finland silver fox” on the Adali-X and “100% finland raccoon” on the Adali-F.
  • Shearling appears as a removable collar on the Beverly, a removable bib on the Riley and sheepskin panels on the Robert.
  • Versions such as Kay-NFR, Adali-NFR, Edward-NFR and Dixon-NFR list no fur in their composition.
  • Mackage fur is not covered by the warranty unless a style is deemed defective, but replacement fur can be bought through after-sales service.

Is the fur on Mackage real?

On styles with fur trims, yes. Mackage lists the trim as its own line in the composition, after shell, lining and fill. The four new ski pieces for winter 2026/27 say “Fur: 100% fox”: the Rayna-X in black, the Rayna-BX in off white, the Auxane-BX ski suit and the Auxane-BXDNM denim ski suit. Their product pages do not name the type of fox, so we do not either.

Earlier styles are more specific. The Adali-X lists “Fur: 100% finland silver fox”. The Kay-BX and Trish-BX list “100% finland blue fox”, and the Trish-BX adds a second line, “Fur 2: 100% rabbit”. The Adali-F and Kay-F list “100% finland raccoon”.

Which Mackage coats have fur, and can you remove it?

Mackage says “removable” on its ski collars and on the trims of its 2-in-1 parkas. On the Signature Collar coats, the product pages do not describe the fur as removable, so assume it stays on.

Style Type Fur on the label Removable?

Auxane-BX, Auxane-BXDNM Fitted ski suit, rated to minus 20C 100% fox Yes, removable fur collar

Which Mackage coats use shearling?

Shearling is sheepskin with the wool left on, and Mackage uses it on several winter 2026/27 pieces. The belted Beverly down coat lists “Collar: 100% sheep leather” and carries a warning that its collar “is real shearling fur, of 100% natural wool”. The collar is removable. The men’s Riley lists “Fur: 100% sheep” for its removable shearling bib with hood. The Robert bomber mixes quilted down with a 100% sheepskin combo shell and a shearling-trimmed spread collar and hem. Our guide to Mackage shearling jackets compares them.

Does Mackage make coats without fur?

Yes. Most Mackage icons come in a fur-free version, and on the styles we checked those versions carry no fur line in their composition. The Kay-NFR and Adali-NFR keep the same down coat design, without fur. The Edward-NFR and Dixon-NFR keep the removable hooded bib. The Shyla-NF and Shyla-NFZ 2-in-1 longline coats have no fur either.

Most of the new ski jackets are fur-free too. The Iclyn-DNM, Iclyn-FN, Cataline-WMK and Kairi-GLO list shell, lining and fill only. Mackage also makes styles named as faux fur, such as the Nanny Faux-Fur Jacket and the Gwendal Reversible Faux Fur Hoodie. For more fur-free texture, see our edit of faux fur jackets.

Reading the style name

The letters after a Mackage style name follow a pattern on current labels. Versions ending in NF, NFR and NFZ have no fur in the composition. X and BX versions list fox. F versions list raccoon. SH versions list sheep. Mackage does not publish this as an official key, so always read the composition line on the product page before you buy.

Is Mackage fur-free?

No. Mackage still uses real fur on some styles, such as the removable fox collars on the FW26 ski jackets and ski suits, and the composition label always names the animal. Most of its icons also come in fur-free versions, so shoppers who prefer no animal fur can choose the NF and NFR styles, which keep the same cut.

How do you care for a Mackage fur collar?

Take a removable collar off before any washing. Mackage says to detangle fur with your fingers only, and its shearling warning on the Beverly says do not wash, do not tumble dry, do not blow dry and do not steam. Fur is not covered by the Mackage warranty unless a style is deemed defective, and Mackage counts shedding as normal wear. Replacement fur can be bought through Mackage after-sales service. Our guide on how to clean a Mackage coat covers each trim, and how to tell if Mackage is real explains how the fur line on a genuine label reads.

If a hood matters more to you than a collar, our guide to Mackage hooded down coats and the Mackage women’s ski jackets comparison show the hood on every style.
