Denim on the Slopes: Mackage’s Denim and Flannel Ski Jackets, Explained
Denim on the Slopes: Mackage’s Denim and Flannel Ski Jackets, Explained
A denim puffer jacket you can actually ski in is the idea behind Mackage’s denim pieces for winter 2026/27: the women’s Iclyn-DNM, the men’s Frost-DNM and the Auxane-BXDNM ski suit, all down-filled, rated to minus 15C to minus 20C and built with RECCO. The “denim” is a polyester fabric with a denim face, water resistant but not waterproof, and a matching flannel group (Iclyn-FN, Samuel-FN, Tate-FN) works the same way. Shop them in the Mackage collection and our women’s skiwear edit, starting with the Iclyn-DNM in Medium Denim.
Key Facts
- Three Mackage denim ski pieces for FW26: Iclyn-DNM (women), Frost-DNM (men) and the Auxane-BXDNM ski suit (women).
- The denim shells are polyester: Iclyn-DNM and Frost-DNM list “Shell: 100% polyester”.
- Warmth ratings: Iclyn-DNM and Auxane-BXDNM minus 20C (minus 4F); Frost-DNM minus 15C (5F).
- All three are filled with 90% down and 10% feathers and list RECCO.
- Water resistant, never waterproof. Frost-DNM adds seam-sealed construction.
- The flannel pieces (Iclyn-FN, Samuel-FN, Tate-FN) have 100% recycled polyester shells.
What is a Mackage denim ski jacket made of?
It looks like denim and it is built like a ski jacket. Mackage calls the Iclyn-DNM fabric a technical denim with thick thread stitches, and the composition label reads 100% polyester for the shell, 100% recycled nylon for the lining and 90% down, 10% feathers for the fill. The Frost-DNM label lists the same three. So this is not cotton jean fabric with padding sewn in; it is a synthetic shell with a denim face, quilted to a down lining.
The Auxane-BXDNM suit mixes fabrics. Its main shell is 82% polyamide and 18% elastane for stretch, the sleeves and upper body are 100% polyester denim, and the front upper body and under sleeves go back to a stretch nylon blend.

Iclyn-DNM: the women’s denim ski jacket
The Iclyn-DNM is a relaxed ski jacket at 67 cm from shoulder to hem, designed to be worn with heavier layers. It has a storm visor hood, a detachable powder skirt, branded silicone adjustable tabs, a quilted down lining, water-resistant zippers and RECCO, and it is rated to minus 20C. The thick contrast stitching is what makes it read as denim from across the slope. It shares its build with the flannel Iclyn-FN; both are compared with the Rayna, Cataline and Kairi in our guide to Mackage women’s ski jackets.
Frost-DNM: the men’s denim ski jacket
The Frost-DNM leans into the workwear look with topstitched seams, a velcro storm placket and 3D patch pockets with velcro flaps. Underneath the styling it is a seam-sealed down ski jacket with a non-removable hood and adjustable storm visor, rib-knit storm cuffs with thumb loops and RECCO. It is cut relaxed, 78 cm long, and rated to minus 15C. Our guide to Mackage men’s ski jackets sets it beside the Samuel-FN, Jaxton and Cillian-WMK.
Auxane-BXDNM: the denim ski suit
For a one-piece, the Auxane-BXDNM is the denim version of Mackage’s Auxane suit. It is fitted, rated to minus 20C, and has a removable collar labelled “Fur: 100% fox”, a detachable top jacket, a detachable powder skirt, active storm cuffs with thumb holes, water-resistant zippers and a Mackage branded storm placket. The full comparison with the Auxane-BX is in Mackage ski suits.
Is a denim ski jacket warm?
These ones are. The warmth comes from the down, not the face fabric. The Iclyn-DNM and the Auxane-BXDNM are rated to minus 20C, the same as Mackage’s fox-collared Rayna, and the Frost-DNM to minus 15C. The Iclyn-DNM’s storm visor hood and detachable powder skirt, and the Frost-DNM’s fixed hood and thumb-loop cuffs, help hold that heat in. See how those numbers compare with the city coats in Mackage warmth ratings.
Is a denim ski jacket waterproof?
No, and Mackage does not claim it is. The Iclyn-DNM and the Auxane-BXDNM are labelled water repellent and water resistant, and both have water-resistant zippers. The Frost-DNM lists seam-sealed construction, which helps keep water out at the stitch lines. None of the three has a waterproof rating in millimetres, and none mentions a waterproof membrane. For long days in wet snow, check our guide to waterproof ratings.
What about the flannel ski jackets?
Flannel is the other unexpected fabric in the FW26 ski range, and it follows the same logic as the denim: a familiar city texture on a recycled polyester shell. The women’s Iclyn-FN is rated to minus 20C. The men’s Samuel-FN is rated to minus 15C and adds interior elastic shoulder straps. The Tate-FN ski pants match both in Grey Mix, with a 100% polyester fill, velcro waist tabs, a snow gaiter at the hem, a scuff guard and RECCO. Worn with the Samuel-FN they make a full flannel ski suit.
Do Mackage denim ski jackets have RECCO?
Yes. The Iclyn-DNM, Frost-DNM and Auxane-BXDNM all list RECCO technology, as do the Iclyn-FN, Samuel-FN and Tate-FN. RECCO is a passive reflector that needs no power and no activation, and it does not replace an avalanche transceiver. Our guide What is RECCO? explains how rescuers use it.
How do you wash a Mackage denim ski jacket?
Follow the care label inside. For the Iclyn-DNM and Frost-DNM, close the zippers, remove any removable trims and wash inside out in a domestic machine at no more than 30C on a delicate setting with mild detergent. Tumble dry on low with tennis balls until fully dry, which takes 1 to 3 hours. Do not dry clean them. The flannel Iclyn-FN and Samuel-FN follow the same 30C delicate routine. Our guide to cleaning a Mackage coat covers drying down properly.
How to wear denim on the slopes
Keep the rest quiet. A denim ski jacket already carries the look, so pair it with black ski pants, a cream knit and tonal accessories. On the men’s side, the Frost-DNM over the black Tate shell pant is the cleanest combination. Fit notes for each style are in the Mackage size guide.
