Mary Katrantzou Resort 2027: The Four Prints, the Shapes and 10 Pieces to Buy
Mary Katrantzou Resort 2027: The Four Prints, the Shapes and 10 Pieces to Buy
Mary Katrantzou is the London label founded in 2008 by the Athens-born print designer of the same name, and its Resort 2027 collection is built on four print stories cut into jacquard tailoring, velvet, lace and organza for evening dressing. Coveti carries 45 of the pieces in our designer evening gowns edit and on the Mary Katrantzou brand page, and our guide to Mary Katrantzou prints, kintsugi and marbling explains the artwork behind each story.
Key facts
- Mary Katrantzou Resort 2027 is built on four prints: Mizutama Marble, Kintsugi Myth, Ame Marble and Sumina Marble.
- The Mizutama Marble jacquards are 90% polyester, 6% silk and 4% polyamide.
- Mary Katrantzou sizes in UK, and a UK 8 equals a US 4, an IT 40 and a FR 36.
- The house says the Kira kaftan runs big and advises sizing down one to two sizes.
The house lists 52 pieces for the season and tags them Resort 2027. This edit covers the prints, the shapes, how to wear them, sizing and ten pieces to buy. For the designer’s own story, read who Mary Katrantzou is.
What is in the Mary Katrantzou Resort 2027 collection?
Four prints run through the season, and every piece belongs to one of them. The palette is deep: claret, emerald, navy and a rose pink and caramel landscape, with gold that refers to kintsugi.
Katrantzou trained in architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design before taking textile design and fashion at Central Saint Martins, and the structure shows. She is known for engineering digital prints to the pattern piece, so a motif is placed to meet a seam, a waist and a hem instead of repeating across a bolt of cloth. Since April 2024 she has also been Bulgari’s first creative director of leather goods and accessories.
The four print stories
Mizutama Marble
Mizutama is the Japanese word for a water droplet, and it inspired both the repeat print and the special fabrications. The grounds are claret red and emerald green, lit with warm gold that the house likens to kintsugi. This is the largest story, made as a printed polyester, a woven jacquard, a claret lace and a claret pleated block colour.
Kintsugi Myth
These are archive-inspired artworks that mix myth and fairytale with kintsugi. In the Jasper colourway a tree winds its branches around the body, with rose pink and caramel mist on the horizon and birds in the distance. In the Azurite colourway a river runs through waterfalls into marbled waves, with nymphs and fragments of classical architecture on its banks.
Ame Marble
Ame is the Japanese word for rain. The print combines autumn downpours with traditional water marbling: deep navy, with raindrops that pool into flowering marble at the hems of gowns and pleats.
Sumina Marble
Sumina comes from suminagashi, the Japanese art of water marbling, whose name means floating ink. The print swirls in organic ribbons of colour. Only one piece is carried at Coveti, the sequinned Lico dress; the rest of the story sold out at source.
The key silhouettes, from jacquard tailoring to kaftans
Jacquard tailoring. In a jacquard the pattern is woven in on a jacquard loom, named after Joseph Marie Jacquard, who patented his punched-card loom in 1804. The Mizutama jacquards are 90% polyester, 6% silk and 4% polyamide, and they make the house’s printed suit: the peplum Hudson jacket, the high-waisted Thalia trousers, the Gianna mini skirt and the Vargas pencil skirt. Our explainer on what jacquard fabric is goes further, and the jacquard jackets guide sets the Hudson beside other labels.
Velvet. The Ilya and Farris dresses are cut in velvet of 93% polyester and 7% elastane, both with a high turtleneck and long sleeves. Velvet has a short, dense cut pile that catches light and deepens colour. See our velvet maxi dresses edit.
Lace gowns. The Aelia and Chantal dresses come in a claret lace, and the Chantal also comes in an Azurite lace. The base is 100% polyester with lace of 68% nylon and 32% cotton, an openwork fabric laid over the print. Our burgundy lace dresses guide covers the colour.
Organza tiers. The Eros gown drops from a sheer organza bodice into tiers of printed organza ruffles. Organza is a thin, crisp, sheer plain weave that holds volume, so each tier stands away from the one below. More in our organza gowns edit.
Pleats. The Alexis dress pairs a fitted waist and long sleeves with an ankle-length pleated skirt, and the Uni skirt is a pleated midi, a long-running house shape. See pleated maxi dresses.
Kaftans. The Kira kaftan comes in printed Mizutama polyester with a V neckline and a matching neck scarf. The Auri kaftan is a slightly sheer Ame Marble chiffon with wide sleeves and comes with a slip dress to wear beneath.

How to wear Mary Katrantzou Resort 2027
The print does the work, so the rest of the outfit should stay quiet and close in tone.
- Wear the suit as a suit. The Hudson jacket with Thalia trousers, a Gianna skirt and a Vargas skirt in one colourway gives a single column of print. Keep shoes and bag in claret, black and gold.
- Break a suit for dinner. The Ines bow blouse over black wide-leg trousers carries the print at the face only.
- Let the gown stand alone. The Eros, Etta and Chantal need little jewellery. One pair of gold earrings echoes the kintsugi gold.
- Use velvet for cold evenings. The Ilya and Farris turtlenecks cover the arms and neck, which suits winter wedding guest dresses and Christmas weddings.
- Take the kaftans on holiday. The Kira and Auri work for long dinners in the sun, with flat sandals.

Wearing Mary Katrantzou Resort 2027 around the world
In the US, the velvet and lace suit winter galas in New York and Chicago, while organza and kaftans suit Florida evenings. In the UK, the long-sleeved Aelia, Ilya and Alexis cover a cold church, with the Hito coat on top. Across Europe, the jacquards fit autumn dinners and the kaftans travel to the Mediterranean in spring.
In the Gulf, the cooler months bring the event season, and the high necklines and long sleeves of the Aelia, Ilya and Chantal suit modest occasion dressing. In Asia, humid Singapore and Hong Kong favour the sheer Auri chiffon and the organza, while velvet belongs to winter in Seoul and Tokyo.
How does Mary Katrantzou sizing work?
Mary Katrantzou sizes in UK, so a UK 8 is a US 4, an IT 40 and a FR 36. Letter-sized styles run XS to XL, and on the house chart XS sits at a UK 6. The house gives no advice on sizing up and down for most pieces, so take your usual size; the one exception this season is the Kira kaftan, which the house says runs big by one to two sizes. The models are 178 cm tall and wear a UK 8. Full charts are in our Mary Katrantzou size guide.
