Polène Felted Edition: The New Wool Cyme and Mokki Bags Explained

The Polène Felted Edition is a new winter line that dresses four of the house’s best-known Polène bags in knitted wool: the Cyme, the Cyme Mini, the Mokki and the Mokki Mini, each in three tone-on-tone shades, which makes twelve bags in all. The wool is 78% wool and 22% polyamide, shaped by the fully fashioned method to the exact dimensions of each model, then paired with certified full-grain Italian calf leather.

Polène labels the line NEW and places it in its Winter 2026 campaign, so search volume for the name has not caught up yet. This guide sets out what the brand has actually published about the edition, model by model, and leans on our Polène Cyme guide for the leather background.

What is the Polène Felted Edition?

The house describes the Felted Edition as an exploration of layering and tone-on-tone colour. In practice that means a wool panel and a leather trim in closely related shades, so the bag reads as one colour with two surfaces. The brand copy draws attention to the contrast between the soft, dense texture of the wool and the character of the leather around it.

Nothing about the silhouettes changes. The Cyme keeps its ridge, the name of which the house traces to the French word “cime”, a peak, a mountain crest. The Mokki keeps its folded, cabin-like body, a name the brand takes from the Finnish word for “cabin”. What changes is the surface: wool where the leather versions carry calf, and leather kept for the structure and the trims.

If you know the shapes from our Polène Mokki guide, the choice here is mostly colour and material.

Fully fashioned wool, explained

“Fully fashioned” is a knitwear term. Instead of knitting a large length of fabric and cutting pieces out of it, each panel is knitted to its final shape. Polène says the woollen panels of the Felted Edition are shaped to the exact dimensions of each model, so a Cyme panel is made as a Cyme panel from the start.

The house publishes no further technical detail, so there is no stated gauge, yarn count nor finishing method to report.

The fabric composition is published: knitted wool fabric, 78% wool and 22% polyamide. Polyamide is a synthetic fibre often blended with wool in knitwear. Leather is certified full-grain Italian calf throughout, smooth on the Cyme, the Cyme Mini and the Mokki Mini, textured on the Mokki.

The four models and three shades

Every model comes in the same three shades. Anthracite Black pairs charcoal felt with black leather. Ebony pairs dark brown felt with espresso leather. Mist pairs a pale grey-beige felt with matching leather. Polène’s own file names call Mist “brume” and Ebony “ebene”, which is useful if you are searching the French site.

Cyme in felt

The largest of the four. The Cyme in Felted Anthracite Black Bag measures 45 x 32 x 17 cm and weighs 954 g, carried in the hand, on the elbow, on the shoulder. The Cyme in Felted Ebony Bag and the Cyme in Felted Mist Bag share those numbers.

Cyme Mini in felt

The Cyme Mini in Felted Anthracite Black Bag is 35 x 24 x 13 cm and 548 g, with the same three carry modes as the Cyme. It also comes as the Cyme Mini in Felted Ebony Bag and the Cyme Mini in Felted Mist Bag. Our Polène Cyme Mini guide goes deeper on this size.

Mokki in felt

The Mokki in Felted Anthracite Black Bag measures 32.5 x 24.5 x 11 cm and weighs 934 g. It is worn crossbody, on the shoulder, in the hand, and it is the one model in the edition with textured calf. A cotton lining is listed. The Mokki in Felted Ebony Bag and the Mokki in Felted Mist Bag complete the set.

Mokki Mini in felt

The smallest bag: the Mokki Mini in Felted Anthracite Black Bag is 27 x 13.5 x 11 cm and 644 g, with smooth calf, a cotton lining and the same three carry modes as the Mokki. The other two shades are the Mokki Mini in Felted Ebony Bag and the Mokki Mini in Felted Mist Bag.

Felted vs leather: the numbers side by side

The table below sets each felted model beside its leather counterpart using only figures from Polène’s own product pages. Note that the leather pages list height first while the Felted pages list width first; the table puts both in W x H x D. Where the house has not published a figure, the cell says so.

Model Dimensions (W x H x D) Weight Leather Lining Handles and strap
Cyme Felted 45 x 32 x 17 cm 954 g Smooth full-grain Italian calf Not published by the house Not published by the house
Cyme leather 38 x 32 x 17 cm 900 g Textured Italian calf Velvet microfibre Two handles, 40 cm and 60 cm
Cyme Mini Felted 35 x 24 x 13 cm 548 g Smooth full-grain Italian calf Not published by the house Not published by the house
Cyme Mini leather 33 x 22 x 13 cm 625 g Textured Italian calf Velvet microfibre Two handles, 40 cm and 60 cm
Mokki Felted 32.5 x 24.5 x 11 cm 934 g Textured full-grain Italian calf Cotton Not published by the house
Mokki leather 32.5 x 24.5 x 11 cm 860 g Smooth and textured full-grain Italian calf Cotton Adjustable strap, 43 cm and 54.5 cm
Mokki Mini Felted 27 x 13.5 x 11 cm 644 g Smooth full-grain Italian calf Cotton Not published by the house
Mokki Mini leather 27 x 13.5 x 8 cm 546 g Smooth and textured full-grain Italian calf Cotton Adjustable strap, 43 cm and 54.5 cm

Two things stand out. The felted Cyme is listed at 45 cm wide against 38 cm for the leather Cyme, and the felted Mokki Mini is listed 11 cm deep against 8 cm for leather. Weight goes up for three models and down for one: the felted Cyme Mini, at 548 g, is lighter than the leather Cyme Mini at 625 g. For the leather colours, compare the Cyme in Mist Bag and the Mokki in Ebony Bag, which share shade names with the felted line. Our Polène bag sizes guide covers the rest of the range.

How to care for Polène felted wool

The Felted PDPs carry wool-specific care that differs from the leather advice in our Polène leather guide. The house instructions, in short:

  • No machine washing and no tumble drying.
  • Do not rub a stain. Apply a dry cleaning foam with a soft brush.
  • Keep the bag away from water, grease, perfume and cosmetics.
  • If it gets wet, dab gently with a soft cloth and let it air dry.
  • Dark and new clothes can bleed dye onto it, which matters most with Mist.
  • Avoid rubbing the wool against other fabrics, which the brand warns causes premature wear.
  • Do not overfill, and store the bag in its dust bag.

Polène also offers a paid repair service on request. The rubbing point is the one to plan around: a wool bag worn crossbody against a textured coat sees friction every time you move, so a Mokki on a long strap over a smooth coat is gentler on the felt than the same bag over a bouclé jacket. Our sibling guide to felt and wool bags compares wool care across designers.

Who the Felted Edition suits

The edition makes most sense for someone who already likes Polène’s shapes and wants a winter version rather than another leather colour. The tone-on-tone shades are deliberately quiet: Anthracite Black sits naturally with charcoal and navy coats, Ebony with camel and chocolate, Mist with ivory, oatmeal and grey. Our guide to choosing a wool coat is a good companion read.

It is less obvious for a bag that has to face rain on a daily walk, given the brand’s own advice to keep the wool away from water. Anyone who needs one bag for every season may prefer a leather Cyme Mini such as the Cyme Mini in Black Bag, keeping felt for drier days. For a hands-free option with the same strap system in leather, the Mokki Mini in Black Bag is the plain counterpart to the felted Mokki Mini. Polène Felted Edition around the world

United States

The brand lists boutiques in New York, on Broadway and in SoHo, and has leased a space on Oak Street in Chicago. A felted bag fits the cold, dry stretches of a north-eastern winter, with leather kept for slush days.

United Kingdom

Polène lists a London boutique. British winters are damp more than cold, so the felted Cyme suits office days and dry weekends, with the care rules on water firmly in mind.

France

Paris is home, with boutiques on Rue de Richelieu and the Champs-Élysées. Mist and Ebony read naturally against the grey and camel coats of a Paris winter.

Germany and Europe

The brand lists boutiques in Hamburg on Neuer Wall, Milan on Via Manzoni and Copenhagen. Northern European cold is where a wool bag makes the most sense, worn over smooth wool coats to limit friction.

Japan and Asia

Tokyo’s Minami-Aoyama boutique opened in 2023 as the brand’s first Asian store, and Polène also lists Seoul on Garosu-gil and Beijing. Tokyo winters tend to be cool and bright, good weather for felt.

Australia and the Gulf

The house lists no boutiques in either region. In Australia the edition is a June to August choice; in the Gulf, the cooler months and air-conditioned interiors are where a wool bag gets used.
