What are the Sebastian Milano limited editions?

From Milan Fashion Week for Spring Summer 2024, which the house showed in September 2023, Sebastian Milano has released one new design at each fashion week. Each one is made in 99 pairs and no more. The number of the pair is printed on the insole, so the shoe you own is identified as one of 99.

Every edition starts from a work of art and design. A hat, a painting, an illustration and a piece of furniture have each become a shoe. The house keeps the finish of its regular line, so every pair is lined in leather and made by hand in Italy, but the uppers go much further than the core collection: red crystals, patent lips, a detachable gold chain and padded velvet.

Why 99 pairs?

A run of 99 keeps each design genuinely scarce. Spread across sizes from EU 36 to EU 42, that leaves only a handful of pairs in any one size. If you see your size in stock, it is worth deciding sooner rather than later.

Muse: the first edition

Muse opened the series at Milan Fashion Week Spring Summer 2024. It is a homage to the Philip Treacy hat worn by Grace Jones, and the shoe carries that drama in its finish: patent leather scattered with red crystals. The Muse Sandal in black patent and red crystal stands on a 105 mm heel, is lined in nude leather and sits on a black recycled leather sole.

How to wear Muse

Red crystals on black patent already do a lot, so let the shoe be the one bright point. A black column dress, a black tuxedo with a cropped trouser and a long slip skirt all show it off. For more evening ideas, see the Coveti edit of party shoes.

Dada: the second edition

Dada followed Muse as the second numbered design. The red patent lips on the toe nod to the Man Ray painting known as The Lips. The Dada Sandal in black and red lips is cut from black textured patent, with the lips in red textured patent, a nude goatskin lining and a black leather sole. The heel is 105 mm.

How to wear Dada

Dada has a sense of humour, which makes it easier to wear than its height suggests. Try it with a sharp black trouser suit and a white shirt, so the lips read as the joke in a serious outfit. A red lip colour that matches the patent is optional, though it is hard to resist.

Eva: the serpent chain

Eva takes its idea from The Serpent Seduces Eve by Walter Crane. A gold serpent chain runs from the toe to the ankle, and it comes off to be worn on its own as jewellery. The Eva Pump in black patent with gold serpent is a closed pump in black textured patent on a 105 mm heel, lined in nude leather with a black recycled leather sole.

How to wear Eva

Because the chain detaches, Eva works as two shoes. With the serpent on, it is an evening pump that suits gold jewellery and a black dress. With the chain off, it is a clean black patent pump that goes to the office with a midi skirt. Gold accessories are the natural partner; the Coveti guide to how to wear gold heels has more on mixing gold with black.

Devalle: the velvet pump for autumn winter 2026/27

Devalle is drawn from the Devalle settee by Carlo Mollino. The red velvet is padded, and the stitching is left visible on purpose to show the hand work. The Devalle Pump in red velvet stands at 105 mm, with a nude leather lining and a black recycled leather sole.

How to wear Devalle

Of the four, Devalle is the one to buy for autumn winter 2026/27. Velvet belongs to the cold months, and red velvet suits the festive season in particular. Wear it with black opaque tights and a short black dress, with a burgundy knit and a grey wool skirt, and with black velvet for a full tonal look. The Coveti guide to burgundy heels and boots covers the deeper reds of the season.

What about Riva?

Riva is a Sebastian Milano limited edition inspired by De Chirico’s Horses on the Seashore. It is sold out at source, and Coveti does not stock it. If you missed it, the fthe Coveti editions above are still available at Coveti while sizes last.

How do the limited editions fit?

The limited editions follow the same Italian sizing as the rest of the house, which matches the European scale: EU 38 is a UK 5 and a US 8. Take your usual EU size. At Coveti they come in whole sizes from EU 36 to EU 42. If you are between sizes, the house recommends going half a size up, which at Coveti means taking the next whole size. All four stand at 105 mm, the highest heel in the collection, so if you rarely wear that height, practise at home first. The Sebastian Milano size guide has the full chart.

A lower alternative

If 105 mm is too high, the core collection offers a lower route to the same sense of occasion. The Karen Pump in black patent and gold stands on the 95 mm Coco heel, a sculpted metal-tone stiletto, and the tassel heels sit at 95 mm too. See Sebastian Milano tassel heels.

Caring for a numbered pair

A numbered shoe is worth looking after. The house asks that you avoid water, sun, heat, oils and alcohol, and that you handle crystals, satin and embellishment carefully. Keep the Eva chain in a separate pouch when it is off the shoe, store Devalle so the velvet is not crushed, and keep every pair in its dust bag and box.
