Agua by Agua Bendita Coleccionista: The Resort 2027 Edit
Agua by Agua Bendita is the Colombian luxury resort label founded in 2018 by Catalina Alvarez and Mariana Hinestroza, and Coleccionista is its Resort 2027 collection: 31 pieces in three prints, Nostalgia, Isolda and Castillo, all made in Colombia. Coveti carries 30 of them across designer dresses, swim and pareos, gathered on the Agua by Agua Bendita brand page. For the story of the house itself, start with our profile of the Colombian resort house.
Key facts
- Coleccionista is the Resort 2027 collection from Agua by Agua Bendita, with 31 pieces in three prints: Nostalgia, Isolda and Castillo.
- Coleccionista is Spanish for collector, and the house makes only three collections a year.
- The collection uses linen, cotton poplin, cotton and silk voile, viscose and silk velvet, viscose jacquard and French gobelin jacquard.
- Every Coleccionista piece is made in Colombia, and the prints begin as hand illustrations.
This edit explains what the collection name means, how the three prints differ, which cloths and techniques the house used, the pieces to buy first and how to wear them. The swim and the dresses each have their own guide too: Agua Bendita swimwear and Agua Bendita dresses.
What does Coleccionista mean?
Coleccionista is Spanish for “collector”. The name suits a house that says it makes only three collections a year and describes its approach as creating less and creating better. The pieces are built to be kept and worn again, season after season, which is the habit of a collector.
The house says it is defined by hand-illustrated prints, intricate hand embroidery, natural and recycled fabrics and romantic silhouettes. All of that shows in Coleccionista. Every print starts as a drawing on paper before it is put to cloth, and several pieces carry florals embroidered by hand. From the beginning the founders have worked with women from Medellin and the towns around it, many of them working from home while caring for their children. The house calls this programme AB Hearts.
The three prints: Nostalgia, Isolda and Castillo
Nostalgia
Nostalgia is the softest of the three. It comes in bottle green linen worked with hand embroidery, in rose-pink lace and florals, and in mint. The bottle green appears on the Lima mini dress and the Luna pareo, while the rose pink runs through the Amanda cropped top, the Tangelo lace skirt, the Gema one piece and the Lavanda voile pareo.
Isolda
Isolda is the largest print family and the most varied in cloth. Its florals come in cream, navy, berry and garnet, on cotton poplin, viscose jacquard, French gobelin jacquard, velvet and swim fabric. It covers a shirt, trousers, a vest, shorts, dresses, swim and pareos, enough for a whole holiday wardrobe in one print.
Castillo
Castillo means “castle”, and it is the most formal print in the collection. It appears as black velvet with gold florals on the Ventura maxi dress, as rose-pink linen stripes with florals on the Cana blouse and Lirica skirt, and in blush beige and pink on the swim.
Fabrics and techniques in the collection
The cloth list is wider than most resort collections. Linen, woven from flax fibre, breathes well in heat and creases as it is worn, which is part of its character. Cotton poplin is a tight plain weave with a crisp hand and a slight sheen. Voile, used for the Lavanda pareos in 70% cotton and 30% silk, is a light, sheer plain weave that moves with the wind.
Jacquard means the pattern is woven into the cloth on the loom, so it sits in the structure of the fabric. The Cecilia shirt and Virtud trousers are a 100% viscose jacquard. The Pergamino vest and Nostalgia shorts go further, in a French gobelin jacquard of 54% cotton, 42% polyester and 4% acrylic. Gobelin jacquard is named after the Gobelins tapestry works in Paris and has the dense, tapestry-like hand that the name suggests. Our guide to what jacquard fabric is covers the weave in more detail.
Velvet has a cut pile, which gives it depth of colour and a soft surface. The Ventura and Alamo maxi dresses are 82% viscose and 18% silk velvet. The swim is 81% recycled polyester and 19% elastane, fully lined.
On technique, the hand-embroidered florals are on the Lima dresses, the Ebano one piece, the Primavera bikini tops, the Durazno one piece and the Tierra pareo. The Cana blouse is embroidered by machine. Everything else carries the hand-illustrated print. For more embroidered pieces across labels, see our embroidered dresses edit.
The Coleccionista pieces to buy first
1. Lima Nostalgia Mini Dress
The Lima Nostalgia Mini Dress is pure linen in bottle green, with florals embroidered by hand. It has a straight neckline, no sleeves and a concealed back zip, and it is fully lined. Of all the pieces, this is the clearest example of the house’s handwork.
2. Ventura Castillo Maxi Dress
The Ventura Castillo Maxi Dress is the evening piece: black viscose and silk velvet carrying the gold florals of the Castillo print. It is sleeveless, fully lined and closes with a concealed back zip.
3. Lima Isolda Maxi Dress
The Lima Isolda Maxi Dress takes the same Lima name to full length, in deep navy linen with hand-embroidered florals and a straight neckline. Navy linen is a strong choice for a warm-weather wedding.
4. Cecilia Isolda Shirt
The Cecilia Isolda Shirt is a viscose jacquard in cream with the hand-illustrated Isolda florals. Wear it over swim on the beach and with the matching Virtud trousers in town.
5. Pergamino Isolda Vest
The Pergamino Isolda Vest is cut from the French gobelin jacquard in garnet, with a v neckline and a full lining. It pairs with the Nostalgia Isolda Shorts in the same cloth for a matched set.
6. Cana Castillo Blouse
The Cana Castillo Blouse is rose-pink linen with machine-embroidered florals across the front and a halter neckline. It goes with the Lirica Castillo Maxi Skirt in the same print.
7. Ebano Isolda One Piece
The Ebano Isolda One Piece is deep navy swim fabric with hand-embroidered florals, a demi-cup neckline and an American-cut leg. Handwork on swim fabric takes patience, and this is the piece that shows it best.
8. Tierra Castillo Pareo Maxi
The Tierra Castillo Pareo Maxi is rose-pink linen with hand-embroidered florals, sized in pairs, XS/S and M/L. It ties over any of the Castillo swim. Our guide to tying a sarong shows the knots.
9. Gesto Quebrada Kaftan
Already at Coveti from an earlier Agua delivery, the Gesto Quebrada Kaftan sits among our kaftans and resort dresses. It is the easiest cover to pull on over Coleccionista swim.

How to wear Coleccionista
The collection is built as separates as much as dresses, so most pieces work in more than one outfit. These are the combinations that use the cloth best.
- Cecilia shirt open over the Zucchini Isolda bikini top and Melocoton bottom in cream, then buttoned with the Virtud trousers for lunch in town.
- Pergamino vest and Nostalgia shorts in garnet gobelin as a set, with a flat sandal. The weight of the jacquard holds the shape of both.
- Cana blouse with the Lirica maxi skirt for a full Castillo look in rose pink. Our guide to printed maxi skirts has more on the shape.
- Ventura velvet maxi for the main dinner of the trip, with gold jewellery to pick up the gold florals.
- Any Coleccionista swim under the matching pareo, tied at the hip for the walk to lunch. See our beach cover-ups guide for more ideas.
Linen will crease; hang it in a steamy bathroom after travel. The care labels ask for dry cleaning on the ready to wear and pareos.
Wearing Coleccionista around the world
In the United States, the collection fits the winter sun calendar: Florida, the Caribbean and Mexico from December onward, when linen and swim do most of the work. In the UK and northern Europe, Coleccionista is holiday packing for long-haul winter trips, then summer wear from June to August, when the linen dresses suit garden parties and weddings.
In southern Europe, the Mediterranean summer favours the poplin and linen dresses by day and the velvet Castillo pieces for cooler evenings by the sea. In the Gulf, the long-sleeved Alamo Isolda velvet maxi gives a covered option for dinners in the cooler months, and the kaftan works over swim at a resort pool. In Latin America, and in Colombia above all, the house has stores in Cartagena, Medellin and Bogota, and our guide to what to wear in Cartagena covers the Caribbean coast in detail.
Coleccionista sizing
Agua by Agua Bendita cuts in letter sizes from XS to XL. On the house body chart an XS fits a 84 cm bust, 65 cm waist and 90 cm hips, and an M fits a 94 cm bust, 75 cm waist and 100 cm hips. The brand gives no advice on sizing up and down, so take your usual size; the models on the product pages are 177 and 178 cm tall and wear an XS. Full charts are in our Agua by Agua Bendita size guide. The Luna, Arte and Tierra pareos come in paired sizes, XS/S and M/L, and the Lavanda pareos are one size.
