Bogner Jackets and Coats for Town: The Winter Edit
Bogner is not only for the slope. The main Bogner line makes down jackets, double-faced wool coats, lambskin and quilted gilets for town, cut with the same attention to warmth as the skiwear. These are the pieces from the Bogner edit we would wear through the city winter.
Down jackets and parkas
Bogner’s city down is cut slimmer than most puffers, often with a belt and a shaped waist, so it reads as a coat rather than a duvet. The Glenda Down Parka in Black is long enough to cover tailoring. The Georgia Down Jacket in Camel is the shorter everyday option, and the Cathy Bouclé Down Jacket in Camel adds boucle texture. For more on fill power and warmth, read our down jacket buying guide.
Wool coats
The double-faced wool coats are Bogner at its quietest. The Trisha Double-Faced Wool Coat in Camel is a clean camel coat with no lining needed, because double-faced wool is finished on both sides. The Venice Double-Faced Wool Cape in Camel is the softer, more relaxed shape.
Lambskin and teddy
For real cold, the Liz Lambskin Jacket in Cream is curly lambskin with a detachable nylon hood and matching gloves. The Kimberly Teddy Jacket in Cream is the lighter, easier teddy jacket. See more shearling jackets.
Gilets
A down gilet is the most useful Bogner piece for layering. The Milly Lightweight Down Vest in Black is light enough to wear under a coat, and the Manda Faux Fur Down Waistcoat in Off White and Beige adds faux fur for the chalet.
How do Bogner coats fit?
Most are cut in a regular fit with room for a knit underneath. Take your usual size. Bogner sizes its clothing in EU confection sizes, which Coveti lists in UK sizes: on the Bogner chart an EU 34 is a UK 8 and a US 4, and an EU 36 is a UK 10. The full conversion is in our Bogner size guide.
Care
Down and lambskin need a specialist clean, so do not wash them at home. Hang wool coats on a wide hanger and brush them after wearing. Each product page lists Bogner’s care symbols.
Which Bogner coat for which climate
| Damp city winters | A down parka with a water-repellent shell, such as the Glenda Down Parka in Navy |
| Dry cold | A double-faced wool coat over a cashmere knit |
| Real cold, below minus 10 | Lambskin, and long down coats like the Suna Down Coat in Black |
| Mild autumn days | A light down gilet over a knit |
Down jacket vs wool coat
Down is warmer for its weight and copes with wind and light rain. Wool looks dressier, breathes better indoors and lasts for decades with care. Many of our customers own one of each: wool for the office and dinners, down for weekends and travel.
Frequently asked questions
Are Bogner jackets good for city wear?
Yes. The main Bogner line makes down jackets, wool coats and lambskin designed for town, with slimmer shapes than most ski jackets.
Are Bogner coats warm?
Bogner rates many styles on a light, medium and warm scale. Down parkas and lambskin jackets are the warmest.
How do you clean a Bogner down jacket?
Most Bogner down jackets are marked for specialist cleaning only. Do not wash, tumble dry and iron them at home.
Do Bogner coats run large?
No. Bogner publishes no sizing correction and its coats fit true to size, with room for a knit.
What is a double-faced wool coat?
It is a coat made from wool that is finished on both sides, so it needs no lining and drapes softly.
