Bogner Ski Pants: Stirrup, Softshell and Dungarees
Bogner ski pants are where the brand began as a fashion name. Maria Bogner introduced slim stretch ski trousers with a stirrup in 1948, and the house still makes them alongside padded ski trousers and ski dungarees. Shop all women’s ski pants at Coveti and see the full Bogner edit.
The three Bogner ski pant shapes
- Stirrup trousers: slim softshell trousers with a strap under the foot that keeps the line straight inside the ski boot. The Elaine Softshell Stirrup Trousers with Gussets in Black is the modern version of the 1948 design.
- Softshell ski trousers: stretch trousers with a slim, sometimes flared, leg and a boot gaiter, such as the Hazel Softshell Ski Trousers in Navy.
- Padded ski trousers and dungarees: warmer, with insulation and, for dungarees, a bib that keeps snow out. Try the Mari Softshell Ski Dungarees in Black.
Softshell vs padded
Softshell ski pants are thin, stretchy and breathable, so they suit active skiers and milder days. Wear them over a thermal legging when it is cold. Padded ski trousers are warmer on their own and better for long lift rides. If you feel the cold, choose padding. If you ski hard, choose softshell. Our guide to stretch ski pants goes into the stirrup style in more depth.
The Bogner ski pants we would buy
1. Elaine Softshell Stirrup Trousers with Gussets in Black
Elaine is the stirrup trouser that made Bogner famous, in a softshell with gussets for movement. It is slim, sleek and very easy to wear.
2. Hazel Softshell Ski Trousers in Light Blue
Hazel in light blue is a softshell ski trouser with a slim leg. It also comes in navy, pink, black and sage.
3. Fanni Ski Trousers in Red
Fanni in red is the bold choice, with a technical shell that pairs well with a black jacket, and just as well with white.
4. Jila Ski Dungarees in Light Blue
Jila are ski dungarees in light blue. The bib adds warmth and keeps snow out of your base layer.
5. Borja Ski Trousers in Off White
Borja is the Fire+Ice ski trouser in off white. It is the lower-priced way into the Bogner look.
6. Tizia Ski Dungarees in Off White and Beige
Tizia are Fire+Ice ski dungarees in off white and beige, a soft colour pairing that suits apres ski.
How do Bogner ski pants fit?
Bogner cuts its ski trousers close. Take your usual size and leave room for a thermal legging. Bogner also makes many styles in long leg lengths for taller frames, which Coveti does not list. Bogner sizes its clothing in EU confection sizes, which Coveti lists in UK sizes: on the Bogner chart an EU 34 is a UK 8 and a US 4, and an EU 36 is a UK 10. The full conversion is in our Bogner size guide.
What to wear with them
Pair slim ski pants with a fitted down jacket from our Bogner ski jackets guide, and keep the colours tonal. A white pair works with almost any jacket, as we explain in our white ski jacket and pants guide.

Frequently asked questions
What are Bogner ski pants called?
The original Bogner style is the stretch stirrup trouser, introduced by Maria Bogner in 1948. The shape became so well known that slim ski pants were simply called Bogners.
Are Bogner ski pants warm?
Softshell styles are light and best worn over a thermal layer. Padded ski trousers and dungarees are warm enough on their own for most days.
Do Bogner ski pants run small?
Bogner publishes no sizing correction. The cut is slim, so take your usual size and allow for a base layer.
What is a stirrup on ski pants?
It is a strap that passes under the foot inside the ski boot. It keeps a slim trouser leg straight and stops it riding up.
Are Bogner ski pants worth it?
Yes, if you want ski trousers that look sharp off the slope as well as on it. The stretch fabrics move well and last for many seasons.
