Bogner Fire+Ice Explained: The Younger Bogner Line

Bogner Fire+Ice is the younger line of the Munich ski house, launched in 1989 and named after the 1986 film Fire and Ice by Willy Bogner Jr. It brings Bogner skiwear down in price, with stronger colour and a more relaxed attitude. Coveti stocks the Fire+Ice ski jackets and ski pants as part of the full Bogner edit.

Where the name comes from

Willy Bogner Jr. was an Olympic skier who became a filmmaker. His 1986 film Fire and Ice followed skiers and snowboarders through big mountain scenes, and it was a hit with a younger audience. Three years later the house launched a line built around that energy, mixing ski and snowboard style with streetwear. The film is covered in more detail in our Bogner history.

Bogner, Bogner Sport and Fire+Ice compared

Bogner The luxury line: cashmere, virgin wool, lambskin and down for town and chalet
Bogner Sport The technical skiwear: down ski jackets, softshell stirrup trousers, first layers
Fire+Ice The younger line: synthetic-fill ski jackets, ski trousers, overalls and hoodies at lower prices

The Fire+Ice pieces we would buy

1. Tavie Ski Jacket in Navy

Tavie is the Fire+Ice ski jacket in its cleanest form, a fitted shape with a water-repellent shell. Navy is the easy colour.

2. Sasha Ski Jacket in Pink

Sasha in pink is the colour this line does best. Wear it with white ski trousers.

3. Borja Ski Trousers in Navy

Borja ski trousers come in six colours and are the simplest way to build a full Fire+Ice look.

4. Zea Softshell Ski Overalls in Blue

Zea is a softshell ski overall, the one-piece suit for skiers who want a single layer from boot to collar.

5. Margo First Layer in Pink

Margo is the Fire+Ice first layer, a fitted base top that sits under any ski jacket.

6. Iva Fleece Hoodie in Beige

Iva is a fleece hoodie for the walk to the lift and for apres ski.

Is Fire+Ice good quality?

Yes. Fire+Ice is designed in the same Munich studio as Bogner and Bogner Sport, and its ski pieces use water-repellent, breathable shells with practical details such as powder skirts and ski-pass pockets. The difference is mainly in fill and finish: Fire+Ice uses synthetic insulation and fewer luxury trims. Compare the two lines in our Bogner ski jackets guide.

How does Fire+Ice fit?

Fire+Ice follows the same Bogner size chart. Take your usual size. Bogner sizes its clothing in EU confection sizes, which Coveti lists in UK sizes: on the Bogner chart an EU 34 is a UK 8 and a US 4, and an EU 36 is a UK 10. The full conversion is in our Bogner size guide.

Who Fire+Ice is for

Fire+Ice suits skiers who want strong colour, a relaxed fit and a lower price than Bogner Sport. It is also a good choice for teenagers moving into adult sizes and for anyone who wants a second ski outfit for the week. The pieces mix easily with Bogner Sport, so a Fire+Ice jacket works with a Bogner Sport stirrup trouser.
