Dôen Nightgowns and Sleepwear: A Guide to the Label’s Night Pieces
Dôen’s sleepwear is made with the same care as its dresses: cotton voile, silk satin, lace and archive prints, each piece with a story behind it. All of it is in the Dôen collection at Coveti, alongside our wider edit of designer loungewear. If you like this side of the label, our list of brands like Dôen includes The Sleeper.
The nightgowns
Dôen makes three nightgowns in white cotton, the shade it calls Salt, and each looks to a different era.
- Dashwood Nightgown in Salt: a limited edition made to mark the Vogue Book Club’s selection of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. It is named for the novel’s heroine, Elinor Dashwood, and takes its shape from Regency-era chemises. The cotton voile is feather-light and sheer.
- Amore Nightgown in Salt: inspired by the babydoll nightgowns of the 1960s, in cotton voile schiffli, left unlined, with a pink grosgrain ribbon at the neckline and scalloped lace trims.
- Lelia Nightgown in Salt: a mini-length style in organic cotton voile, with Edwardian-inspired lace at the scoop neck and cap sleeves and embroidered florals at the yoke and scalloped hem.
All three are light and partly sheer, made for warm nights rather than for wearing out on their own.
Silk and printed pyjama pieces
The pyjama pieces are sold separately, so you can choose a different size for top and bottom.
- Camellia Bloom silk: the Elianne Top in Camellia Bloom is a silk satin button-down with 1940s details, a pointed collar and re-embroidered lace. It pairs with the Felise Pant in Camellia Bloom, a pull-on silk satin trouser with scalloped lace at the hems.
- Menorca Foulard cotton: the print is inspired by 1940s opera scarves. The Maurise Top in Menorca Foulard is organic cotton voile with knotted buttons, and the Vienna Short in Menorca Foulard is airy cotton poplin.
- Marceau Stripe cotton: inspired by French interior textiles. The oversized Remis Top in Marceau Stripe has mother-of-pearl buttons and an embroidered D at the yoke, and the Lavona Drawstring Pant in Marceau Stripe has relaxed wide legs.
Pointelle tees and shorts
For the warmest nights, Dôen makes a soft, slightly stretchy organic cotton pointelle. The Nalia Tee in Light Peach Sorbet has a deep V edged with lace, the Riana Tee in Light Peach Sorbet a high boat neck and bracelet-length sleeves. Both pair with the Orna Short in Light Peach Sorbet and the Orna Short in Salt, which have a scalloped elastic waist and lace at the legs.
The Gisela Robe and its Liberty print
The Gisela Robe in Tulip Posy is a loose cotton lawn robe with generous sleeves and a self-tie sash. Its Tulip Posy print is drawn from an antique hand-painted artwork in the Liberty archive and designed in London. It is the Dôen piece we would choose as a gift.
How to wear Dôen sleepwear beyond the bedroom
- The Marceau Stripe shirt works as an oversized day shirt with jeans and loafers.
- The Felise silk pant pairs with a fine knit for a slow weekend lunch.
- The Gisela robe can be worn open over a slip dress indoors, like a light coat.
How to care for it
Cotton voile and pointelle are usually washed cold and dried flat. Silk satin is more delicate and often dry clean only. Check the care line on each product page before washing.
