Jacquemus Size Guide: How the Clothes and Bags Fit

0

Jacquemus sizes most women’s ready-to-wear in French numeric sizes from 32 to 46, where FR34 equals UK6 and US2. Jersey, knitwear and unisex pieces run on letters from XXS to XXXL, and denim is cut by waist in inches from 23 to 36. Coveti lists every piece on the UK ladder, so the conversion is already done for you.

The Paris house founded by Simon Porte Jacquemus in 2009 cuts its clothes with a southern lightness: rounded shoulders, fluid viscose, cropped knits, long oversized shirts. That shape is part of the appeal, and it is also why the size label only tells half the story. This guide covers the numbers first, then the fit notes Jacquemus publishes on its own product pages, the heights and sizes of the models in the campaign images, and finally how the bags compare across mini, small and standard. For the bigger picture on the label itself, start with who is Jacquemus, then come back here before checking out.

Jacquemus size conversion: FR, UK, US and letters

The French ladder is the base for tailoring, dresses, skirts, shirts and most trousers. The rule Coveti uses is simple: the UK size is the French size minus 28, and the US size is the UK size minus 4. The letter column is the nearest equivalent for jersey and knit pieces, set against the brand’s own pattern of a model in FR34 also wearing XS in knitwear.

French (FR) UK US Nearest letter
32 4 0 XXS
34 6 2 XS
36 8 4 S
38 10 6 M
40 12 8 L
42 14 10 XL
44 16 12 XXL
46 18 14 XXXL

Two practical points. First, the French scale steps up by two, so there is no FR35 to split the difference; if you sit between sizes, read the fit description before choosing. Second, the letter column is a guide to the nearest match, not a promise that a Jacquemus M fits like an FR38 jacket. Knitwear and jersey are cut with more ease than tailoring, which is the subject of the next section.

Letter sizes on jersey, knitwear and unisex pieces

T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, polos and most knitwear carry letter sizes from XXS to XXXL. This is where the house’s relaxed cut matters most. The product notes for the embroidered Palmier t-shirt describe a relaxed fit with a crew neck and short sleeves, and show it on a 189cm model in a size M. The logo tees in the current range follow the same idea: the J T-Shirt in White, the Ruban T-Shirt in Dark Grey and the “Le Palmier” T-Shirt in Palmier Print White are all cotton-based jersey made in Portugal.

Some of these tees and sweatshirts are cut as unisex, which means the letter is set against a broader frame. Where a Jacquemus product page tells you to take a size down, follow it; that note is specific to the piece and the brand knows its own block. Where the page only says “relaxed fit”, your usual letter will give the drape shown in the campaign, and a size down will give a closer, more conventional tee. Neither is wrong; it comes down to how much slouch you want.

Knitwear is more varied. The brand’s notes describe its logo jumper in brushed alpaca as a cropped, loose fit, worn by a 171cm model in XS. Coveti’s Jacquemus Knit in Light Brown is that same alpaca, polyamide and merino blend, so expect a short body with room through the chest and sleeves. The wide turtleneck sweater in virgin wool and cashmere is described as relaxed, with a bib panel and rounded sleeves, and is shown on a 178cm model in a 38. A merino cardigan with an embroidered “J” is relaxed too, shown in a 34. For a closer knit with a fine gauge, the Pablo Knit in Grey is pure cashmere, and the Sera Cardigan in Dark Beige is a viscose blend with a softer hand.

Denim: waist inches from 23 to 36

Jacquemus denim, sold under the de-Nimes name, is sized by waist in inches from 23 to 36. This is the one category where the French ladder does not apply. The simplest method is to measure the waistband of a pair of jeans you already wear at the height you like, lay it flat, double the measurement in inches and choose that size.

Cut changes the answer more than the number does. The Wide De-Nimes Denim Pants in Black are generous through the leg, so the waist is the only measurement to worry about. The Ovalo De-Nimes Denim Pants in Black follow a curved, rounded leg, which leaves more room at the thigh and knee. The Souro De-Nimes Denim Pants in Dark Navy are 100% cotton with a lining, which makes them warmer and a little less forgiving than stretch denim. None of the de-Nimes pieces in the current edit list elastane in the outer fabric, so buy the waist you measure rather than counting on give.

What Jacquemus says about fit, piece by piece

Jacquemus writes short, specific fit notes on every product page. They are the most reliable sizing information the house publishes, because they describe the intended silhouette. Across the current autumn range, a few phrases come up again and again, and each one means something different on the body.

  • Oversized fit. The faux fleece jacket and the relaxed coat in heavy bonded virgin wool are both described this way. The coat has rounded shoulder pads, a double-breasted closure and an ankle length; it is shown on a 176cm model in a 34. Take your usual size and the volume is built in.
  • Long oversized fit. The oversized shirt in stretch virgin wool, with a pointed collar and a rounded hem, is shown on a 180cm model in a 34. On a shorter frame it reads as a shirt dress.
  • Relaxed fit. The asymmetric draped skirt in waffle-knit viscose, the merino sweaters and cardigans, and the jersey tees all use this phrase. Expect ease, not volume.
  • Loose fit. The draped fluid wool top, with three-quarter puff sleeves and a scarf collar falling at the back, is shown on a 175cm model in a 34.
  • Cropped, loose fit. Used for the brushed alpaca logo jumper. Short in the body, roomy in the chest.

The faux fleece jacket deserves a note of its own. It is the one piece in the current notes where the models wear a 36 rather than a 34, at both 176cm and 178cm. Read that as a sign the jacket is designed to sit over knitwear, with the extra size giving room for layers underneath. If you plan to wear it over a T-shirt only, your usual size will do.

Model heights and the sizes they wear

Across the Jacquemus product pages scraped for this guide, the same handful of model measurements appear again and again. They give a fair sense of how a garment will land on you, especially for length.

Model height Size worn Products shown
176cm 34 37
175cm 34 31
180cm 34 30
180cm XS 26
187cm M 20
178cm 34 19
190cm M 19
188cm M 15

The women’s pieces are almost always shown on models between 175cm and 180cm wearing a 34, which is a UK6. The letter-sized and unisex pieces are shown on taller models, 187cm to 190cm, in a size M. Two things follow from that. A midi skirt that grazes the knee on a 176cm model will fall lower on someone of 163cm, so the asymmetric draped skirt with its knee-length hem will read as a midi. And the ankle-length coat will pool slightly on a shorter frame; at that length it is meant to.

How Coveti lists Jacquemus sizes

Coveti shows every Jacquemus piece on the UK ladder so the size selector reads the same across every brand on the site. French numeric sizes are converted using the table above, so an FR36 appears as UK8. Letter sizes stay as letters, from XXS to XXXL. Denim keeps its waist measurement in inches. If a size is missing from the selector, it is not currently in stock.

Each product page also carries the composition and the country of manufacture, taken from the brand. Most of the ready-to-wear is made in Portugal, with Bulgaria, Romania and Italy the other main countries of production. In the current range, jersey and much of the knitwear come from Portugal, while tailored jackets and coats come mostly from Bulgaria and Romania.

If something does not fit, the details are on the returns page. Every order is authenticity guaranteed and ships worldwide by DHL Express and FedEx. Most regions ship Delivered Duty Unpaid, so any import charges are settled with the courier on arrival.

Jacquemus bag sizes: mini, small and standard compared

The bags are not sized, but they come in families, and the prefix on the name tells you which. “Mini” bags such as the Bambino and Chiquito are built for cards and keys. “Small” versions of the Valerie and Turismo hold a phone, keys and earphones. The standard and large versions take a wallet, a water bottle and, in the Turismo, a 13-inch laptop. All dimensions below come from Jacquemus.

Model Type Size cm What fits From price
Chiquito Mini 12 x 9 Card-sized essentials $980
Medium Chiquito Mini 18 x 13.5 Cards, keys, a small phone $1,250
Bambino Mini 17.5 x 9 Cards, keys $1,090
Large Bambino Shoulder 23.5 x 13 x 7 Phone, keys, cardholder $1,410
Small Valerie Shoulder 24 x 14 x 7.5 Cardholder, smartphone, earphones, keys $1,990
Valerie Shoulder 32 x 20 x 11 Adds a small water bottle and a pocket book $2,470
Small Turismo Top handle 26 x 16 x 11 Cardholder, smartphone, earphones, keys, sunglasses $1,680
Large Turismo Tote 50 x 32 x 21 13-inch laptop, toiletry bag, a change of clothes $2,470

The step from small to standard is bigger than the names suggest. The Small Valerie Bag in Dark Yellow is 24cm across; the Valerie Bag in Greige and Black is 32cm and adds room for a bottle and a book. The same goes for the minis: the Bambino Bag in Dusty Orange is a 17.5cm sliver, while the Large Bambino Bag in Beige takes a phone. For everyday use, the Small Turismo Bag in Light Ivory is the most practical of the small sizes, and the Large Turismo Bag in Beige is the work bag. The full breakdown of every family is in the Jacquemus bags guide, and the case for and against the price is in is a Jacquemus bag worth it. To browse by shape, see mini bags and shoulder bags.

A quick routine before you buy

  1. Find your French size in the table above, using your usual UK size as the starting point.
  2. Read the fit phrase on the product page: oversized, relaxed, loose and cropped all mean different things.
  3. Check the model’s height and size against your own, especially for skirts, coats and anything described as long.
  4. For denim, measure the waist of a pair you already own and use inches.
  5. For bags, compare the centimetre dimensions with a bag you carry now.

Once the size is settled, the Jacquemus autumn winter 2026 edit picks the pieces worth buying this season, and how to style Jacquemus covers what to wear them with. Everything is on the Jacquemus brand page.
